Am I the only one who gets chills when they hear/see this scene? Her voice and emotion is outstanding, and for some reason I get chills EVERY time. Love this movie, by the way!
This song always gets me. My mom died when i was 8 from brain cancer... i own the movie and i connect with Clive and Gypsy. This movie is my favorite. Sara Rue's voice reminds me of my moms and i wish this movie was around so i could have sang this song for my mom. She would have loved it
ejsmomma0912 I have not yet lost my parents, but my mother lost her mom recently, and she saw this on my phone and just wept. She loved Stevie, and maybe we can be closer.
yesterday was the 12th anniversary of my mom taking her own life. i think it’s no coincidence that i happened to remember this movie existed and looked it up. beautiful goth classic 🖤
I just watched this movie, and loved it. This song made me cry, as did the ending of the movie. I need to find this movie somewhere. It's a wonderful movie, and totally worth staying up til 6AM for. :'D
I once heard Henry Rollins speak about some musicians he saw seeming as though they were trying to break themselves to pieces with the music they played. Miss Rue manages to break herself, the crowd, clive's composure, and my heart. I have been stunned by this song every time I've heard it, and hearing again tonight actually ended up reconnecting me with my little sister. Few and far between are the times that heartache and heartbreak have inspired such love, and I am grateful for this song not just for its intrinsic beauty, but for the bond it helped create between my sister and I. I intend to record a cover at first opportunity.
When I was a teen and had just learned of this movie and my own gayness (2008-2010), I chllenged myself that I must find a DVD copy of this from my local charity shops. It was like a personal challenge. I saw bits and pieces of this movie from what youtube was at the time, and I ONLY wanted to see it from the DVD version. I literally asked at every shop and charity shop everyday "do you have gypsy 83 (they fucking hated me)", now I see that just a VHS is $48.... all I think is "what the fucking fuck is this shit?"
Lmao...I hope you've been able to get the DVD by now. The DVD's are still about $14-$20 on eBay so not sure where you've been looking, lol! I bought it back when it came out after seeing it from my local Blockbuster at the time (god, I miss that place!). To date, it's the best, most realistic 90's goth movie out there. Whoever was in charge of the costuming definitely knows the subculture and I'm glad for it because that's a big part of why this movie ended up so great!
@@DragonsOfSnow 3 years (and 1 month) and still nope. TBH I'm kinda thankful for that. This movie exists in my mind as one homoertic truckstop bathroom scene (thank you and no thank you youtube) and this girls one crazy emotional family heartbreak song
She spends the entire movie dressed in gothic black garb, and then here at the goth club, she appears… in a white dress singing about her Mother in Heaven… so beautiful. This movie makes me wonder what happened with those characters. They feel so close to home. I hope Gypsy followed her passions and became successful in her music career. I hope Clive found a boyfriend and came out and followed his dreams as well, and I hope they remained friends. Seeing the twin towers in the background in the graveyard afterwards… makes me wonder. Gypsy would have experienced 9/11 while living there not long after. I also hope Bambi LeBleu had a happy ending too. There is a deleted scene I believe where she is revealed to have made the trip to NYC herself to see Gypsy perform and I hate that they removed it.
I have the song (this exact version cuz I downloaded another vid into mp3 format off of youtube, but it sounds good!). If you want it pm me your e-mail!
There's a couple of good songs in this movie but for the movie itself wasn't that good kinda weak I don't know if she was really goth are just dressed like that are she wanted too be a pop singer her type of songs she sings didn't match with here style her friend yeah he's gay plus the movie didn't offer much they runaway too New York for some show mean awile Heading there they get laid could been a much better film maybe little longer more of that really dark goth vibe different story but no still has a couple of good songs in this soundtrack still a ok movie not the best in that goth type of film .
