G'day guys! In today's video, Terry and I hit the amazing Botany Bay in search of squid, namely calamari. We got stuck into several good bait-sized squid using Yamashita and Shimano squid jigs. The process and techniques used were explained in the video. In general, I prefer an aggressive style whipping as often used in Japanese Egi techniques. Terry likes slow hops and lifts and both techniques can fire on their day.
Early on, my blue fluorescent and rattling Yamashita was effective but with the sun up, despite the cloudy day, the squid were taken on more natural colours and in deeper waters throughout the day.
