Lightoller reminds me of nurse Violet Jessop, a woman who was on board and survived the Olympic , Titanic, and their sister ship Britannic's disastrous wrecks. The first ship, Olympic, collided with another boat and needed to have repairs, sending Jessop to board the Titanic months later. After Titanic's deadly demise, Britannic was to be the next largest cruise ship, turned into a hospital ship when WWI started, thus making it a target for the enemies. Britannic hit a German mine and sunk just as Titanic did, but quicker, and Violet barely escaped the horrific wreck. Thankfully there were less casualties because the ship carried more lifeboats, only 30 people died, mostly because they didn't listen to authorities and landed their lifeboats too close to the propellers at the end of the ship. Violet was hit by part of the ship's propeller but managed to survive. She's been dubbed "Miss Unsinkable," living till the age of 84.

My great-great Grandfather was a fisherman. His boat was called up for service in the merchant navy as a mine sweeper in the first world war. His boat hit a mine but as he was the captain, he was situated at the very top, farthest away from the explosion. It killed everyone but him. He was left relatively unharmed and was called back for action just a month later. But, yet again, his boat struck a mine. Luckily, he survived again along with several others this time. World war one ended and he lived happily ever after. But he didn't, as now another war broke out and he, at the age of ~60, chose to assist with the Dunkirk evacuations in France. He made his way there safely and collected several English personnel, but -as you likely guessed -on his way back, his boat struck a mine. He was the only surviver again. He was rescued and in the end, had survived a total of 3 mines exploding only metres away from Him in his life.

Lightoller: not really *reverse card*
Nice vid yarnhub love it
i like that the 4th chimney wasn't steaming.
@zain mudassir Only Titanic's first three smokestacks were real. The fourth was fake, and was there for show, but also provided ventilation.
@@NorthWestern1919 1 comment would have been enough
@@PU8698 I didn't think that the first one had been sent.
The aft most funnel was used for ventilation in the 1st Class Smoke Room, Engine Room and her Kitchen.

Great video by the way
My great-great Grandfather was a fisherman.
No way
I wish this channel would cover more Ocean liners
Hé also survived to a liner sinking before the titanic and survived on an island waiting for help.
That’s why when the titanic sunk, he already had the experience of a sinking, and was quite efficient with the lifeboats
Damn this Channel is very underrated keep up the great animations👏💪👍
Очень крутое видео, спасибо, YarnHub!
Loved the “I’m the king of the world” detail in the start 😂
Officers: *does not fill most of the lifeboats to full capacity*
Lifeboats: are we a joke to you?
Dam that opening was good .
