    NYer here. This appears to be filmed from the SW corner of 7th Street and Avenue A. That's Tompkins Square Park in the background, famed needle and crack haven (pre-Giuliani). Awesome to see this kind of footage. I was around 12 years old living in Brooklyn at the time.

    Yeah, the 7a,where my friend Lisa worked, next to the University of the Street, used to Jam there, Cafe Odessa across the street. It was loud,violent and crazy,but at the same time very romantic.It wasn't about money, it was about dreams...

      ManInTheBigHat Barely few years ago that exist the "smart phones​", so it's not hard to think, or figure out how we could live without them.

      1987 the cell was available to the public. Also in 1989 the internet was available to the public as well.

      OMG u must be a super youngin , anyway back in the day before smart phones u find ppl by going to their house , or go to that one spot in the neighborhood where everyone hangs out at or make a plan to meet up a certain spot at a certain time of the day, lol its not that hard...

    I would be around 24 when this was taken. My first visit was 1984. It was like the set of Kojak. Guns Drugs Vice & corruption! My kinda town ha ha ha.

    I could imagine if you were gay and lesiban as a white man or white woman in those times. You could run away from whatever bumfuck small towm you came from and live in the east village of NYC. Not so much if you were a POC man or POC woman cause it wasn't accepted yet at the time like it is now
