When the 9th edition of Warhammer 40k hit, I experimented with a few Necron paint schemes - now it is time for them to grow up and turn into something that fits the grimdark setting of the warhammer 40k universe. All of this can of course be mixed and matched with techniques from my other video to speed things up: • Paint AMAZING 10th Edi...

The one thing I admire most about your painting style, is that it's actually STYLES. This "grimdark" style has its' own techniques to master, as does the "heavy metal" style, or any other "style," for that mater. They are all disciplines, and most people (that very much includes myself) strive to get good at just the one, whereas you have quite obviously mastered multiple kinds. It's impressive to see you switch between completely different artistic expressions, and never seem to miss a step. I of course understand that you work day and night on your craft to produce these results, but it still never fails to blow my mind how you so effortlessly transition from one style to the next. That miniature quite literally looks like a two-dimensional, canvas-style painting wrapped around a three-dimensional object. Kudos to you and all that you do for us, and have a great week.

If all I saw was the final product, I’d swear to God that you built a life-sized Necron ( a mind-blowing achievement on its own). Your ability to achieve such fine depth and details is a true thing of beauty.

I watch you and other painting focused youtubers for 2 reasons:
    - to see a new scheme for something and get inspired (this one)
    - to learn new technique / more nuances of technique I know and want to utilise to greater effect
Video I'd love to see would be a color scheme centered around nice "medium" purple, neither flashy and pinkish, nor dark. It's a color that I love but have a hard time implementing.

Can we take a minute to just forget about the master of brush control and the number of different techniques used in this piece, and just truly appreciate the colors used in this paint scheme. The whole "Feel" of this composition begins to take shape around 11:49. This piece has this dreadful and dreary tone, takes me to a dark place and fills me with excitement watching it take shape.
I watch videos like this and I'm so inspired to paint. Thank you for these uploads!

As for W+, it wouldn't be for me, but for my brother. He is permanently disabled and I've been trying to get him into 40K and Kill Team games to get him out of the house and be with people again, current conditions allowing. W+ is something that can help him get more into the GW side of the hobby. I play non-GW games, so I am not a good resource of information for him, but something like W+ would be something he could work with easier.

Fantastic as always, I’m painting up a Necron force at the moment and will definitely use elements of this. Loved your interpretation of the blade/energy globes on the model. I never quite liked the general method of painting the blades with the green energy overwhelming the blade, didn’t make sense for robots that have laying dormant for millions of years to look like they’ve been through a car wash before hitting the battlefield.
I subscribed to Warhammer+ and while it’s early days for the content it’s just another great source for ideas on how to paint your particular favourite army or individual model.

As always, an eye blasting tutorial from you! That armour leapt up five levels when you added that brown/orange wash. Great technique that I hope to use in my next project. Thanks for sharing that.

Stumbled onto this video and its exactly what I've been searching for! Grim dark style but taken to a high level rather than being used as a quick and dirty paint method.
Haven't looked through your videos yet but really hoping theres more like this!

11.05 'to make the armour look a bit more interesting'. At that point I already thought It looked really interesting:-) But indeed, it really pushed it even further. Great video!

I'd love to enter the givaway! From WH+ I'd like to see something worthwhile, something of great quality that keeps me glued to the screen. Hammer and Bolter were definitely NOT up to the task for me, but I'm still in good hope something great will come along eventually.
As for the Necron, dude, love it. Quite simple to do, but still with a great focus on the green light sources, and the weathering (I play Death Guard just as an excuse to weather the shit out of my minis) looks great! Keep up the good work.

Nice work! I’ve been working with some fluorescent yellow and green paint on my necron terrain, and your video will help solve some of the problems I’ve had getting to the right brightness.
