I think he will be a star return man. It is so hard to compete with people who have been doing the same thing for many years. But... the new kick-off is new for everyone. I think he will have a good chance of success.
I think the way the NFL rules have changed over the last several years that nobody will ever have success as a return man.....
*I will root my ass off for him, though*
@@RETRO_BELLThe return game has new rules for this year though. As a Chiefs fan, I’ll be rooting for him too!
@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 I understand we have new rules for the kickoff and he does have wheels (4.4 speed) so maybe, just maybe!!!!!
I'll be rooting for him.
The new kickoff is like returning a rugby kick with legal blockers he knows exactly what he is doing there
Plus no hip drop tackle
We will be rooting for LRZ here in the UK. He played for the Cherry and Whites in English rugby (come on the Glos!), played for the "Red" Dragons in Wales, and is now playing for the Chiefs! He clearly likes red.
Go smash it Louis!
Don't forget the lions!
Very good point @@dajay2k
@mattt1212 indeed my man!
Wish him the best. He's on a good team with a good Coach who knows how to train people with little experience
Man becomes an all pro wr
Lmao.
Kelcie new protege as big and fast and learns from him game changer.
We love lrz here in wales hope he smashes it up in the nfl too 💪
Rees-Zammit is seriously talented. He's the first rugby player with proven high-end international level ability (in attack, especially) to come over to the NFL. This is NOT a normal prospect.
His impact could be huge. I can see him having star ability in the return game, and if he figures it out on offense, he could precipitate a wave of rugby stars coming over to the NFL.
It's not only kick returns. He has the background to handle punt returns from day 1 too.
One underrated move could be as a blocker. I’d imagine he’s physical enough to move a press corner in the run game
Man i hope he makes it through. Very much rooting for him. Still young and is world class, top of the sport, at 22. If not when then now? Get paid LRZ.
Reid is going to draw up special plays for this kid...24 mph....WOW
Good luck Louis⚡️👍🏴
I don't follow NFL, but I was curious to see how LRZ was doing - first thing I see is the Leinster gear... good man!
Lifelong Chiefs fan. Former lock forward. Been awaiting this😊
It will take him a couple of years to refine his route running but having him as a safety net out the backfield will be a great roll for him to succeed
Can we still use the exemption if we trade Toney back?
The fella on the left clearly don’t know where the term Welsh comes from. It’s a Anglo/Germanic name for the Britons of the modern day nation of Wales, located as one of the three nations on the island of Britain. Along with England and Scotland. I still find it amazing how most Americans aren’t aware of Wales, let alone all the major ties both nations have. Upwards of 14 US Presidents had Ancestry from Wales. And three people of Welsh origin played a major role in its very founding.
Yes Welsh ancestry is really common in America, but the welsh generally came as one of the earliest settlers so they aren’t as well known. Many of those people just identify as American. And us Americsns just generally have a pretty poor understanding of other countries
Agreed! They know Tom Jones though haha
Saying you don't get how people from the US know about Wales is like someobe from the US saying they don't know how people from the UK don't know about Vermont
Do you know the origins of the term American? I’m always amazed by people who expect everyone to be an expert on etymology and geography. These are people who are specialized to cover football. They aren’t anthropologists
@@ThompsonBriarbut we know about Vermont in Europe. It's where Bernie comes from
Edit: and Ben&Jerry's
Will be very interesting to see how he goes. Obviously he has a lot to learn and is competing for a spot against players who been playing since they were kids. But in a way I think the Chiefs are getting a bit of a Swiss Army Knife kind of player. I think he could be a kick returner, wide/slot receiver even a gunner on special teams and with him playing on the wing in Rugby he'll even be a half decent punter in an emergency. Good luck to him.
His dad played American football when he was a kid, so he’s grown up with the sport. My guess is he has a lot more knowledge of the game than your average rugby player.
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 interesting point. Thanks!
All rugby players can catch kicks. The "up and under" is a high vertical kick that LRZ would have to catch 5-6 times every games. The hope is the receiver would drop it under pressure of advancing chasers in their 'eye line'. This is one way of advancing. Also upto to 10 long kicks. It would save time to catch it rather than let it bounce. There is a big jeopardy in fumbling in rugby. It results in big territory loses for your side. A player rarely would fumble more than once in a game. If he did he would be ruthlessly targeted. The Irish team were particularly good at this. The "up and under" was called a "Garyowen" a place in Ireland.
Ah yes, the classic Rugby strategy of let your opponent commit a foul instead of just being better than them. Then elect to kick for 3 instead of bothering to get a try.
We r not throwing money away. We are setting the standard.
Biggest difference with LRZ, although he wasn't the best on the international rugby stage, he has however performed at a far greater level than any of his rugby predecessors that transferred to the NFL.
trick play nasty bro!! 30 yard lateral toss !! WTF lmao
Shame you kept calling Rees Irish, he’s Welsh and played rugby for Wales. He has great potential at KC, hope he makes the full roster.
They never once referred to him as Irish! What video were you watching?
I think you misinterpreted what they were talking about. They were speaking about Rees-Zammit and the other lads in the IPP from our side of the water... namely the Irish GAA lads who are looking likely to also get contracts. That's where the Irish bit came in.
Believe me, guys. This guy is lightning.
Mallindar as a punter could be interesting
🍒⚪ Good luck LRZ! Gloucester! Gloucester!
Haven’t a clue what they are talking about even though I have watched Rees Zammett many times before.
Hes going to have to make it as an elite gunner, punt blocker and KR2 across from Toney.
His speed and athleticism will make him an option in the Kick Return game as well as a gunner since in rugby all of them would tackle ball carriers
He. Could be Jerek. It is a business.
Go, LRZ. Quick learner can tackle. Good luck
He won't be tackling anyone.
Rugby players could perfectly fit in NFL
Why you say that?
@@JayTeejee547 because it happens and because they have good fundamentals and technique
@@javimarulu4247they still need to work on their explosiveness, most only have straight line speed
@@fortniteburger8747 he have to learn the pace of the game and learn how to walk the field. Yes he need work but he have very good stuff. All rugby players have great fundamentals
@@javimarulu4247 rugby players make great lineman, their knowledge of leverage and body weight are insane, skilled positions are harder to adapt to since they’re so different from rugby. A couple of years might make a difference though
Trying to be like the eagles with mailata. Not a bad idea
Definitely more eyes on the chiefs in the uk. Chiefs jersey sales in Wales will by high. Shrewd move …
no they wont, its a sport that we dont give a shit about, and rugby isnt big on celeberity culture, remember gavin henson. just because a union player has gone to NFL doesnt mean union fans will follow, its a totally different game that is boring and slow compared to union
@@jukeseyable Union is the slowest form of rugby. It's incredibly slow. It's so slow that teams actively kick the ball away rather than bother to try and advance it themselves. And then to make the game slower, they kick the ball out of bounds, waste their time with scrums, and even have to be reminded by the official to use the ball during the final 10 minutes of the match.
When the main strategy of the game is to wait for your opponents to commit a foul in their own half, then kick for 3 points, you have an excitement problem.
@@loganleroy8622you have no idea what you are on about, you are either obnoxious or full of crap. 77 tries were scored across the 15 matches of the 6 nations, thats 385 points without the conversions. penalties amounted to 52 in total, so 156 points less than half of what the tries contributed, so how the F were the games decided by pens. talk about stop start, at least union doesnt take a break after ever single tackle, or get chopped up into 4 quarters. now unless you have some facts to back up you comments, jog on!
If zammit makes it in NFL you'll have more rugby boys having a go Louis zammit has also a cannon for a boot
Think New Jerrick McKinnon ohhh weee
If Zammit can Block like McKinnon, this is a Steal
Ok, I can’t argue with that. We are ass right now. 🏴
Tough one to hear that for such a great rugby nation. So many financial issues on a club level coupled with big profile retirements. You take Lions out of any 6N team it’s gonna sting.
@@stabcitySB it’s tough. We have got to build from the ground up. It’s gonna take a while before we see success again.
As much as I appreciate these experts combine stats breakdown, that doesn't apply to athletes with the low sense of gravity, vertical shifts and absolute raw power that LRZ has. Let me put it this way, if he is alone against a marker with 30 yards to go, he simply ain't being stopped, I promise you that. He would carry them over to the touchdown zone on the floor dragging on his leg. The same way CMC bullies through, this guy will be like Adrian Peterson - if Punt return Devin Hester. Trust me on that, been saying it since January.
When it comes to Kicking for goals you guys are making the mistake that the kick has to be the way you are used to seeing kicks made.
I'm not up on NFL rules and things could have changed but isn't the drop goal still a thing?
Believe it or not, Drop kicks are easier to get up because the foot impacts the ball higher from the ground..
I remember a South African that played on my club back in the late 80s working on kicking footballs. It took him a couple tries to learn the bounce but he was consistent from 40-60 yards.
It is near impossible to drop kick an American Football because the ends are pointier. It doesn't bounce predictably back at you like a rugby ball does. Also I'm fairly certain that they've removed the drop kick option.
They should use him like the Sausage
Not Irish. He’s Welch
I don’t think it will work even as a rugby fan and a life long chiefs fan. Simple things like ball protection, avoiding hits, route running, playbooks etc. I would be shocked if he makes the roster. I played highschool football and I can tell you it takes a certain level of understanding the game. Even dumb guys like gronk have a very high football IQ
That's why he's signed a 3 year contract, to learn this stuff. It's not like Americans are the only people who can learn the game.
He don't need no stinkin pads or helmet.
Jesus we just love throwing $ away huh
Yeah, Chiefs always throwing money away. You’ll never win a SB like that.
@@richardgale1287 buddy we’ve won plenty. I wrote that when I was high as balls and didn’t realize it’s for special teams unit the new rule. Relax
Wales will still batter USA in rugby
From a South African........don't be silly
@@markwillies7666not a very smart South African

They only know whales
I know Wales exists. Gotta love that Wrexham Lager.
@@loganleroy8622 Top man
Meh. Australian rules football players never pan out in skill position roles in the NFL. Never. Only kickers and O-lineman
yeah but australian rules is SO different to american football comparatively, rugby and american football are much more similar as they both directly come from the same sport, rugby football.
He didn't play Aussie Rules so why is that relevant?
I think you mean Rugby League. AFL players only play NFL as kickers.
@@danzigvssartre oh my bad
Do we Americans not know the difference between Ireland and Wales???🤦♂️
Louis is Welsh. The kickers in the IPP are Irish. Whats the issue?
There's an English kicker there too in IPP - Harry Mallinder
Why do you say "we Americans" when you're obviously not American 😂.
I believe he'll be a very good kick returner and a very effective deebo type player. they will use him in thar way no doubt .. coming to Andy Reid was the best decision this guy could of made.. if he doesn't make it with KC he won't make it with any other team.
