    Finally a guitar teacher which lessons are great and which is great at singing to. the most tutorials i used before where high Level fingerstyle things without voices, now i got both to practice perfect

    This is an excellent tuto, I know Neil's music for so long but as a guitarist I did not even realized how complicated it was so far! Great job, thanx!

    Thanks, great lesson! Perhaps best introduction to any song ever? On 4 way st, "This next one is guaranteed to bring you right down… it's called 'Don't let it bring you down'. It sorta starts off real slow then fizzles out all together."

    Great lesson and clearly shown. I like your voice too sounds good with Neils songs. Also sounds great if you tune down a half step lower than you are now to CGCFAC which I believe is how Neil played it at Massey Hall (sounds like it when I play along with the song) Thanks

    The correct tuning is CGCFAC. But if you weren't comparing it to the album this sounds fine and is alot simpler to tune than the album version. Great lesson overall, no over complicating.

    Your efforts are very much appreciated. This song was a part of my youth and I never could get it to sound right, but your explanation of the Double Drop D filled in the hole. The high E needs to drop to D, got it. Thank you! Great lesson!

    Just wanted to let you know ... it was several years ago when I was trying to learn this song that I came across your tutorial and guess what (??) , I saved it , because after all the searches and struggles with other variant tutorials for this great song , yours seemed the best and most accurate in my mind , and I still play it with the chords you showed me except I'll open the 6th string on the 2nd time the C chord is played in the opening part ...

    Great tutorial. Do you sometimes cover three string positions using only two fingers? I usually watch people's hands to get the chords and your fingerings were kind of confusing...but the chordings on the screen straightened me out!

    • @acoustisongs
      @acoustisongs  10 лет назад

      Ha! Yes, I have big pads on my fingers (genetics?) and use 2 fingers for an A chord, for example. Good catch!

  • @jamesmorrison2063

    Neil plays it now, (at least since 2004), tuned down 2 full steps and the E strings tuned down 3 whole steps.

      James Morrison
      I just noticed something - Neil uses lots of alternative - or at least dropped, tunings over the years. And on non-harmonica tunes the pitch could be way off. But - does ever use a Capo!? I don't think he does, which is pretty remarkable.

    • @jamesmorrison2063
      @jamesmorrison2063 6 лет назад

      You know I never thought about it, but I never saw him use a capo either. Hmm?

    It's nice that you teach in such a way that its easy for would-be students to follow, however the intro is a hammer off, not a hammer on in regards to the C chord. Listen to Neil live and see. Good job, though. I loved doing this song for years.

      I think it’s a McIlroy - made in N.Ireland. I had several but had to sell them :(.
