There’s no advertising for it. Marketing isn’t there, nor is there a “culture” built around the game. No monetization (yes, this makes the game more fun) even for basic non-ptw easy stuff like buying a commander flair. Relatively high learning curve, especially since there are so many of what we call “foot guns” in the technical field, where it’s easy to click the wrong thing, and you aren’t protected from bad decisions by the GUI or a tech tree. This has its advantages, but the disadvantage is a loss of popularity.
2:36 There's been an update recently due to few people accidentally self destructing their units when they didn't mean too. The default is now Ctrl-K (not D), but if you had the game installed prior to this update it's still Ctrl-D for you. But iirc for mines you still use d regardless of whether or not you got the new default.
Every RTS game should have these commands. As much as I love Warcraft and Starcraft, having to micro dumb units that die horribly when you look away for a second is a pain if you want to play more strategically.
Another use for the "drag circel attack" is to attack units that move so fast you can't click on them relyably. The most notable example being the air crafts.
2:02 Combining the two commands is extremely useful against cloaked units. Just build a bunch of cheap units (Fleas!) and Ctrl+Alt+drag a line of them to scan/comb an area for cloaked scouts.
Can you imagine Homeworld with this amount of control? Spaceships staying out of range of their enemies while letting off their missiles at the right time? Dodging incoming fire while shooting back laser fire? I wish they would reintroduce Homeworld with these commands in 3-D!
Typing /godmode allows everyone in the game to control all units. To do so you first have to type /cheat (in singleplayer). In multiplayer I think the host has to say !cheats, and possibly /godmode only works for the autohost. Once you type /cheat there should be a cheat menu on the top left command bar that can contains many of these options.
OK, Bomber individual targeting: Select all Bombers. Press F + Right Click then drag to create circle then press Control then Release Control. Spread out targeting should be ONE hotkey for crap sake. :)
any reason to play this over supcom FAF? a lot of the mechanic are very similar but it was pretty clunky when playing and while some features seem pretty nice but idk do the 16vs16 matches actually work? what are the most played games modes?
I dont know why Zero-k is not the most popular game ever.
no truer words
because supreme commander FA exists
It's complicated and most gamers are simple minded.

I wish there was interactive tutorials in Zero-K like this.
It would improve my game for sure!

2:10 ctrl + alt move is useful when moving through uneven terrain, your units clump up less

No way! I've seen you in the leaderboards! Didn't know you were a youtuber. Great guide man, well and truly appreciated.

The commands look different now
How are you able to control two teams? Very useful for experimentation. I couldn't find out how to do this.

Beautiful. Thank you!
Would a lasso or paintbrush select be possible with the spring engine?
Yes, it would just be a lua widget. It would be easy to mod into any game.
