I think he will be a star return man. It is so hard to compete with people who have been doing the same thing for many years. But... the new kick-off is new for everyone. I think he will have a good chance of success.

Rees-Zammit is seriously talented. He's the first rugby player with proven high-end international level ability (in attack, especially) to come over to the NFL. This is NOT a normal prospect.
His impact could be huge. I can see him having star ability in the return game, and if he figures it out on offense, he could precipitate a wave of rugby stars coming over to the NFL.

The fella on the left clearly don’t know where the term Welsh comes from. It’s a Anglo/Germanic name for the Britons of the modern day nation of Wales, located as one of the three nations on the island of Britain. Along with England and Scotland. I still find it amazing how most Americans aren’t aware of Wales, let alone all the major ties both nations have. Upwards of 14 US Presidents had Ancestry from Wales. And three people of Welsh origin played a major role in its very founding.

    • @drewkaton6785

Yes Welsh ancestry is really common in America, but the welsh generally came as one of the earliest settlers so they aren’t as well known. Many of those people just identify as American. And us Americsns just generally have a pretty poor understanding of other countries

Will be very interesting to see how he goes. Obviously he has a lot to learn and is competing for a spot against players who been playing since they were kids. But in a way I think the Chiefs are getting a bit of a Swiss Army Knife kind of player. I think he could be a kick returner, wide/slot receiver even a gunner on special teams and with him playing on the wing in Rugby he'll even be a half decent punter in an emergency. Good luck to him.

All rugby players can catch kicks. The "up and under" is a high vertical kick that LRZ would have to catch 5-6 times every games. The hope is the receiver would drop it under pressure of advancing chasers in their 'eye line'. This is one way of advancing. Also upto to 10 long kicks. It would save time to catch it rather than let it bounce. There is a big jeopardy in fumbling in rugby. It results in big territory loses for your side. A player rarely would fumble more than once in a game. If he did he would be ruthlessly targeted. The Irish team were particularly good at this. The "up and under" was called a "Garyowen" a place in Ireland.

@@jukeseyable Union is the slowest form of rugby. It's incredibly slow. It's so slow that teams actively kick the ball away rather than bother to try and advance it themselves. And then to make the game slower, they kick the ball out of bounds, waste their time with scrums, and even have to be reminded by the official to use the ball during the final 10 minutes of the match.

As much as I appreciate these experts combine stats breakdown, that doesn't apply to athletes with the low sense of gravity, vertical shifts and absolute raw power that LRZ has. Let me put it this way, if he is alone against a marker with 30 yards to go, he simply ain't being stopped, I promise you that. He would carry them over to the touchdown zone on the floor dragging on his leg. The same way CMC bullies through, this guy will be like Adrian Peterson - if Punt return Devin Hester. Trust me on that, been saying it since January.

When it comes to Kicking for goals you guys are making the mistake that the kick has to be the way you are used to seeing kicks made.
I'm not up on NFL rules and things could have changed but isn't the drop goal still a thing?
Believe it or not, Drop kicks are easier to get up because the foot impacts the ball higher from the ground..
I remember a South African that played on my club back in the late 80s working on kicking footballs. It took him a couple tries to learn the bounce but he was consistent from 40-60 yards.

    • @loganleroy8622
