My 3 month old niece past away two years ago... This song was sung at her funeral. Today was her birthday and I found your excellent version to spend time praying for her this morning. Thank you for hitting sweet notes!
I'm sorry for you family's loss. Even after two years something like that is still pretty emotional. The thing about posting music is that you never know how it might touch, move, or inspire someone and I'm really glad if this gave you some time for prayer and reflection. Comments like yours make me feel like I might be doing something worthwhile way beyond just demonstrating an instrument. Thanks!
Awesome craftsmanship, and great playing, hats off to you, I play blues harmonica, and would love to sit down and play along with you, I'm in sc ,subbed, full watch x2
Thanks Dragoon. These are re-cycled tuners. A friend of mine went to the auction after Danny Gatton passed away and got a box of old tuners that Danny had taken off guitars. No bushings but they work pretty well. Rectangular with hemi overtones indeed!
Have you ever considered making a handgun case violin? small cases like handgun cases already have a divet in the side, you just gotta remove the handle.
Uh Oh...I gotta have one of these...do you you have any links or sources for building one? That was awesome brudder...awesome...thanks for uploading it
aye i made a song for my mom for mothersday used this video and johnny cashs vocals then played bass and drums over it among other post production things figured you might enjoy checking it out
God's work, thank you.
Beautifully natural and humble

I love this old music, and it sounds exactly right when played on your instruments. Thank you, sir, for posting these songs.
Thanks Blue Tick. I love these old songs too!
i've been playing the violin for quite a while now and never heard nothing as sincere and beautifully simple as this recording. great job man
Sir you are blessed and using your God given talents to bless others...
I love your videos and think they're so beautiful, unusual, and an enormous pleasure to watch.

Thanks for your comments larz hillbot. I almost never play factory made instruments anymore!
What a treat! Enjoyed it so much! One of my favorite old songs!
I really love the sound of this one in particular.
Love the ambient sounds of the forest. Very nice setting.
Thanks vroish! That's the West Virginia woods all around me. Every now and then an airplane interrupts, but usually it's pretty much like this.
morbanjo so u live in West Virginia? I've been meaning to ask where u live
Yup Jasen. Up in the Potomac Highlands region near the MD border.
So beautiful. What a nice fiddle!
Glad it made you smile, jtricer. Most folks laugh when I start fiddlin".
Love it
Most people don't know good music when they hear it.
got the peepers singing along with ya! Very nice instrument and rendition. cheers!
Sounds good! I have my grandfather's fiddle. The box is beat up and I'm considering making it usable again. Nice Old-Time fiddling. Jeff
I gotta say that the tone of these cigar box fiddles sound better with these old timey songs than... i'd say real violins, but yours is just as real.
Really cool :-) inspiring ;-)
Best Wishes Pete from England
Lovely sound! Great song! Great playing! Great singing!
Awesome job brother.... :)
You sing a bit like Doc Watson. I like it!
That fiddle sounds great, nice job !

After watching your video's i tried my hand at making a tin can banj'r.not as E Z AS YOU MAKE IT LOOK.YOUR STUFF IS GREAT !!!!! MORBANJO
+THE OLD CROW Thanks! They do take a bit of work but the materials are cheap so making mistakes as you go isn't too painful.

Thank you!
Great job! Love it.
Thanks Aaron!

Dude, you are amazing. You can make most anything can't you? I hope you're performing somewhere. If I were a record exec, I would sign you.
Have you ever considered making a handgun case violin? small cases like handgun cases already have a divet in the side, you just gotta remove the handle.

Sounds superb

you're so great!
+Sarah S. Thanks! I always feel like I'm struggling when I try to sing and fiddle at the same time. I appreciate your kind words!
Uh Oh...I gotta have one of these...do you you have any links or sources for building one? That was awesome brudder...awesome...thanks for uploading it
Nice job!
Thanks Deadbuck73!
Great!
This might be a crazy question but are you a christian.
blessed
Awesome
Any chance I could convince you to do "The Old Rugged Cross"?
P. S. I know how hard it is to play fiddle and sing at once.
Awesome, What material is your box?
Gracias Jorge, this box is plywood with a paper cover. I used the bottom for the sound board since it didn't have paper on it.
Sounded like a million dollar violin.
This sonds better than my fiddle.
Thanks! I learned to play on a cheap Chinese fiddle and this sounds better than it. Of course I'm a bit prejudiced in favor of homemade stuff!
This is beutiful sir. Did you come up with this version yourself?
N'importe de qui Thank you! Yes, my own version of the fiddle and of the song.
morbanjo any possibility you wrote down the music for it?
N'importe de qui Sorry, nothing written down. I do this song regularly in jam groups and it's a little different every time.
what type of cigar box are you using, it looks of a good size for my own fiddle.
This box is about 10" x 6" and is one of the larger boxes I've been able to find.
+morbanjo thank you very much, this helps alot
Good!
+Luis Carlos Aznar Gracias Luis!
RIP Charlie Daniels
