Olivia Ong The funny part is that doesn’t even happen in the book instead he gets her donuts which happens multiple times in the book but never in the movie
My favorite part was when Chris was talking to Dr. Covey about being a gynecologist and that scene in the car when he was dropping off Lara Jean for the ski trip. I laughed so much!!
The movie is everything! I’m feeling very very VERY single! And also I need a Peter Kavinsky in my life 🙃 Also Kitty was everything and I’m slightly sad that we didn’t get Jamie the dog 💔
I was expecting the christmas gathering they did like they did when their mom was still live. I was expecting that scene to be when margo found out that LJ loved Josh. But it wasnt... so yeah.
I wish the halloween scene in the book make it to the movie tho..Lara drees up as Cho Chang from HP and Peter dress up as Spider Man..and the conversation man hahaha.. but it's still cute. love the movie.
There was an article with the author (I think on Vulture) where she said they had issues with the rights to having the spiderman costume and she said that she was glad it was left out. Essentially, that if they couldn't have it that way she'd rather not have the scene at all.
I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face the entire time I watched the movie. I had my doubts about the actor who was casted to play Peter before the movie was released and ended up LOVING HIM SO MUCH! Like I just adored the movie so much and I really hope we get a sequel! As you talked about the movie I was grinning the whole time just thinking about certain parts of the movie that you were mentioning. I’m so glad you made a video so we could all gush with you xD
Ayah C For me it’s “the look” that gets me. You know how in romantic movies or scenes on tv shows a character will always give a look that tells you everything you need to know about how much love they feel for someone? I once found a thread on Twitter that talked about it and the replies were just all pictures and gifs. It’s probably one of the best threads I have ever come across haha. This one is in particular always just melts me because I love the movie and Heath Ledger so fucking much ugh twitter.com/carolineframke/status/979077107832803329?s=21
This movie was so so cute! But my only thing is: WHERE WAS PETER’S AUDI?! I feel like when I read it that was such a thing and how sometimes he would take just kitty because it was a two seater so she could show peter off to her friends. Idk haha this is such a nit picky thing but I noticed it right off the bat when I first watched it.
Yaz! I have an older brother who would drive me every time and reading the book made me realize how special it must be for someone who don't get to have brother/s to do it for them and Peter K being such a big bro to Kitty was really sweet!
I feel so bad... I haven't read the book yet, and I've just finished the movie. I have committed reader sin. I'm definitely going to read the book, though!
the movie was legit perfection, words cannot describe! I loved that scene where Lara Jean had Peter and her as her phone background and then she was like I should probably change it and Margot was like or you could talk to him and then she went to the lacrosse field and then he was like I love you and she drove to the field for him, she faced her fears for him it was too cute asdfghjkl
I'm just really pissed about some of the things they left out. Why did Josh and Lara Jean not kiss? That was a huge story line and I'm so pissed off they left it out.
Erin McDonald Yes same!! I feel like some things were just too big to the plot line to be left out like the Josh/Lara jean kiss. I was just waiting for that scene to happen but instead josh was with her while she looked through peter’s notes and it was kinda weird to see that instead
So many people love this movie but I can’t relate that much, sure it was pretty cute but so much of the book was changed and I expected it but there was just too much change for me to enjoy it. I’m so disappointed
I’m honestly upset that they left out a lot of the family aspect. There was a bit but they weren’t “the song girls” and just some of the scenes they left out like Halloween, when Peter helps bake, and when they drive to get furniture for his mom made their relationship have just a little less of the impact then it does in the book imo
I'M SO GLAD YOU ALREADY HAVE THIS VIDEO UP I've been wanting to talk abt the movie with other ppl who loves the books but I don't know anyone else that's read them askfjaks The chemistry btwn Lana Condor and Noah Centineo was PERFECT. I swooned when I first heard Peter call Lara Jean "Covey." 😍 There were so many book scenes that I rly wished made it into the film (like why was I deprived of Peter dressing up as Spider-Man and the Lara Jean and Peter baking scene?) but I LOVED seeing the book moments that made it into the movie (like seeing Lara Jean with Peter's friends 😂 and the hand in back pocket scene and the school pick up!). My biggest complaint was that they didn't cast actual Koreans to play the sisters 🙄 (but I blame the media/casting directors for that). Despite this, I give the movie an A as well! I'm rly hoping for a P.S. I Still Love You movie adaptation bc this was so cute!! 😊💗
Natalie Park Yeah!!! There were a lot of little changes but I'm gonna blame movie time restraints 😂 and same ^_^ I think overall it's a great adaptation!
He reminded me of Mark Ruffalo too! I thought I would be the only one. Honestly I didn't think I would like Peter much because he wasn't what I pictured but I loved him! Loved everything. I literally started tearing up halfway through the movie because I was so happy that it was a good adaptation.
I loved it but I was mad that they didn’t add the Halloween scene when Lara jean and josh were dressed up and when Lara and Margot where sitting in her room with the spoons
Just finished! it was super adorable and cute, i wish they included some of my favorite scenes like her christmas cookie marathon and the little argument between josh and peter about their favorite cookies, and i agree Josh was a much better person in the movie lol and i found he was almost too nice with the love note scene, but i loved it, i thought everyone casted was great and the whole aesthetic was great.
Yes! I missed the christmas cookie bonanza and the whole halloween chapter with lara jean ranting about anime characters, and her & josh's harry potter outfits, and peters spiderman dance haha
Yes! I would have loved the movie more than I already do if the scene where Kitty gives Lara Jean the hat box and how she read them by herself was put in to the movie!
I loved this movie but I'm kinda disappointed they didn't put in some with the scenes like when Peter and Lara jean went on that little road trip and the halloween day and also um the part where josh tries to kiss Lara jean, but still amazing and I realize they couldn't put in every scene in the books..
Eva Sarkisjan I completely agree. They should have definitely changed some scenes and added the road trip part. To me, that was a huge moment for Lara Jean and Peters relationship. Plus, one of my favorite parts of the book
My favorite movie character was surprisingly Chris, her actress did such a good job!! And peter ofc, I was kinda meh on Noah as Peter until the srunchie scene and then I WAS IN LOVE ❤️❤️ Overall, I liked it but felt like the dialogue was kinda strange at times... I love how realistic jenny's books are about the way teens think and talk but some movie lines made me cringe and the whole selfies and social media thing was iffy, it always feels like adults writing about how they think teens post on insta loool
I liked the movie a lot. The actors who played Peter Kavinisky and Lara Jean delivered their lines so smoothly and naturally. Kitty's brutally honest comments at time made me laugh too. The part where LJ was reading her letters from Peter in front of Kitty and Josh seemed too cheesy cause his reactions seemed a little too supportive lol. I'm so glad that the movie adaption didn't suck and genuinely hope Netflix does a sequel!
THANK YOU, CHRISTINE, FOR EXISTING AND FOR BEING AS ECSTATIC AS I AM WITH THIS BOOK. 💖💖💖 (the part where you're raving about Peter is so me) Also: - I already forgot how Kitty looked like in my brain before this movie. I remember imagining her younger and smaller but her character was portrayed reeeeallly well and it was amazingly 100% Kitty in the movie. - Movie Peter made me love Book Peter even more. - the movie was imperfectly PERFECT. The acting, the direction, and the whole setting really brought the book to life. I can see why Jenny Han was so excited about it.
There were a lot of things Peter said in the film and I was just like "that's such a Peter K thing to say!!" Omg he was the perfect actor to play him. His face might not be so much like Peter's but damn, everything else about him is so Peter!
despite my disappointment at some scenes not being included from the source material and some liberties being taken with characters and plot, the representation in having a lead asian teen girl in a western mainstream rom com outweighed all of that. it made me so happy to see myself reflected in lara jean, and a lot of my asian and half asian friends have said the same. the movie itself is definitely something momentous that will create waves both as an adaption of the book, and as its own entity.
I agree. I was so excited after the trailer and while some scenes were really great, I found myself really bitter throughout the movie. I'm so mad they took out the Halloween scene, the real fight before the hot tub, the LJ/Josh kiss.
I had really high expectations too and I was mad about the black audi and how they didn’t call Margot “gogo” .i was expecting them to have Jamie fox pickle but I guess since it was a movie they had to take stuff out
im happy im not alone. your guys opinions is what i relate too because the movie was amazing, but i was just missing the vibes i had when i was reading the trilogy and it breaks my heart to not feel the same about the movie :’)
Omg I just finished it and I loved it, they did a wonderful job! THE ACTORS WERE SOO PERFECT, EVERYTHING WAS SO WELL DONE! Does somebody know If they are going to make the other? I hope so. Edit:I think my favorite part was when Peter k. picks them up on the car and I think that my favorite adapted character was Lara Jean
Alexandra Salazar I'm glad that you feel the same way and maybe the movie will make more people read the books because everyone seems to enjoy it. Except for a select few people. Thanks for your response I appreciate it.
Bessie yeah no problem! And I read somewhere else that maybe because of budgeting they left out some things, which I can understand. But they had no reason to CHANGE the things they did. It made no sense lol
I felt like the movie took parts and pieces and made it their own.. not my favorite but I’m still happy it happened and I enjoyed it even thought it’s not that similar to the book.
omggg all the feelings with everything you're saying! never have a really felt the same literal heart clenching effect of contemporary books with their adaptations but honestly, it was like reading the book for the first time all over again!! i also really love how diversely casted the covey girls were, it just shows how diverse asians are and i've never really seen myself represented so well like that before! ahhh i love it SO MUCH DAMN IT
I love that you did this video, I literally just re-read the book and right after watched the movie en I think it was PERFECT! I really loved it and I hope the second one gets make 🙌🏻🤞🏻
I loved Kitty💜 And I thought John Ambrose McClaren would be in the movie (so I thought that they would combine the 1st book with the 2nd book), but he just appears in the end...so I really hope they do the sequel!!! And I agree that they made Josh less annoying...I had the same reaction as you when Jenny Han was at homecoming...lol 💌💌💌💌💌
OMG I FEEL YOU SO HARD!!! I think my favourite scenes were the diner scene where Peter calls Covey a player then realises that she really is as innocent as she seems and is charmed because he's probably not used to that kind of straightforwardness. And Lara Jean comes to the realisation that she's the only one who didn't know Lucas is gay, her thoughts are just broadcasted so openly on her face and I love that she's surrounded by these really socially intelligent people and she is so cute and dense. Hahaha. And that scene on the bench where she's writing out the contract and that sweet smile she does when she puts her foot down and says the no kissing rule is non negotiable. I think I fell for her right that moment. A++
I’m so happy you feel the same way I do about this adaptation! First time I watched a movie adaptation where I thought everything was so perfect and I was just so happy the entirety of the movie! The casting was perfect (I totally was thinking Peter was a Matthew and Mark mix), the cinematography was perfect, the wardrobe was perfect, and the overall atmosphere. This just makes me so happy, it was so strange how they were able to capture the exact mood and atmosphere of the book onto the screen. Everything down to the house looked as I imagined. And the chemistry was so unreal! Loved it!
I’ve already watched this movie twice and plan on watching it a third time today!! Every reaction from this video was my exact reaction as well. Each character was portrayed beautifully and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!!!
I reread the book before watching it and this is one of the most accurate adaptations I’ve seen in a while. AND ALL THE MUSIC MATCHED THE SCENES SO PERFECTLY
I LOVED THE MOVIE! It was so beautifully similar to the book- it was almost the exact same plot. All the Easter eggs had me so happy- the yogurt, kitty originally being called Katherine, the Skype call, the party and peter coming to get her before hand, the dad cooking the Korean food, the hand in the back pocket, the Fight Club, kitty askingfor a dog, the scene with Largy and were LJ gets picked up, Peter getting the snacks for LJ for the bus (sad they weren’t the maple donuts), the Christmas cookies, the notes, Lara’s dirty room and her hating driving, the hot tub and her going in wth the nightgown then kissing in the hall before they parted, the contract, the braid crowns and kitty making them and OH GOD AND I COULD GO ON AND ON AND ON!! This movie was a great adaptation and it was so wonderfully made! I couldn’t stop smiling
Literally just finished watching the film and this was the perfect way to relive it. Watching you gushing about it made me feel better about being in my mid-twenties and loving this film. LOL.
My favourite part was when Lara Jean agrees to fake date on the lacrosse field and Peter just kisses her. It was so smooth and perfect and amazing. My friend and I had to pause the movie cause we were so shook! I just love whenever Peter smiled cause his nose crinkled and it was so cute. OML and when they kiss on the track and the teachers just like "HEY! STOP THAT!" hahahaha
Also I was literally the same. I watched to movie alone and the entire time I just kept saying ‘this is perfect! This is so perfect!’ out loud to no one. Loved it! Definitely one of my favourite book to movie adaptations! Also love your reviews!x
So i read the book, finished it his morning, and immediately started the movie. I love it soooo much. I found myself wanting to compare the movie to the book which I still did because I like to compare but it was just so beautiful. The small changes were things that didn’t upset me that they were changed because it all just cane together so perfectly. Absolutely love kitty. And Lara jeans room?! So cute! Also the ending was so adorable! Getting to them get back together unlike the book was just, mm, perfection.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REACTION!!! so many book lovers didn't like it because it wasn't like the book and they don't understand how it's an adaptation and they can't just copy paste it because it won't work in a film perspective and YOU UNDERSTAND THAT SO THANK YOU I LOVED THE MOVIE TOO
I loved the beginning- though a few missing scenes from the book made me very sad (Halloween, and mainly just a lot more of Lara Jean and Peter hanging out.) but the end kinda annoyed me because it really seeped into book 2- which I guess makes sense from a movie sense because it needs to end if they don’t get another, but I loved the beginning of book 2 when she almost doesn’t give him the letter and AW that part is cute, and now it’ll never be made into movie form
see I haven't read the book so I got to experience the movie for itself. i was actually sobbing at the end. it was so good!! what stood out to me the most was the aesthetic of the film. the production design and cinematography was so different from all the other contemporary adaptations. they all kind of have the same look, it's as if the studios don't trust teens with a different color palettes and distinctly composed shots. I'm so happy this movie exists. honestly, it deserves to be held right up there with the 80s Hughes classics and other iconic romantic movies. it's truly special
I just finished the movie like five minutes ago so your timing is PERFECT! Oh my lord do I adore this movie. Even though some things weren't exactly as they were in the books I was so happy with this movie because it felt like the book. The tone, acting, coloring, and set design was absolutely on point with this movie. And they didn't 'teenify it' like you were talking about with the Darkest Minds movie. It felt like how real teens actually act, no bullshit about what 'kids want to see' which I sooooo appreciate. I want Netlflix to adapt all YA novels now, whether into series or movies they have clearly established they can do it best. Ugh, this is probably a top ten film now just because it gave me all the warm and fuzzies the books gave me. 11/10 would watch every night for a year.
am i the only one who didnt like it aaaaaaaHHH like it was missing so many things from the book?? also they make genevieve sound super petty. also theyre the song girls not the covey girls :(((((( i reread the book beforehand so maybe thats why i had such high expectations but i really felt so many important things got taken out.
I agree with you. Genevieve sounds like a complete bitch when in the book, it wasn't obvious and she didn't treat LJ badly in front of people. Peter was meant to still be supporting Genevieve and wanting her rather than arguing with her and breaking things off so it looks like LJ is being dramatic. Josh was barely there even though he was supposed to be super close to the whole family and the few times we saw him, he was usually angry. They changed why Kitty sent the letters too. //sigh
I loved it too!! Have already watched it twice and just want to keep watching it😂 I loved when the sisters were talking and Lara Jean was like "I guess I have to change my background now" and that picture of them sleeping was so dang adorable!! I loved it so much!
i watched it last night at midnight too and OH my GOSH it was the fluffiest, most adorable, soft movie i have ever seen i had to keep pausing it to flail and cry AHHHHHHH
I guess if I hadn’t read the books, I would’ve enjoyed the movie more. When I was watching it, I couldn’t help but feel deprived of all my fave book scenes. I really would’ve preferred if they showed at least a cute little montage of how Lara Jean and Peter’s relationship developed. I never really saw the progress in the film, hence the lack of feels for me. Glad I read all these other comments because I thought I was the only one who felt this way. The movie is good but the book is way better IMO.
I am so there with you! I live in mid-Europe, so I watched it at 9 am and I had to watch it with ice-cream, so I had ice-cream for breakfast. I absolutely loved it as well. I am so ridiculously pleased with this adaptation! I loved that the characters actually looked like they go to high-school and not (as in many many movies, like they are college age). I loved the chemistry between LJ and Peter so much. My favorite scene was at the beginning, when they are in the diner and he teases answers out of her. It was just perfect. I loved the whole movie and cannot wait for the next 2 movies - hopefully they are coming. I think this is my fav book to movie adaptation so far. I will watch it again one of these days, just for things that I probably missed the first time around.
OmG !! Your thoughts are exactly like mine. I was also worried about it ending when i was half way through it. And just when you said he looks like a mixture of some othet actors, I immediately thought "mark and daddario" and the next moment you said it. I am actually blown away how our thoughts just clicked. 😂
Yasssss I totally get the Mark Ruffalo comparison. It’s the voice and his delivery that sounds so similar, but also a cuter version. And Thank you. I had the same enthusiasm while watching.
I really liked it, but if I hadn't read the book I probably would have loved it, I was just a tad bit disappointed they left so many scenes out. I am obsessed with the series so I definitely wanted to see the auction scene and how she bonded with the old man who confused her for the grand daughter, the scene where she crashed I believe the main scene that defined how close she really was to josh and her first real interaction with peter in years( and later used as the moment they hit it off), the cookie debate would have been a cute scene as well. The KISS! And how Kitty sent the letters out of spite and still hadn't met peter. I loved the book and how their sister relation wasnt always cute it sometimes got ugly and they'd bicker like real sibling and So much more! Overall the film is amazing just wished they would have kept more scenarios in. I think the Fault in Our Stars has been the only book to movie adaptation that I have been completely satisfied with. Lol
I saw this video in my subscriptions so I went and watched the movie straight away. I loved it and was so blown away by how cute it is and well it’s made one of my new fave romcoms for sure.
That's so funny, Peter was so different to how I pictured too and josh was exactly like how I pictured-I missed Jenny's cameo, will go back and watch now!
I really loved when Peter stood up for Lara Jean when he saw the girls watching the video. Their relationship was super cute! I also loved the part when she went to his lacrosse practice and read her note to him! Oh my gosh I am so glad I watched the movie and read the book. It was soooo cute :)
My favorite scene was when LJ read those notes from Peter and realizes that he has loved her all along and she did receive letters, just not in the way she expected 😍😍😍😍 It was perfect 😍😍😍❤
Hmmmm, am I the only one who was very disappointed by the movie? I LOVED the book and all the movie was was a teenage love story that I feel like I’ve seen a million times. To me the book was about Lara overcoming her inability to get close to people because of her moms death and her self realization. They took the Lara and peter story, put it on steroids, and turned it into a stereotypical love story. I think the book deserved more than that
Yeah just watched it today! It's going to be interesting how they work with another movie since they blended elements from the second book in the movie. And if they title the next movie P.S. I Still Love You, it seems like they'll have to add in the third book... idk. But it was cute!
I wanted to love it so much, but i feel like I’m the only one who didn’t :( i felt like they turned their lovely slowburn into instalove, it felt very rushed, and i tought they blew past all the important conflicts, the kiss with josh, the argument with peter, the drama with margot... I don’t get why they chose to not develop those issues and added the whole sex tape thing on this first movie So i was a little disappointed... that being said the casting was a+, i love how cris and lucas were so present, and some scenes were perfection like the hot tub scene 😍
i love love looooved it! I think I was actually mostly in love with Lara Jean's room to be honest haha! Every little detail from the full shelf of Nancy Drew books, to the realistic look of the clothes on her floor, to the gorgeous statement flower painted wall! Ugghh I'm obessed
This was a such a lovely book-to-movie adaptation! The scenes where Lara Jean and Peter’s contract came to life were the cutest. And I loved the part where Lara Jean finds out that Kitty mailed her letters-such a realistic sibling moment that I think everyone with brothers or sisters can relate to. 😂
Okay this entire video of you freaking out incoherently about this movie is ME! This is basically how I felt about it; it was SO fucking cute and adorable and I just want to watch it a million times over and over again
I LOVED IT SO MUCH OH MY GOODNESS! I finished it and seriously wanted to watch it over again right away. It was everything my teenage-John Hughes-obsessed-self would have been obsessed with and I am so friggin happy with it!!!
OMG CHRISTINE I JUS FINISHED THE MOVIE LAST NIGHT AND IT WAS SOOO GOOOD I WAS REALLY HAPPY AND SATISFIED 😭❤️❤️❤️ LOVED IT SO MUCH!! AND IM REALLY HAPPY TO SEE YOU MAKING A VID ABOUT IT SO QUICKLY SO WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT KSKFKEKKD AND IM ALSO HOPING FOR A SEQUEL OHMYGOD
LOVED the movie! I managed to finish reading the last 200 pages today and watch the movie! I'm so proud of myself I didn't think I'd be able to do it all today. But I did! And I'm so happy! I think they did a fantastic job with the movie and I'd love to read the next two books!
I just finished watching it... And I loved it so very much!❤️❤️❤️ I'm just as excited as u in this video (srsly, I had to pause the movie, because I couldn't handle the cuteness). The actors did a really good job! Lara Jean is so lovely, so well portrayed. The script was very good. It was not cheesy, the way rom com's usually are. I'm so obsessed with this adaptation and the cast. I've been watching their interviews for the last hour or so - I'm the kinda person who needs to know who the actors are, if I like their job in whatever I'm watching. I really wish we knew each other so we could talk about every single lovely/cute detail of this film, because I don't know anyone who's seen it yet. :/
when he went all the way across town to get the yogurt drinks and lara jean's like, "you must really like yogurt?" hahahaha
I laughed so much!!
lol i loved that part XD
Yes! When her dad dropped her off! It was so funny her retort back after he said "Have fun!" Priceless!
That was hilarious. Chris was awesome. I'm assuming her character was a lot more fleshed out in the book.
THEY DID IT RIGHT CHRISTINE. THEY DID IT RIGHT.
The movie is everything! I’m feeling very very VERY single! And also I need a Peter Kavinsky in my life 🙃 Also Kitty was everything and I’m slightly sad that we didn’t get Jamie the dog 💔
That’s what I was thinking when watching! I was waiting for Jamie all throughout the Christmas scene
polandbananasBOOKS yes haha! Kitty got him for Christmas in the first book 🙊
Irish Reader i know i was waiting for Jaime to pop up when they were unwrapping their gifts
MimiEy Potter same!! That is one of the first times Peter is really jealous of Josh! 😭😭
Omg yes they should of had that!!!
There was an article with the author (I think on Vulture) where she said they had issues with the rights to having the spiderman costume and she said that she was glad it was left out. Essentially, that if they couldn't have it that way she'd rather not have the scene at all.
Yep I agree kinda dissapointed with some scenes because it's not the same in the book, but I like the movie though.
OMG YESS I WANTED IT SO BAD BUT IT DIDNT HAPPENED
The Chemistry is SOOOOO GOOD IN THIS FILM
I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face the entire time I watched the movie. I had my doubts about the actor who was casted to play Peter before the movie was released and ended up LOVING HIM SO MUCH! Like I just adored the movie so much and I really hope we get a sequel! As you talked about the movie I was grinning the whole time just thinking about certain parts of the movie that you were mentioning. I’m so glad you made a video so we could all gush with you xD
I was the same for the most part but then slowly my eyes started to well up and then by the end I was just crying. I’m such a sucker for romance ugh
Ayah C SAME!!! I was watching it with my sister and she asked me why I was smiling so much
Samantha T lol same I totally cried at the end too xD the family moments are what always get me
Ayah C For me it’s “the look” that gets me.
Samantha T yes Ik exactly what you mean!!! “The look” gets me every time too :) and I love that movie sm Heath Ledger always warms my heart
The only complaint I have was that there was not enough baking 😂
Manoek van Vlimmeren YES
tHE chOCoLaTE chiP coOKiES!!
ca. lee isn’t that like in the third book though were she is obsessed with perfecting her recipe
‘Mark ruffallo and someone who’s more handsome than mark ruffallo’!!😂😂 perfect description. you are 100% right that’s exactly what he’s like.
YESSSSSS OMG THAT TOO. READ MY LONG ASS COMMENT HIGHER UP. I RANTED UP THERE LOL
Dahlia Bagley SAMEEEEEE I was sooo disappointed with the jeep
I ASKED MYSELF THE SAME THING. its so important.
That’s literally when I fell in love with Peter K is when he picked up only Kitty to take to school I’m like omg Lara Jean don’t blow this lol
Yaz! I have an older brother who would drive me every time and reading the book made me realize how special it must be for someone who don't get to have brother/s to do it for them and Peter K being such a big bro to Kitty was really sweet!
I liked the movie but am SO UPSET about how many things were left out
I feel so bad... I haven't read the book yet, and I've just finished the movie. I have committed reader sin. I'm definitely going to read the book, though!
I'm so sorry.
I'm the same. I just couldn't wait to watch it and I have no way to read the book right now
Leah Maslin I don't have access to the book right now either. The movie just looked so good.
A Fangirl same
It's fine...but it's a trilogy and it's so goooood👍💌💌💌💌💌
the movie was legit perfection, words cannot describe!
I know, they missed the halloween scene too and the whole lighthearted witty vibe
I was sad when October passed in the movie b/cs I knew that meant we wouldn't get that part
I agree they kept out important parts like how Lara jean loves to bake. I didn't like the movie at all it didn't feel like my book one bit.
I'M SO GLAD YOU ALREADY HAVE THIS VIDEO UP I've been wanting to talk abt the movie with other ppl who loves the books but I don't know anyone else that's read them askfjaks
The chemistry btwn Lana Condor and Noah Centineo was PERFECT. 😊💗
THE CHEMISTRY REALLY WAS PERFECT
I completely agree with you!! Most of the scenes were slightly different from the book which I wasn’t expecting but i overall really loved it!!
polandbananasBOOKS YESS tbh I wasn't sure abt the casting at first bc they're diff from what I imagined but the actors did so wonderful 😭💕💕
Natalie Park Yeah!!! There were a lot of little changes but I'm gonna blame movie time restraints 😂 and same ^_^ I think overall it's a great adaptation!
I agree with the cast of the sisters. It's not even that they aren't korean, Margo just doesn't look like she is a sister of the other two to me🙈
He reminded me of Mark Ruffalo too! I thought I would be the only one. Honestly I didn't think I would like Peter much because he wasn't what I pictured but I loved him! Loved everything. I literally started tearing up halfway through the movie because I was so happy that it was a good adaptation.
I was pretty much screaming the whole time I watched this. It was so good. So perfect.
I loved it but I was mad that they didn’t add the Halloween scene when Lara jean and josh were dressed up and when Lara and Margot where sitting in her room with the spoons
Jenna Ware The scene with the spoons was actually from the second book...but it was expecting too the Halloween scene
It was due to copyright issues they talked about in a interview
Just finished! it was super adorable and cute, i wish they included some of my favorite scenes like her christmas cookie marathon and the little argument between josh and peter about their favorite cookies, and i agree Josh was a much better person in the movie lol and i found he was almost too nice with the love note scene, but i loved it, i thought everyone casted was great and the whole aesthetic was great.
Yes! I missed the christmas cookie bonanza and the whole halloween chapter with lara jean ranting about anime characters, and her & josh's harry potter outfits, and peters spiderman dance haha
Umnia Yes exactly! i wish we had some more of those because i liked the tension between Peter and Josh and the whole love triangle aspect
IKNOW!!
True!
I literally just finished movie was EVERYTHING!!! I loved it!!😊😊
Just finished watching the movie! It was so cute! Loved hearing your thoughts!
I'm back here bc I was watching one of Noah's interviews and he said he would have loved to play Mark Ruffalo on 13 Going on 30 😂😂😂
Omg I saw that interview literally right before I watched this and was just laughing so hard when she made the reference
My favorite movie character was surprisingly Chris, her actress did such a good job!! And peter ofc, I was kinda meh on Noah as Peter until the srunchie scene and then I WAS IN LOVE ❤️❤️
Overall, I liked it but felt like the dialogue was kinda strange at times...
I haven't read the book but even I am lowkey hyped for the movie
THANK YOU, CHRISTINE, FOR EXISTING AND FOR BEING AS ECSTATIC AS I AM WITH THIS BOOK. 💖💖💖 (the part where you're raving about Peter is so me)
Also:
- I already forgot how Kitty looked like in my brain before this movie.
His face might not be so much like Peter's but damn, everything else about him is so Peter!
despite my disappointment at some scenes not being included from the source material and some liberties being taken with characters and plot, the representation in having a lead asian teen girl in a western mainstream rom com outweighed all of that. it made me so happy to see myself reflected in lara jean, and a lot of my asian and half asian friends have said the same. the movie itself is definitely something momentous that will create waves both as an adaption of the book, and as its own entity.
i feel like my expectations were too high on this movie.. am i the only one?
I agree. I was so excited after the trailer and while some scenes were really great, I found myself really bitter throughout the movie. I'm so mad they took out the Halloween scene, the real fight before the hot tub, the LJ/Josh kiss.
I had really high expectations too and I was mad about the black audi and how they didn’t call Margot “gogo” .i was expecting them to have Jamie fox pickle but I guess since it was a movie they had to take stuff out
I always have high expectations and they are hardly ever met
im happy im not alone. your guys opinions is what i relate too because the movie was amazing, but i was just missing the vibes i had when i was reading the trilogy and it breaks my heart to not feel the same about the movie :’)
I HAD VERY HIGH EXPECTATIONS AS WELL. AND IM DISAPPOINTED.
"You drink Kombucha?"
Omg I just finished it and I loved it, they did a wonderful job!
THE ACTORS WERE SOO PERFECT, EVERYTHING WAS SO WELL DONE!
Does somebody know If they are going to make the other? I hope so.
Edit:I think my favorite part was when Peter k. picks them up on the car and I think that my favorite adapted character was Lara Jean
i hope so too!!!!
polandbananasBOOKS guess we’ll have to wait 12 for that in Azkaban... or try to google it
i really loved the movie but I wish they included more from the book but then the movie would probably be like 3 hours long
I would've gladly watched a 3 hour long accurate movie than this lol
Alexandra Salazar Are you disappointed with the movie too? If so that means I'm not alone.
Bessie I am highly disappointed, I mean I’m happy they made the movie but they changed and left out so many important details.
I totally agree w a combi of Mark Ruffalo and Matthew Daddario!😂
3:40 OMG YES CHRISTINE I BEEN SAYING NOAH CENTINEO LOOKS LIKE A YOUNGER MATT DADDARIO TOO!!! He’s handsome af too 😍🔥
I felt like the movie took parts and pieces and made it their own.. not my favorite but I’m still happy it happened and I enjoyed it even thought it’s not that similar to the book.
Same! I'm not super big on how different it is from the book, but it's great that it happened. Maybe I'll watch it again.
Yesss same
Just watched this this morning and I’ve been waiting for someone to post a review!! So excited to gush about this w you.
omggg all the feelings with everything you're saying! never have a really felt the same literal heart clenching effect of contemporary books with their adaptations but honestly, it was like reading the book for the first time all over again!! i also really love how diversely casted the covey girls were, it just shows how diverse asians are and i've never really seen myself represented so well like that before! ahhh i love it SO MUCH DAMN IT
I also loved the scene when Peter was having a pillow fight with Kitty while they were watching 16 candles
Salina Böltner lowkey wanted a scene of them watching fight club too because I love fight club XD
Just finished the movie, I LOVED IT SO MUCH TOO. I NEED A SEQUEL TOO.
I love that you did this video, I literally just re-read the book and right after watched the movie en I think it was PERFECT! I really loved it and I hope the second one gets make 🙌🏻🤞🏻
I loved Kitty💜
And I thought John Ambrose McClaren would be in the movie (so I thought that they would combine the 1st book with the 2nd book), but he just appears in the end...so I really hope they do the sequel!!! And I agree that they made Josh less annoying...I had the same reaction as you when Jenny Han was at homecoming...lol
💌💌💌💌💌
I FORGOT IT CAME OUT TODAY!!! GOTTA WATCH IT ASAP
Loved it!
I felt that! When you start reading the book, you can't stop, I finished the trilogy in less than 9 days. I love you XtineMay! 💖
i LOVED the movie :D can't wait to rewatch!
AHHHHHH IT WAS SO WELL DONE!!! The casting was everything and Kitty was sooo hilarious
CHRISTINE ive been watchinf your videos all day I've missed youuuuuu
Omg I stayed up to watch it at midnight too! Loved it so much! I wish they included the car ride to the sale thing with the donuts.
Literally just finished watching the film and this was the perfect way to relive it. Watching you gushing about it made me feel better about being in my mid-twenties and loving this film. LOL.
i literally just finished watching and then to see you uploaded this video completed my day. it was amazingg
Ok so I finished watching the movie an hour ago. And when I finished it. I was thinking when you would upload a review and you did it. YES
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REACTION!!! so many book lovers didn't like it because it wasn't like the book and they don't understand how it's an adaptation and they can't just copy paste it because it won't work in a film perspective and YOU UNDERSTAND THAT SO THANK YOU I LOVED THE MOVIE TOO
Aghhh i can’t wait for the next one to come out!!! I’m super excited for your book! Aghhhh i always love your makeup (;
The second I finished the movie I was so excited to see your review 💕 Watched it first thing this morning with my mom!
11/10 would watch every night for a year.
am i the only one who didnt like it aaaaaaaHHH
like it was missing so many things from the book??
also they make genevieve sound super petty.
also theyre the song girls not the covey girls :((((((
i reread the book beforehand so maybe thats why i had such high expectations but i really felt so many important things got taken out.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
I really liked it, but if I hadn't read the book I probably would have loved it, I was just a tad bit disappointed they left so many scenes out.
Lol
You’ve just put everything I felt about this movie into words! I couldn’t agree more!
I saw this video in my subscriptions so I went and watched the movie straight away. I loved it and was so blown away by how cute it is and well it’s made one of my new fave romcoms for sure.
Ahhh!!!! Thanks for letting me know Chrstine :) I'm so hyped after watching your video ^^
I literally just finished watching it and I can’t stop smiling. IT JUST MADE MY INSIDES FEEL SO GOOD!!!
In the books I LOVE John ambrose Mc clarens so I hope they make the they two books so I can love him again but of course peter for the win
My favorite scene was when LJ read those notes from Peter and realizes that he has loved her all along and she did receive letters, just not in the way she expected 😍😍😍😍
It was perfect 😍😍😍❤
I don’t get why they chose to not develop those issues and added the whole sex tape thing on this first movie
So i was a little disappointed... that being said the casting was a+, i love how cris and lucas were so present, and some scenes were perfection like the hot tub scene 😍
I just finished the movie
it's different from the book, but so funny😁
i love love looooved it!
ITS FRIDAY!! I forgot!!!!💖 I've been waiting all week for this and I thought it was Thursday today!!!
Everything was so perfect 😭😍 I loved it. I really hope they make the other 2 as well ahh 😍
Christine, could u do a 2018 favorite SHOWS? U did one at the same time last year and i watched half the recs ❤️❤️
IM WATCHING IT TONIGHT AND IM SO EXCITED
I legitimately saw this notification and clicked on Netflix so fast. I felt so elated during the whole movie
I just finished reading the first 2 books the past 2 days and watched the movie last night. THERE NEEDS TO BE A MOVIE SEQUEL ASAP!!!
