Finally a guitar teacher which lessons are great and which is great at singing to. the most tutorials i used before where high Level fingerstyle things without voices, now i got both to practice perfect
Thanks, great lesson! Perhaps best introduction to any song ever? On 4 way st, "This next one is guaranteed to bring you right down… it's called 'Don't let it bring you down'. It sorta starts off real slow then fizzles out all together."
Great lesson and clearly shown. I like your voice too sounds good with Neils songs. Also sounds great if you tune down a half step lower than you are now to CGCFAC which I believe is how Neil played it at Massey Hall (sounds like it when I play along with the song) Thanks
The correct tuning is CGCFAC. But if you weren't comparing it to the album this sounds fine and is alot simpler to tune than the album version. Great lesson overall, no over complicating.
Your efforts are very much appreciated. This song was a part of my youth and I never could get it to sound right, but your explanation of the Double Drop D filled in the hole. The high E needs to drop to D, got it. Thank you! Great lesson!
DUDE! I have wanted to play this song for a long time. I'm a terrible player but I can chord along. You broke this down for me and I am playing it through an hour later. Thanks for teh lesson!!
Just wanted to let you know ... it was several years ago when I was trying to learn this song that I came across your tutorial and guess what (??) , I saved it , because after all the searches and struggles with other variant tutorials for this great song , yours seemed the best and most accurate in my mind , and I still play it with the chords you showed me except I'll open the 6th string on the 2nd time the C chord is played in the opening part ...
I just happened upon you, enjoying Pretzel Logic and found your site. It's fun to sing with you also, especially on this song; you could hear me perform "When You Dance (I Can Really Love)" and get a taste of what our harmonies would be. Meg Solay
Love the way you taught this very cool song man - the method and nice slow pace allowed me to take it all in. Thanks a million. Beautiful sounding guitar by the way and you have a good tone to your voice.. Peace in.
Fabulous tuition. Thanks so much for your generosity. One I will begin to include with my other Neil Young songs. Any other songs you know that suit Double Drop D cause I love that tuning.
+acoustisongs ....beautiful song called 'Clown' by Ralph McTell...double dropped 'D' tuning. Thank you for your perfect tuition of this Neil Young Gem !
Great tutorial. Do you sometimes cover three string positions using only two fingers? I usually watch people's hands to get the chords and your fingerings were kind of confusing...but the chordings on the screen straightened me out!
Great lesson, teached me to play the song! thanks alot. Only think that at 3:11 the chord 553333 is not right, I think 055430 sounds better. What do you think?
I'd really like trying to sing with a woman sometime. (I might post an ad on Craigslist, come to think of it) I listened to your songs...verrrrrry good.
James Morrison I just noticed something - Neil uses lots of alternative - or at least dropped, tunings over the years. And on non-harmonica tunes the pitch could be way off. But - does ever use a Capo!? I don't think he does, which is pretty remarkable.
It's nice that you teach in such a way that its easy for would-be students to follow, however the intro is a hammer off, not a hammer on in regards to the C chord. Listen to Neil live and see. Good job, though. I loved doing this song for years.
Joe Ginseng I think it’s a McIlroy - made in N.Ireland. I had several but had to sell them :(. The Celtic knot inlays give it away. Beautiful hand made guitars and Dermot McIlroy is a nice guy as well. :)

This is an excellent tuto, I know Neil's music for so long but as a guitarist I did not even realized how complicated it was so far! Great job, thanx!
Finally someone who instructs SLOWLY WITH NO PRE CONCEPTIONS. This makes a good teacher. BTW, fantastic song/arrangement.
thanks
Great Video. No long explanations...you just get to it. Love this song and its tuning. Thank you.
Great tutorial. Thank you.
this is awesome... thnx alot... this song changed my life... neil is god...
Your channel is superb. So easy to follow with no BS. Thanks for an excellent resource.

Love it . ! And I don't even play guitar . What a song .
There were giants among us in those days .

best lesson I've found here for this song, I like the presentation a lot. Thanks very much.

Don Bauer Nice! Good song.
Wish Neil had done that song at your tempo! Your speed lets you absorb everything in the song so much better. Guitar sounded great!
Bill Blackford yea i wish everytime neil went on stage hed stop and do a lesson.

thx Dan
@@acoustisongs ... ☆☆☆☆☆ , you're very welcome but it was you who helped me decide so I'm the one who should be saying thanks ... thank you ...
Thanks so much! You always do such quality videos and the notation is very handy.
Why is this video so soothing to watch?
Excellent lesson, beautiful song, thanks
I love your channel! Thanks so very much.
Thank you...there are so many good songs out there...
Great! I've been looking for this with DD-tuning for some time. Very instructive. Thanks a million! Cheers from Bilbo

Tony Cuckson Actually, none that I play. But I'm sure if u google it lots will come up. Thanks for the nice remarks.
+acoustisongs ....beautiful song called 'Clown' by Ralph McTell...double dropped 'D' tuning. Thank you for your perfect tuition of this Neil Young Gem !
AWESOME!
4 Way Street version has got to be Neil's best
thank you. i liked your singing too.
Love your voice :)
Cheryl Gaudet Thanks Cheryl
Nice voice also
What a lovely sounding guitar, what model is it acousticsongs?
Great tutorial. Do you sometimes cover three string positions using only two fingers? I usually watch people's hands to get the chords and your fingerings were kind of confusing...but the chordings on the screen straightened me out!
Ha! Yes, I have big pads on my fingers (genetics?) and use 2 fingers for an A chord, for example. Good catch!
Very good!
Thanks for the lesson!
Great lesson, teached me to play the song! thanks alot. Only think that at 3:11 the chord 553333 is not right, I think 055430 sounds better. What do you think?
good video. thanks for the annotations
I'd really like trying to sing with a woman sometime. (I might post an ad on Craigslist, come to think of it) I listened to your songs...verrrrrry good.
You have a Neil Young voice.
Neil plays it now, (at least since 2004), tuned down 2 full steps and the E strings tuned down 3 whole steps.
James Morrison
I just noticed something - Neil uses lots of alternative - or at least dropped, tunings over the years. And on non-harmonica tunes the pitch could be way off. But - does ever use a Capo!? I don't think he does, which is pretty remarkable.
You know I never thought about it, but I never saw him use a capo either. Hmm?
Everybody uses it, I don't think Neil would be out of it. But let's try to find some proof, whtever
best lesson cheers from oz
Dropped down a whole tone then 1 and 6 dropped to C
I dropped my E and e strings to C and everything else a whole step.
the song is actually performed in double dropped C and was even done in lower tuning at some events
It's nice that you teach in such a way that its easy for would-be students to follow, however the intro is a hammer off, not a hammer on in regards to the C chord. Listen to Neil live and see. Good job, though. I loved doing this song for years.
Cornelius Piphperpoomb if you want to get technical it's called a pull off.
Cornelius Piphperpoomb ligado
HAH!! :D Right you are. (how did I forget that?) Thx for the 'heads-up. Sorry.
Is the 333010 the correct chord?? It doesn't sound right when I play it...maybe it's just me but I wanted to make sure.
great video thank you! not a bad voice either btw sir
Sweet! Am I missing something , cause I don't see the chords on the screen like you mentioned. Thanks...
Jeffrey Herbert They apparently don't show up on mobile devices. Try a PC. Thanks
Cool, thank you, its a great lesson.
I don't see them using Firefox, but I do on Chrome. A Flash compatibility issue, I guess.
Thanks and that's a beautiful sounding guitar...what is it?
Joe Ginseng
I think it’s a McIlroy - made in N.Ireland. I had several but had to sell them :(.
The Celtic knot inlays give it away. Beautiful hand made guitars and Dermot McIlroy is a nice guy as well. :)
i agree - didnt sound right to me & i think 055030 works best.
Fantastic lesson regardless - thank you! :)
what Ovation Model?
best tutorial!
Thank you.
@Jespervisser Maybe even just 055030....still an awesome lesson though.
Except when it goes into the chorus it's a G major and not a G minor
Someone get the phone...😅 Good lesson tho🤘🏻
strumming?
Actually it's a full step down and then drop the low E to C
Serious version…🎸
Great tutorial. Don't you hate it when you record something and the guitar is slightly out of tune? Me too!
055030 or 055430, definitely (3:11)
Can't see the chordings!
Better get that phone
Goodììììììììììì
How come watching this I see no chordings on screen?
Close
The tuning is wrong, tune the guitar down a whole step then tune down the 2 e strings another whole step to C
This!
