This is the VERY REASON I'm a Patreon member - the value of a tool like this, and ALL of the tutorials you provide, have been priceless to this Wiondows convert. Thank you so much Gary!
What can I say Gary, absolutely brilliant! The new window makes life so much easier. The number of times I have wanted to edit some text before I pasted it. Many thanks for all your hard work, it is really appreciated.
How great is this?? Thanks, Gary! I immediately downloaded the app, and can already see it's going to be a regular tool. 10/10 will recommend to every Mac user I know.
Thank Gary! This app just keeps getting better! Saves me so much time taking info and copying it from one place and paste it in another, especially when there are multiple items to copy and paste.
Possibly. It won't be easy though. A search field is the easy part. But displaying the results in a way that isn't confusing or hard to dismiss will require a ton of work.
@@macmost My thought, as a non-programmer, is the search field would "remove" items from the list on the left. The search field would be directly above it, and would have an X to remove the search text. Either way, very much appreciate the product... would be happy to pay double.
@@PrescottComputerGuy That would probably be the way to go, yes. But a lot of work though to add a search field, a search process (does it support boolean operators? case-sensitive or not? how to handle rich text and when words are separated by multiple spaces or tabs?, how to handle accent marks and straight vs curly quotes?, etc.) and the X button and a way to make it clear that the other clips aren't gone, but that you have an active search. Also how to handle invisible characters in the search. A lot to consider. It will certainly be a big effort.
@@macmost Thanks for your thoughts on it.. and the consideration. My view would be to keep it as simple as possible. I would not think boolean operators or regex or the like would be commonly used... though of course however much work you put into the project and no matter how great and free you always will have folks such as myself saying "Hey, can you add this one more thing?" I get it. And appreciate the product as it is -- and the work you keep putting into it.
Of course it "collects" it. How else would it (or any clipboard manager) work to allow you to save a history of your clipboard? But ClipTools never sends it anywhere if that is what you mean. It is a local app, storing all of its data on your Mac.
Hi Gary, thank you for yet another very useful video. In the new window is there an option to search for a record, maybe starting typing what I want to paste?
Note: Unsure if mentioned elsewhere but to allow full functionality (ie, shortcut keystrokes) you must change Settings / Privacy and Security / Accessibility / Cliptools to "Allow". Otherwise the shortcuts are greyed out.
Gary, thanks for your great tutorials. I downloaded your clipping app. But, when I click it and try to run it, nothing happens.I tried it on the mac and iPhone, and the problem is the same. Thanks.
The app is for the Mac. You can't even download it on the iPhone so I'm not sure what you were doing there. When you launch it on the Mac, it appears at the top right in the menu bar. Like you see in this video. If you don't see it there, it could be because you already have a full Menu Bar. See the troubleshooting video at vimeo.com/791281569/69928ffdd0
Thanks Gary for this video and your generosity in providing an app free of cost. I use an app called copy clip for copying Bible verses in different languages and later paste those verses in video titles. Does your app allow adding text in different languages? My use for using these kinds of apps are for limited uses such as the one I a currently using.
Hi Gary, I thank you for this useful app... but I've got two problems with this new feature: 1) At first, the menu on the left appeared empty despite the actual presence of the clips. 2) After a while, the app started crashing every time I tried to access the Clip Manager (and still does). 🤷🏻♂ FYI, I work on a MacBook Pro Retina 15" mid 2015 with macOS Monterey 12.7.3.
1) Did you update to version 1.4.1 yet? What you are describing was a problem for those that has older versions of macOS. But 1.4.1 should fix it. 2) See if 1.4.1 fixes that. Hopefully it does. If not, contact me through macmost.com/cliptools and let me know the details like which version of macOS. I can give you some troubleshooting advice if it is still happening after updating.
Gary, First a well deserved thank you for your great body of work. My question is it possible to find all "+" [plus signs] in a body of text and then convert those selections to empty spaces eg "the+quick+brown+dog" becomes "the quick brown dog" - or one step further, would be to capitalize the words "The Quick Brown Dog".
Yes. Create a Smart Clip that uses replace to do it from the selection. This is how it would look: {title:Convert + To Spaces}{selection}{replace:+| } Remember the space after the | in the replace. Then you can use the menu and Change Selection Case with Capitalize Words as a second step.
I have added several letters I send out to Saved Clips. I have made sure I have selected them and chosen Rich Text. These letters have links. When I copy and past a letter into an email some of the letters have clickable links and some of them are not clickable. I hope that makes sense.
Never mind. I got it to work. I copied and pasted the clickable links to the letter that were not working and now they are. 👏 This is going to save me a lot of time.
Hi, Gary good to see your videos.. Can you provide some options functioning similar or alike with that of Liquid Text .. Or some inbuilt app or other app which provides for taking notes, highlighting, and marking documents which runs into large number of pages as is possible in Liquid Text, it would be a Great Help...
They announced the m3 MacBook Air with 16 gigs of ram and 512 gigs of storage as a third option. Does this mean you can go and buy it with 16 gigs of ram at any store that sells MacBooks and not have to order it from Apple’s website?
I'll echo (and hopefully clarify) this sentiment. I'd be delirious if you would create a companion iOS app that syncs clipboard contents, smart clips, etc. I use Copy 'Em on both my Macs and iPhones, iPads but it is clunky, cumbersome and often unreliable. In fairness part of that may be due to OS limitations but this Clip Tool seems so much more elegant and efficient.
I think it is important to have a focus for something like this. Text, calculations and programability are my focus here. Including multimedia clipboards would add a whole other level. I think it would get to unwieldy for a single developer.
This is the VERY REASON I'm a Patreon member - the value of a tool like this, and ALL of the tutorials you provide, have been priceless to this Wiondows convert. Thank you so much Gary!

Such a useful tool Gary. I use it multiple times a day. It's great that you keep adding new features.
The inclusion of the clip manager window has turned a useful tool into an invaluable tool. Many thanks 😊
This is a great addition. I use Cliptools a lot in desktop publishing, very easy to strip the formatting from the text. Thanks for this service Gary!
Thanks for the app Gary. Your app saved lots of time.
Fantastic new feature! Thank you Gary! Well thought out!

Can't believe that this App is free. So useful.
Gary, this is absolutely awesome. I've just set up a shortcut to something I use every day. Outstanding work!
Beautiful tool! Very dense!
You just have to remember all the features in your head!
A very useful and informative video tutorial today! Thank you, Gary! Sounds like fun! 👏❤️
Thanks very much, Gary, for this informative video! A great new feature.

Fantastic tool Gary. Maybe this will eventually get incorporated into the OS. Thanks for all you do. I've learned so much from your videos.

Looks great and will add a lot to its usability. Any chance you could make the left hand pane resizable?

Hi Gary loveee the app, and thanks for making it free.. can I please request you to make the logo a little minimalist 🌻
Amazing! Can you provide more details of how to develop such things?
Not sure what sort of information you are looking for there. I used Xcode and Swift to make this, like many modern Mac apps.
I already used two clip managers, but this looks interesting, however I'll need to wait until I upgrade my OS as I'm still on Mojave
Really looks cool. How does it work with images??
It doesn't. ClipTools is all about text.
Love it
does this tool collect any kind of information from my mac? Is it secure to copy passwords?

paste date function gives wrong results.
2024/19/17 this the result I got now.. month value is a random number and if paste one more time then 2024/20/17 is the result.
