Jermaine Dupri On Why He Thinks Mariah Carey Gets A Bad Rap

- Super-producer Jermaine Dupri recently stopped by the HipHollywood offices to discuss a lot of things, including why Mariah Carey gets a bad rap. According to Dupri, Carey is the last of her cloth.
Like Mariah said on Mariahs World, it doesn't matter who's fault it is because she ends up taking all the blame in the end.
He's right. She is the crop of superstars, that are now deceased. Mariah is a legend and yes it was a bad night, but she will rebound.
I wish more people had heard her 2014 album. It was her worst selling album and quite honestly, it was one of her very best albums. There are some great songs on that CD with some killer vocals. The song, "Meteorite", is a great song that teases the listener until the last 25 seconds and then Mariah unleashes some awesome belting! Vintage Mariah voice on that song. "Make It Look Good", also has some stellar vocals. Some of the background belting in that song rival her early '90's vocals. It really is that good.
Let these Lessers know JD! Mariah had her breakdown and people were quick to write her off but when she came back with the Emancipation Of Mimi it was a big middle finger up to all the haters and people who thought she was over. LEGENDS never get written off.
Realest interview about Mariah Carey's career ever. JD is 100% correct. She has never really owned her status as a legend because she is so used to being current & making hits. Whitney and MJ were done making hits, but could still pack a stadium. If she stayed out of the spotlight and performed once or twice a year, people would go crazy to see her. Instead, she chooses to do the concert/tour circuit like Mary J. Blige & Toni Braxton. Still legendary, but she doesn't command the level of respect that someone of her caliber deserves.

Everything that JD said was true. Also, people seems to always be waiting to see MC mess simply because they are all scared of her success (which is Immaculate). She will come back, and she will slay all these haters. Trust and believe.

Its true Jermaine you said it -- this new world has little tolerance or respect for superstars like Mariah. If she thinks everybody will always have her back , or always her best interest at heart, well .NOT ANYMORE!!. she will always just get a rude awakening, each time, from whoever ..... the fact is mariah makes it easy to set her up,cuz she's the diva that stays aloof unaware that her ridicule becomes the social media objective and MC easily steps into it every time.
The thing is Mariah has had a flawless year of live performances in Vegas, SSF Tour and The Becan christmas shows but one performance has everyone talking shit... Ppl seem to have been waiting for a star to fall

Cant write her off. she is already in history as one of the best vocalist of our time. i think what people are so bothered about is visually, she looked like she checked out of performance all together. she didnt even attempt the dance routine with her dancers...she was like sound is effed...my inner ear piece ain't working...eff it. i can imagine she was frustrated and pissed to hell!
JD tells it like it is. Even Mariah Carey herself doesn't know her own league. Can you imagine MJ putting on a show on NYE with that tiny ass stage? No way. MC is a legend. She was just too humble to give those bad producers and microwave milenial audience a taste of her for free and see what their ungrateful asses did: sabotage her act and make it viral. Mariah Carey indeed IS the last really brilliant singer/songwriter with a larger than life career...but I must say Celine Dion is a singer who is still doing it brilliantly too. I wish she would try songwriting too, I think she has lived quite a life and probably has a lot to say too. "Ashes" is a brilliant record. God, I miss Whitney and Michael and Prince and George Michael and so many more.
Celine is from that cloth. Performing since she was a child and doesn't take the small opportunities. Mariah really needs to embrace her worth and legacy at this point.
How sad that people give hate with such incident (fault of the Production) disregarding her Catalogue, her position or what she achieved in the Music industry and all. Mariah is the last of her league if u know what i mean.
There is a huge gap now. Think about Aretha and Mariah... Aretha used to require that a room be a certain temperature to preserve her voice and people did it. Aretha still has it and no one will question the queen (and they better not). If Maria does it, she's a diva because people are grouping her in with younger less talented artists...
