That's where I thought Shaun was going with the drone, as well. Though, his drone would probably need a pair of these as a light source to help see where he was going inside Lallybroch (it's probably pretty dark in there 👀): www.lumecube.com/shop/lume-cube-phantom-3-kit
I was thinking that's what he was going to do, too! Well, not *through* the windows, since they do clearly have glass in them, but at least *up to* them, to look in.
Shaun I just LOVE your blogs! I am planning to go to Scotland in 2020 as I do have ancestry in Scotland, I am even trying to teach myself Gaelic, and I found out that my ggggreat grandmother lived on Lord Lovat's Estate and her name was Georgina Fraser! how cool is that!
How cool! You've probably already discovered this by now, but there are a pair of books called the "Outlandish Companion", volumes 1 and 2, which accompany the book series, which contain an incredible amount of information - most notably, a primer on Gaelic, and an extensive glossary of the Gaelic used in the books.
As you tour, I would love to know more about the actual history of each location, how to get there, as well as the significance to Outlander. Just a wee tip.. :) Thanks for the videos!
The drone video of Lallybroch was gorgeous! Thank you! Your Vlog's are so interesting and I'm super excited to continue watching where you go on future locations.
You really need to read the books!! I've read them 2x while waiting for the next one to be finished. Thank you for doing this for the crazy fans that we are 😊
✨Shaun: OUTSTANDING JOB‼️ You're a first-class Outlander Ambassador! 👍 TwinkleMom and I look forward to more of these tour videos and really appreciate the additional historical details and logistical tips you include. Great drone work, too, BTW - nice touch. And working in a live interview with another Lallybroch visitor was brilliant. We'll contribute to your Patreon channel ... maybe one of these days we'll be fortunate enough to get a "Tour by Shaun."✨🤗
Oh and, have you started reading the books yet? Lallybroch is in season 4 because someone else comes looking for Claire there :) I won't give spoilers away though
Oh no, Shaun! I just watched Roamin Scot's clip about you getting in trouble for filming at Lallybroch :( You'd think they would be pleased for the publicity, but seems they don't like that it has become a tourist attraction :( Do they not see the potential their property has?! Imagine if they could fix up the insides, and deck it out how the sets look on Outlander! Fan's would happily pay entry fees to tour it
Why *should* they be happy about it? Too many people here in the US seem to think that making money and capitalizing on fame and "potential" is the end-all and be-all of everything and everyone, everywhere in the world, but that is simply not true.
So Shaun, my wife and I spent 8 days in Scotland, visiting from the States...only 8 and it was NOT enough... but on our last day, we visited Midhope Castle. It was the Friday evening (less than 24 hours) before you did this blog. You may remember it was raining the day before. Should have flown out on Sunday then we would have been the ones you interviewed. We WILL be back...
Shaun, thank you for posting these Scotland vids....Scotland had been a loooooooong dream of mine. Sadly, I can no longer afford a trip like that, but I have mobility issues. Your vids let me tour THE one country I've always wanted to see....thanks!
I am from Brazil and there is quite a lot of Outlander fans in here! I am living in Belgium now so I hope I can visit your amazing country and also the locations for the serie :) Thank you for sharing
I think your videos are wonderful. Love listening to you. Thank you from someone who just realized my grandparents were McMullen and I have 50% Scottish DNA. Incredible country and cannot wait to visit.
Hello, I'm Susan in Texas and I'm also hooked on Outlander. :) What a fantastic idea to visit all the filming locations and vlog about it! And that LEAFLET is totally COOL!!! Such a shame they don't teach you about the clans and tartans... you have such a rich history. I look forward to exploring it with you on RUclips, and hopefully, someday in person for myself. The drone footage was great and so is the background music.
You've always said that you wanted to show us more of Scotland and you've delivered indeed. Thank you for the amazing content and i hope i will be supporting you on Patreon. Keep it up
Don't want to give it away but one person in the fourth book is going back in time and that person ends up in Lallybroch. I think your vlogs are great! Especially the drone. Love that you had the Outlander music it was a nice touch. Thanks from Montréal!
Chantal Paquette I just finished reading the last book (for the third time) and remembered that Lallybroch is use in that one as well. They have quite a few times to be going back there in the seasons to come.
Libby Harper so did I. Drums of autumn is my favourite one out the series. Shaun did not want to say more but if you want more info happy to talk about it. Don't want to start a war on "Spoilers". Bye!
Being from America I can say it's always a great thing to meet and speak to people from around the world. I loved to see how excited you got at the prospect of speaking to some American tourists. I love your videos ❤️
You did a fantastic job. I am in Texas not where Hurricane Harvey is, but I was getting depressed from watching all day. This video was refreshing to me and a greatly needed moment of joy to watch.. Thank you.
Love your tartan shirt....but it may clash with your tartan kilt....which you should totally be wearing for these Outlander vlogs!!! 😂💜 Pity there wasn't an open window, you could have flown the drone through to check out the inside of Lallybroch!
Hi Shaun. Love your vlog. I’ve been an Outlander fan since 1997, and have visited Scotland 3 times as a result. You drone footage of Lallybroch is stunning and the music is perfect. Thank you.
Castle Leoch is a must! Just saying. Amazing videos Shaun, you with your scotish accent in Lallybroch and a drone flyng over you both...amazing!. Thanks for sharing the love for the story and for your country. Makes it really special to see the series. ;)
Only 7 weeks exactly from today and my friends and I will witness the beauty of Scotland with our own eyes. I love watching your videos. Just hypes me even more for Outlander Season 3 and the upcoming journey. Keep up the good work! Btw. Love the tartan shirt!
I am so excited, I will be there in 3 weeks!! I am coming from the states and I hope to see as many of the Outlander castles and areas where they filmed, as possible! I love all your videos, very informative!
Fantastic tour Shaun, what a nice building.. My daughter is in Scotland at the moment and having a nice time.. Enjoyed your video, great share mate... Carl
That was lovely....if you run out of Outlander spots....how about following the trail of Monarch of the Glen, I know it has become quite the tourist attraction too but I imagine you'd be able to find some unique locations!!
This is so amazing! Thank you so much for doing this! For someone like me who may never get to see these places, but being so interested in them, I just wanted to let you know that your efforts are very much appreciated!!! Much ❤️ to ya 😘
Doune Castle aka Castle Leoch is fantastic, you'll love it there. My husband and I were there the month before they started filming Outlander. That's how I found out about the series, one of the staff at the castle told us they were closing for filming. We initially went there because it was the site in Monty Python and The Holy Grail, and also was used for Winterfell in the pilot episode of Game of Thrones. Great location.
Shaun! Good vlog! Have you been able to read any of the books yet? =) It is very kind of you to do this for the Outlander fans. I am sure fans who plan to visit the film locations will find your tips on how to visit the sites useful (eg. needing a parking pass for the property and such). I am glad you keep your other vlog themes going as well. I have certainly enjoyed seeing your adventures!.
@@shaunvlog And have you yet? I just discovered the series in June, when I was sick in bed with pneumonia - and devoured the entire thing in a couple of weeks, and all of the books in a couple of months. The whole megillah, in a little over 4 months. And I just discovered *you* today; will be subscribing to follow this tour! (I love, love, love the shirt, too, BTW!)
I'm a big Outlander fan also from Edinburgh and I can't believe Lallybroch is so close to me. Definitely going to fo visit there very soon. I'm also a member of a Scottish field archery club and we've had quite a few shoots in Inverness so I will be stopping for a wee deek at Cullloden and the stones (altho I know Craigh na dun isn't real I know there's standing stones there) I can't believe I havn't been before but better late than never. Loving your vlogs 😍
Shaun, so glad to find you on here. This video is a couple of years old but as I said I just discovered you and your brilliant. I love Outlander and I've watched the last 4 season. I'm from California in the states. I'm excited for the new season to start in February. I hope you film and do some commentary on that. I would love to come to Scotland some day and I'm completely interested in accents and history. Hope your doing well..cheers!
Been looking forward to this for ages ever since you announced it on one of your videos and this was thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining. Can't wait to see more of these and can't wait to see you hopefully do Linlithgow Palace 😀
I'm looking forward to seeing your videos about Scotland!! It's such a beautiful country from what I've seen so far. I was watching The Kilted Coaches and they mentioned they will be doing a collaboration with you at some point. Looking forward to that when it happens too. :)
Omg this is so amazing I can’t believe it I’m so obsessed with outlander right now I love it and I can listen to your voice all day so awesome I’ll wach you all the time
Next time you go visit Jamie and Claire, give them my best from the fire and ice, in Iceland. Seeing the series I see our countries are very the same, the mountains and landscape, but we don't have the castles. :-/ I so want to come visit Scotland. Look forward to see your next vlog.
I'm from Falkirk mate and went there couple year back but now there trying to stop folk from going there because the wee house next to it and the working farm but I say stuff that. We are in Scotland and we walk where we want!
Thanks for visiting Lallybroch for me, since I can't get to Scotland myself. OH, but I'd love to! My husband is a MacEachen of Clanranald and we 've always wanted to visit. Glad to hear they are about to film again. Sans spoilers, a major character will visit Jenny and Ian at Lallybroch early in season 4. Thanks so much for doing these vlogs!
Hi Shaun, as a HUGE Outlander fan, I've really enjoyed my recent discovery of your vlog and really love seeing a true Scot doing the Outlander location tour! My grandmother moved to America from Ayreshire as a young girl, so I my ancestors were Clan McClellan. Next summer will be my first visit to Scotland and I am SOOOOO excited! Thank you for your first hand knowledge of such an amazing country! :)
Oh my! My Dad was the black sheep of family and taught my brother n me we were Irish! Come to find out we are Scottish! So many clues over the years. We are fearless with travel and red haired blue eyed and have been picked out by Scots as a Scot. Same outlook and could never find the county in Ireland we came from. Lol
I don't know if it was there before or after this video, but I read the linked site, "The use of drones for filming and photography is strictly forbidden on Hopetoun Estate without prior permission" so I feel lucky to have seen your drone footage.
In October 2019, we got a taxi there and just showed up. Luckily, the site was open. There was a charge of a few pounds to walk up and see the house. Hopefully, they will accumulate enough funds to restore the house. Midhope is difficult to find. It's down a one lane road, lined by stone walls and sheep pastures. It's a lovely pastoral area, but lots of twists and turns. We passed through an area of private houses and cottages and someone has erected a homemade directional sign that says Lallybroch. Wish I'd got a photo of that.
Wow thank you so much for taking us around the Outlander film locations. I'm so so excited to see your upcoming videos. My grandmother's grandmother was Scottish. All the very best for your trip. Much love from Australia.
Hi Shaun fantastic you are doing this, loved the Outlanders books since 2009! Might dread them all again! Just watching Outlander series 2. So good to see all these REAL scenes! I am in Devon so this is great to see and one day may get up to Scotland, until then please continue this please LOVE this Shaun x
I love your videos. You are doing a great job taking us on this wonderful adventure. I have been watching outlanders for 5 years! Thank you so much for taking the time to show us beautiful Scotland. Do honestly wish my father's ancestors were not chase out of the country during the Jacobite times .
Shaun, My favorite scene of the archway was during last season. Claire was back in the future, sitting on the porch missing Jamie. They showed an image of him as she knew him...so heart breaking! Cannot wait for next season in 10 days!!!
Gorgeous work! I loved the books and the filmmakers did Lallybroch justice. I recently found out that Castle Leoch was filmed at the same castle as the one in Monte Python.
I really want to do that tour! I live in the West End of Glasgow which apparently plays Boston in the upcoming season, so I won't have far to visit that location ;-))
I’m so jealous! You LIVE in Scotland and are able to live in such a lovely country which also has so many amazing Outlander locations to visit AND you had the opportunity to go to my home country of Brazil. I miss Brazil a lot. I hope you had a wonderful time!! Cheers!
Hello Shaun What a shame it’s abandoned 😞 I love outlander. I watched the show at least 4 times, the 4 seasons obviously 😃 Thank you so much Shaun, you’re a gem to let us live these awesome moments. It’s quiet overwhelming actually with a lot of emotions. I am in love with Scotland and the Scottish culture since I am a wee lass 😉 Looking forward to seeing all your vlogs ❤️ Cheers from Paris
I love Scotland and I've been looking into the history of Scotland for a bit. I'm from the Netherlands and I hope to visit Scotland some day. I really want to know a lot more about the Scottish history!
Love Scotland...I was able to visitor Endinburgh back in 1999. My wife and I plan to visit togther someday. Weather was pretty good too! Cheers from Dartmouth Nova Scotia...New Scotland 😀
I love your series. I just finished watching the entire 3rd series of Outlander. I wish I could visit Ireland and Scotland. I’m 15% Irish which is confirmed by dna but I’m also 9% Scottish and 65% English. If I had the money I would do visit the UK. My relations in Ireland were named Higginson. I also know my Irish tartan colors but I don’t know much about my Scottish DNA. I have located some but mostly women and maiden names but not much further than that as Ancestry is very limited on certain details. Your Vlogs give me an incite on the beautiful country. My father played with the Glenco Highlanders all while I was growing up. I learned to play a bagpipe at 10. My dad also taught lessons at Stetson here in Deland Florida. I love the culture, this history, the music, and the lore.
Greetings from San Diego, California. I soooo Love your tartan flannel-your Outlander flannel! I also very much enjoyed your video of Lallybroch and all of your knowledge and info on Scotland. Such a beautiful country.
I looooooovvedd this video!!!!!! Thank you so much for this. You are so awesome!!!!! I am just catching up since I just discovered you. All the things.
So excited about this series Shaun!👏🏻👏🏻Thank you so much especially for adding the logistic details ehehe will defenitely be super handy when I go visit in December/January(hopefully Midhope Castle will be open)! And Love the Outlander Shirt!👍🏻👍🏻
Erin recommends your channel. I've been in Scotland years ago for some weeks. I did the trip out of the beaten track. I visited Edinburgh, Glasgow, Portree.. I saw The Highlands Games.. anyway I had a great time! I will come back someday. Greetings from Barcelona!
Hi Shaun. Thanks for the Outlander vlogs, they are great. I am a great fan of the series and have all the books that I've read at least 8 times each. My mom was from Glasgow and I still have relations there. I also enjoy your vlogs while you are in Brazil. It is a beautiful country. I have even watch a few of the telenovela's that are on the web. I don't speak Portuegese, but I can always get the idea of what is going on. I also love the music. Keep up the great vlogs Shaun. I really do appreciate them.

Owners of Midhope Castle should renovate the interior and turn it into a museum or bed & breakfast.
As time goes on and the show remains popular (or grows even bigger), I'm sure they will.
The cost of rebuilding the interior and restoring Midhope House to its former glory would be extremely high. I'm guessing $3M (US). Do you have that amount?
Kinda Like what was done for Highclere Castle in Downtown Abbey!!!!

Rainbow JenJen I was wondering why he didn't go to the back side of castle with his drone. I knew there had to be a reason.
Why *should* they be happy about it?
Too many people here in the US seem to think that making money and capitalizing on fame and "potential" is the end-all and be-all of everything and everyone, everywhere in the world, but that is simply not true.
They're probably worried that someone will try to enter the castle and possibly get hurt. It's probably an insurance liability.

DMP hey thanks so much for the comment. Can’t wait for the new season too 😀
I love you used your drone. Drone are amazing. I feel like a beautiful crow ( my fav bird)
Omg this is so amazing I can’t believe it I’m so obsessed with outlander right now I love it and I can listen to your voice all day so awesome I’ll wach you all the time
I was there a couple of weeks ago on an Outlander tour. It was pretty cool! I got to say Falkland was my favorite location to visit though.
Next time you go visit Jamie and Claire, give them my best from the fire and ice, in Iceland.
Seeing the series I see our countries are very the same, the mountains and landscape, but we don't have the castles. :-/
I so want to come visit Scotland.
Look forward to see your next vlog.
Thank u so much for let us seeing this. So glad to have you in this little Outlander family.
Love the show! They just added the 3rd season to Netflix yesterday. So happy! 😃
Lol
I'm really excited to see what you have in store for your channel!
I loved it! Can't wait for the next videos :)
It is wonderful to see a Fiat 500 in the Highlands !!! Great videos, thanks Shaun
Great video. Love being able to see the locations as they are today. Wish I could come visit. Maybe someday
Thank you David, I hope you do come over!
Thank you for doing these videos! My husband and I have enjoyed watching! It's a dream of ours to visit Scotland one day.
Cheers!
Hello Shaun
What a shame it’s abandoned 😞
I love outlander. I watched the show at least 4 times, the 4 seasons obviously 😃
Thank you so much Shaun, you’re a gem to let us live these awesome moments. It’s quiet overwhelming actually with a lot of emotions.
I am in love with Scotland and the Scottish culture since I am a wee lass 😉
Looking forward to seeing all your vlogs ❤️
Cheers from Paris
Buy that castle !!! Make there be more to see and do there! $$$
I love Scotland and I've been looking into the history of Scotland for a bit. I'm from the Netherlands and I hope to visit Scotland some day. I really want to know a lot more about the Scottish history!
I love how you cut in the timelapse and creative shots. I look forward to how creative you get with your drone.
Makenna Cornwall thank you so much Makenna really glad you liked the shots 😊😊😊
Thank you Shaun for delving into your history.
Totally want to visit here! Need to put it on my bucket list =)
Thank you for the video! Now I wish to go there !!! I am from Russia and I love "Outlander"
Greetings from San Diego, California. I soooo Love your tartan flannel-your Outlander flannel! I also very much enjoyed your video of Lallybroch and all of your knowledge and info on Scotland. Such a beautiful country.

Music played got tears in my eyes. I'm so fascinated and in love with Scotland because of outlander series.
