Hahaha mate! Yeah I got fed up with the $18 lav USB lav I got like 4 years ago and decided to stop messing about and use a proper mic. Pretty shameful really considering I do a lot of work in live sound. I'd been wanting to upgrade for ages but was kind of adamant to not just go chasing gear if what I had worked. That said it makes a huge difference - and thanks for saying man. Still tweaking overall levels etc as OBS can be a bit pedantic between sessions for retaining settings. Thanks again man :)) x
Pro tip: when you want to add a little space before the start of a track, place a time signature change of 4/4 (or whatever meter your track is in) at the start of the first full measure. That will ensure everything stays aligned nicely, and Live will even restart the grid colouring too!
No way!! That is good! I've been doing a fair bit of client mixing lately, and anything that starts with a big kick is always a hassle to bounce. Not anymore! Nice one Tristan.
@@HumanSynthetics it fuels me creatively as well as technically. Been dipping my toe in the early hardcore and jungle waters recently, after doing mainly techno and acid for decades. Your vids have been a treasure trove.
@@VNDM-MUSIC ahh that's sick! I'm really glad to hear that. I try to explain my creative choices as much as how I go about things technically. For it's all about the creative decision making and solving the creative problems we all come up against. I'm glad that comes across :) I was on similar path! Techno, house, electronica etc. then kind of fell into breaks and jungle and got totally hooked! Cheers again
Great stuff! I really like each track, and it's fun to see how they've progressed. Your comments about how the internet has changed music production were also particularly salient for me. It still blows my mind that I can tweet at Dom & Roland, or hang out with John B on Twitch (or spam emojis in chat during a Ned Rush live stream, haha). If you told 17 year-old me I'd be able to do all that in the future, I think I would've shat myself🤣
Thanks so much Tristan! Yeah, looking back it's all a bit mad, really. This whole thing has been an experiment for me, and tbh I thought the first finished tracks would end up being self releases. I'm really pleased I could document the whole process for others to see that whilst the creative process is something akin to magic, for the large part it's persistence and application. The old 1% inspiration 99% perspiration! And yeah I completely agree! I obsessed over Ned's channel for years, and the fact we're now mates irl and hooking up for content blows MY mind. The way we interact with music and musicians, creatives, whatever - has completely changed, and for me personally, I'd have to say it's a positive. I love making things open and accessible, feels like I've got the support of a community I know to an extant, or to whom I give back not just the music, but more.
Here's a playlist of every stream I did on these tracks: ruclips.net/p/PLb4UF_CBs_tJt7diWuHtY9YEOt8v8dN99
amazing stuff mate!
Great vid as always, mate! However...dude...we need to talk about the amazing sound quality of your voice over...wow! It sounds awesome👏😮

this is really inspiring.
Thank you so much! I get untold joy from making music, but it's great to hear when that spills over and lights other fires. Cheers!

Second tunes bass line. Heard those notes in another track
Well, music has a finite spectrum of frequencies, and I think the bassline in that tune is just an octave and a fifth, so yeah you might well have.
