  • During our fireplace remodel series I created a tv stand/bookshelf that had three drawers. I've created multiple pieces of furniture that have all used traditional wooden slides previously. After installing these slides, there's no going back. These not only hold the most weight, they slide completely out exposing all of the drawer AND they are SMOOTH!! If you have been wondering how to install drawer slides, hopefully this will be a great video to add to your collection of skills! If you want to know how to create a drawer, feel free to check out the rest of the fireplace remodel series! Peace and God bless!

    This video is the ONLY that made any sense. Your video was detailed and being able to actually see you install them makes a huge difference.

    How much clearance do I need from the left and the right side of the drawer to install the side mount ball bearing slides?

      You should check with your particular slides, but these were 1/2” on either side of the drawer.

    If my drawers get stuck sliding in what did do wrong??

      The first time that you push the slides in, there can be a little resistance. However, if you continue to feel resistance after closing the drawer, and re-opening it, the spacing between the slides could be too far apart or too close together.👍

      😬 Hard to say. Maybe a screw is loose or not all the way screwed in the slide?

    From the bottom of your cabinet what is the height of your slides?

    • @rutterrealtygc
      @rutterrealtygc  10 месяцев назад

      This measurement will change for your particular application, as it depends on the height at which the slide is on the drawer itself, and how far the face (or front) of the drawer extends beyond the bottom of the drawer. If you are creating an inset drawer like I did, and want to know what height to mount the slide on the furniture, add the gap you want between the face of the drawer and the furniture, how far the face extends beneath the bottom of the drawer, and the distance to the middle of the slide on the drawer itself. Then you will know what height the slide mount will need to be installed on the piece of furniture.

    Why do you care if slides are level? They just need to be square to the front of the cabinet.

    • @rutterrealtygc
      @rutterrealtygc  11 месяцев назад +2

      Because if they are not level then the top of your drawer will either be further in or stick farther out than the bottom depending on which way it is tilted. 👍

      @@rutterrealtygc level to what? The floor? What if the cabinet is sitting on a floor that isn’t perfectly level? I can build that cabinet in outter space, where a level won’t matter. Glides must be square/perpendicular to the face frame or front of the cabinet. I’ve built hundreds of cabinets, and the “only” time I use a level is when I’m hanging them. Aside from that, it’s all about being square, one piece to another.

    I stopped watching when the disclaimer popped up in 10 seconds. Why post a video on installing drawer slides then say "contact a licensed professional?" A licensed professional is not watching your video. Do you really think you need to say that? Are you a lawyer by day or something?
