    Recently, the market has been flooded with fake ST-Link V2 clones... fake clones, who would expect that?!? They are based on Geehy/Apexmic APM32F103CBT6 chip. They work fine with the old STM32 ST-LINK Utility, and partially with the ST-Link firmware upgrade tool, but not with STM32 Cube Programmer.

    There was no need to replace the APM chip (the Geehy version is a good one adding more peripherals like a nice FPU). It just was a software issue, not a hardware one. ST Micro includes some anticlone features within their programmer fw's. However the cheap clone is still useful. If you want to be able to use the clone as it is, just turn the shared option to "enabled" and then hit on the refresh button next to the serial number. After that the stlink will connect to the device.

      I had to delete most of my comment because YT removes it if I try to comment a solution.

      Nice to know that, yet I have no chance to verify that, as I no longer have any ST-Link with APM chip inside.

    I got a batch of these, would not work with STM32CubeProgrammer. However on Linux I was able to apt-get install the following applications which did then work with the ST-Link V2 clone.
    stlink-gui - OpenSource ST-Link tools replacement.
    stlink-tools - OpenSource ST-Link tools replacement.

      On Windows they also work with the older ST-LINK Utility.

    What is the difference between using STM32 ST-LINK Utility and STM32 Cube Programmer?

    • @TzOk
      @TzOk  Год назад +2

      Cube is integrated with the STM Cube IDE...and is way more convenient to use and better looking too.

      I replaced with STM32F103CBT6. Please note that a STM32F103CBT6 MCU costs more than a ST-LINK/v2 clone dongle.

      I have flashed the STLinkV2.J16.S4.bin without updating the bootloader, and then upgraded from Cube.

      old chip fake new authentic
      in non-idiocracy language basically the first chip was a clone and he used a hot air station to remove the clone then he got an authentic version of the clone and he used the same hot air station to put the authentic one where the original clone was
