I dont see why everyone is complaining about this song not being heavy enough. I personally think its a beautiful cover. Crown The Empire isnt required to only do heavy stuff. I love their heavy songs, but i also love their softer songs like this one. They are amazing either both ways
I'm actually really thrilled that they show their vocal talent in this song. From someone who has really followed Crown the Empire from the beginning, this is a great step they took and a wonderful cover. It is full of expression and I love that it ties in with their other work. Great song.
I feel like people are being too harsh. Just because it doesn't sound like they're old music, or it isn't 'energetic' enough doesn't mean it isn't good. I actually really appreciate their cover of this song and how musical it is. Just because Dave isn't screaming, doesn't mean the song is already "bad". I thoroughly enjoy this, and I think it is one of the better covers on the album. (Everyone is entitles to their own opinions of course).
LOL at all the close minded people who can't appreciate music unless it has screaming, you're just as bad as the people who claim "screaming isn't music" not my favourite to be honest, could use a few little tweaks, but it's not bad at all. Definitely better than anything I could have done, or most of you.
I agree completely, it's awesome, but I actually prefer the Ellie Goulding version. This just doesn't hold the same energy, then again I don't think it's trying to accomplish that but that's just my favourite part of the song in general.
Producing music doesn't mean I can't critique it. Obviously CTE has mad talent, but this cover lacks any real energy. Compare this song to any other song they have ever done, fuck even Lead Me Out of the Dark has more energy then this. Its not a bad song, its just disapointing in comparison to the masterpieces of Machines, The Fallout etc
Leah there is a difference between simply preferring and bashing anything that's not just growls and breakdowns ! I prefer unclean vocals but u also like cleans and don't talk down on bands that try it.
I love that they kept it clean. The title is Punk goes Pop. They did a cover with their voices, but without changing the entire flow and sound of the song. Dave's cleans are incredible and paired with Andy just equals a great, soft, song.
Literally my thoughts.. Like at the drop they could have gone straight heavy into it but nope. I had such high hopes for this song but they fucked up.... :/
I'm an avid metalcore fan and listener, and I don't know about anyone else out there that is like that... but I always have certain times where I'd just like to calm down and listen to softer music, but still feel emotional like most metalcore does. And this.... this does that, I mean.... this was amazing in my opinion.
why is virtually no one talking about how beautiful this cover is, the vocals are so euphonious and the instrumentals are ethereal. oh my dear sweet _lord_.
I respect all of your opinions, but keep in mind that not ALL of their songs have screaming. If that's something you enjoy, then good for you, keep an open mind that they're not aiming towards the heavy side of things every single time.
The clean vocals by dave are just beautiful, the first time I heard it I didn't give it a chance because they're wasn't screaming, then I payed more attention the the uniqueness of this cover and its just so damm good.
I LOVE THIS. I'm a huge fan of their heavy stuff but their lighter stuff is so good. They're evolving beyond the typical hardcore bands that only last so long and growing as musicians. Another great track from CTE. Great job fellas
What blows my mind is how many trends I've seen come and go in my lifetime.. but bashing people's opinions and trolling on RUclips just don't seem to want to fade out.
I love music created by cte, and bands a like but god damn the sub-culture and fans of this type of music are beyond ridiculous. You all act like children, complaining about rifts, tempo, and all that. Like really? If you don't like one song compared to the other then DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT SONG. Iove CTE with all my passion they're great but I haven't found their recent songs great but still none the less I like the music.
I hope all of you realize the Crown The Empire page on facebook said how they purposely didn't scream because they wanted to show off Andy and Dave's clean vocals. Just enjoy the damn music for what it is, instead of complaining about how it isn't as heavy as their old stuff.
Why are so many people hating on such a talented band? I've followed them since the start. I saw them live before they were signed. And they've always sounded great. This cover sounds smooth. They've done slow songs before. And the newest album was heavier in parts and more musically inclined with the guitar solos and drums. People need to chill
To everyone complaining, you're not a true fan. Part of being a fan is watching the band change and appreciating all of their sounds. Not just their "hardcore" music.
Dave and Andy's vocals are so amazing, gave me goosebumps. I loved it. I mean you can't do much with this song but they killed it. They even said they didn't have much of a song choice. Regardless, they did a great job. Can't wait to see them live
Everyone is complaining because this song isn't heavy but I think this cover is beautiful and pure perfect Crown the Empire never fails to disappoint me love your music💕💕💕💕
Okay, Crown the Empire is my favorite band. I love all their sound, no matter what. I'll always follow. And no, it's not because I'm not open-minded. I'm just stubborn and I love my band. I love both soft sound and heaviness, and CTE has the perfect mixture in a lot of their songs.
The funniest thing is that all I can see is people complaining about people complaining that it's not a heavy cover, but I'm yet to see the comments of people complaining that it's not heavy...
Can we just have ONE artist that doesnt get hate for doesnt making music the way the usually do. So much hate because there isnt screaming and it isnt heavy. NOT EVERY SONG HAS TO BE HEAVY. If you like heavy music, go listen to heavy music and not the lighter music and stop fucking complaining
For those of you that are complaining about this cover. Yes, it does not have screaming. But not every song from a metal band needs screaming in order to be good. I love that this song is different from what they normally do. It's a change. And sometimes it's nice to have a little bit of variety in a band. The cover is great. Sure, there are a few things that could have been done differently that would have made it better, but for the most part... it's a really good song. If you all would get your heads out of the gutters and stop disliking every song that doesn't have the tiniest bit of screaming, you would be able to see how well CTE did with this.
Going through the comments had me like "Okay, but what about the actual song?" Everyone seems to be either complaining about it not being "heavy" enough (it would sound ridiculous if it was, tbh) or talking about how close-minded are the previous. BUT WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE SONG? Well, I think it's good. Literally the first thing I've ever heard from this band and I think it's great. I think I might be checking out some of their original stuff (which is apparently "heavier" which is what I deeply enjoy) and if it's even half as good as this is, Crown the Empire is my new obsession. Anyway, great cover!
Ana T. I think it's an amazing song :) I enjoy the original, but this one blew me away. I really love how well Dave's voice compliments Andy's and how well they harmonize.
I love this song! I felt very uplifting, especially after having a bad day and it seems like everything is going wrong, this song seems to help you get back up on your feet again
contrary to majority of the comments I actually really love this you have to keep in mind that these are covers and that this song is originally electronic so it would sound weird if it was really heavy but I do think that there were spots that could have been a lot heavier that weren't
I like it. I was kinda disappointed at first because I was expecting some epic screams or something. But after a bit I really liked it. Andy and Dave have amazing voices and they go so well together its insane. This is a pretty good cover in my opinion, lets try to remember that Crown the Empire can pull off more than just screaming.
Haven't listened to many of the bands on this album but this cover, knew you were trouble, problem are my favorite. Especially this one with its smooth vocals
I especially love the last few choruses towards the end where they say we're gonna let it burn yea we're gonna let it burn because they definitely changed it to something more sentimental rather as how Ellie made it more fierce with repeating burn burn burn several times
I was singing along, and i stopped at parts surprised that it went the way it did. I like it though, sometimes its nice to be surprised and I think it's nice that they made it their own unique sound for it. It's kind of mellow. Love it
I don't even care if it doesn't sound exactly like the Crown the Empire , I love Andy's voice and the band itself and I will always support them. It's kind of the same thing with sleeping with sirens as well.
As a person who's been an Ellie Goulding fan for years, I must say that this rock cover of "Burn" was absolutely fucking amazing. I had never heard of Crown the Empire before, but they did one hell of a job. :)
Why the hell are you all complaining?!!??! Okay yeah it's punk goes pop but this is really well sung, sometimes it's nice just to hear these bands sing with no screaming or shouting. Can you not hear how good their voices are. I love this cover, quite frankly if you are a fan you should like everything they do, keep up the good work CTE!
I think its actually quite cool of them that they're trying different sounds like it's not all the same so when they bring out a new song you have no idea what to expect, idk i think it's a lot better than just sticking with heavy music (even though they're heavy music is amazing) and if to the people who are like hating on this, it's just one song get over it...
i can't believe anyone would hate on this band or this song because "it isn't heavy enough". seriously maybe Crown The Empire wants to try something new. i loved them since day one and i love every album they have made. this song just shows that they care about their fans enough to try something new
A great take on a great song in my opinion. Everyone who says Crown the Empire sucks now, but I feel like those same people don't understand that when a band changes they change because their influences change. If a band doesn't allow its music to grow and evolve then wed have another band that sounds the same on every CD. Que Nickelback. Great job CTE!
Most people need to understand that its not all about screaming or heavy instrument style..i love Crown The Empire and i don't care whether or not their music is heavy. This is different from their usual music yes, but its good that artists try different styles from their usual one. I respect everyone's opinion on here, but there's no need to comment hate on it. Its a COVER, not a written song by them, but overall i freaking love this cover.
This is nice! I expected a heavier version to be fair but that one's still amazing so it doesn't matter whether it's heavy or not! Good job, CTE! Nice one!
Im actually glad they abstained from screams in this song. Although i was expecting some mind-blowing uncleans, part of me thinks its more beautiful and meaningful this way. I like breakdowns and uncleans as much as the next guy, but the emotional factor the cleans produce in this song speaks. As for the rest of the album, i couldnt say; i havent heard it yet. But i think all this criticism need to stop.
On a happy note I really enjoyed this cover and all the music they make. Huge CTE fan. I like a lot of the punk goes pop covers especially the unique ones!
its a perfect song for the new years with the firecrackers and everyone raising their lighters up in the sky waving it from side to side along with our bodies. This puts me to a whole new level of chill. This would also sound so fucking good live. I'm too in love with this song to find someone to love. This is definitely one of the highlights of the album
Okay, I just want to state my opinion: Honestly, I think this cover and the new album are great, even though we all have our own opinions. I, personally, don't see anything wrong with a band that has screaming in their songs, and are considered as "heavy" also decide to make a softer song with no screaming like Millennia and Lead Me Out Of The Dark. If they have the right vocals for it, then go for it, you know? I really enjoyed the new album mainly because of the variety in all the songs, I found it really unique. I don't think CTE is losing their touch all because they aren't creating all their songs to be heavy, I think they're creating their own personal flare. I've really just started to listen to CTE only 7-9 months ago, but truly, they are my favorite band out there, and if you can't accept change in a bands style, then you can't really be a deeply devoted fan. I hope no one takes this into offense, because I didn't mean for it to be taken that way. If you want to share your side I'd be glad to hear it. :) xp
I really think this could have been a headbanger to rival Payphone if it was heavier, but it's still a great song the way it is. The vocalist for CtE is very talented, and I was delighted to find that they got chosen for this song
Seriously you all are going to hate on such an amazing band because you didn't like a cover they did of a song by an artist that's not even in their genre? Crown The Empire is a fantastic band and I'm sorry to say, but some of you need to be a little bit more open minded. I know I'm going to get hate for this, but CTE doesn't deserve the comments that they're getting on this cover.
This is a QUALITY cover here. I'm in love with this.
+Paige Simons that´s so true!
Same
And i'm in love with u stranger
I dont see why everyone is complaining about this song not being heavy enough. I personally think its a beautiful cover. Crown The Empire isnt required to only do heavy stuff. I love their heavy songs, but i also love their softer songs like this one. They are amazing either both ways
I find it funny how on every pop goes punk album people complain that it isn't heavy enough. Please tell me when punk became metal or post hardcore?
Exactly! A round of applause for the man that actually reads.
I'm actually really thrilled that they show their vocal talent in this song. From someone who has really followed Crown the Empire from the beginning, this is a great step they took and a wonderful cover. It is full of expression and I love that it ties in with their other work. Great song.
Dave's clean vocals with Andy's is absolutely beautiful😍😍
Lily Pad I can you
Just recently fell in love with Punk Goes Pop... sounds so good, glad it's not too heavy
I feel like people are being too harsh.
Just because it doesn't sound like they're old music, or it isn't 'energetic' enough doesn't mean it isn't good.
I actually really appreciate their cover of this song and how musical it is.

Compare this song to any other song they have ever done, fuck even Lead Me Out of the Dark has more energy then this. Its not a bad song, its just disapointing in comparison to the masterpieces of Machines, The Fallout etc
thank you, this dude needs to write a novel
It definitely doesn't mean that they're close-minded, do you even know what that means? They prefer unclean vocals, that's an opinion.
0:00 -Oh i know this, the sweet part, that's nice.
0:35 -Andy! well this is getting better...
0:55 -Oh here we go...
1:02 THE HEAVY BREAKDOWN
1:05 :(
sorry to say, but in the beginning from 0:00-0:35 is David singing :P
ItzCodeRed That's why he put 0:35, -Andy
ItzCodeRed Yep but at 0:35 it's Andy ;)
ItzCodeRed Yes obviously but i love andy's voice, he puts so much passion in every song, Dave is meh...
HOLY SHIT, dave has fucking incredible cleans for a screamer.
This band is a gift from god ... and I'm not religious.
I feel ha bro
why is virtually no one talking about how beautiful this cover is, the vocals are so euphonious and the instrumentals are ethereal. oh my dear sweet _lord_.
O-O Why is Dave not screaming!? Who thought this cover was going to be heavier then this?
Yeah, I'm a little dissapointed also. Is that even Andy singing in the beginning? It doesn't sound like him
Nick Luciano It's Dave in the beginning.
No shat, they have so much potential, let Andy sing and Dave scream. Hell, Andy can even scream, I just wanna hear some screaming, fuck.
I respect all of your opinions, but keep in mind that not ALL of their songs have screaming. If that's something you enjoy, then good for you, keep an open mind that they're not aiming towards the heavy side of things every single time.
Yeah I figured it was gonna be a bit heavier than this, but it's still good.
See, this is why I love Crown the Empire. Their heavy music is just as good as their softer music.
It's nice to hear a softer song from a metal band every now and again. Nice change of pace.
Great job fellas
wow. the entire "punk goes pop" thing is so good, from first album to this one, I love it all. Oath.
I love that Dave has been singing more. He has such a good voice.
What blows my mind is how many trends I've seen come and go in my lifetime.. but bashing people's opinions and trolling on RUclips just don't seem to want to fade out.
never will!
'With all my passion'... Since when has passion been finite? o.o
Aniimefaan My passion.
Honestly the whole metal fandom is fucking petty, elitist and easily one the most toxic crowds one can be apart of...
Meda Gaming Yeah exactly!
"Rifts" You don't even know what a riff is obviously so of course you have no clue what the arguments are about.
I hope all of you realize the Crown The Empire page on facebook said how they purposely didn't scream because they wanted to show off Andy and Dave's clean vocals. Just enjoy the damn music for what it is, instead of complaining about how it isn't as heavy as their old stuff.
I like how clean the song was kept, really shows CTE talent with a multitude of sound ranges
I'm so glad we get to hear David sing, he truly has such an amazing voice
I think anything from this band is amazing. I'm completely obsessed. I love the music, lyrics, and vocals. It all works 100%. Just PERFECT.
I absolutely love this cover, I don't care if it's not heavy. This is beautiful!

The cover I was waiting.the most for........Crown The Empire, You always impress!!!
Dave and Andy's vocals are so amazing, gave me goosebumps. I loved it. I mean you can't do much with this song but they killed it. They even said they didn't have much of a song choice. Regardless, they did a great job. Can't wait to see them live
This shows that the artist has true talent and is well rounded
I appreciate this whole album because it shows these bands/ artists can do ANYTHING! Now THAT is someone I can listen to. Much love!
love this. every single part, they made this song beautiful
I love both soft sound and heaviness, and CTE has the perfect mixture in a lot of their songs.
i swear im loving all this

Crown the Empire never fails to amaze me.
I love this
holy shit david can sing and andy!
Coming from the heavens.
yeah
This is a perfect example on how varied and talented Crown the Empire actually are they're my favourite band for a reason and this is why!
For those of you that are complaining about this cover. Yes, it does not have screaming. But not every song from a metal band needs screaming in order to be good. This just takes their musical talent to a new level. They're experiencing new things for the fans.
This is perfect. Best PGP cover they made
Going through the comments had me like "Okay, but what about the actual song?" Everyone seems to be either complaining about it not being "heavy" enough (it would sound ridiculous if it was, tbh) or talking about how close-minded are the previous.
BUT WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE SONG?

contrary to majority of the comments I actually really love this you have to keep in mind that these are covers and that this song is originally electronic so it would sound weird if it was really heavy but I do think that there were spots that could have been a lot heavier that weren't
I love Ellie and Crown the Empire so this cover basically made my life.
I absolutely adore this cover, to be honest it's great that they're doing something different!
I literally had goosebumps
This cover is amazing
So many bands have done covers of this song. I'm glad they changed it up otherwise it woulda just been a cover you've heard dozens of times before
I like it. I was kinda disappointed at first because I was expecting some epic screams or something. But after a bit I really liked it. Andy and Dave have amazing voices and they go so well together its insane. This is a pretty good cover in my opinion, lets try to remember that Crown the Empire can pull off more than just screaming.
Im in love with this. So stoked for the music video tomorrow.
Haven't listened to many of the bands on this album but this cover, knew you were trouble, problem are my favorite. Especially this one with its smooth vocals
Goregibsongaming brought me here. Couldn't thank him more.
Coming from a person with a very diverse music taste, I love this band. And I genuinely like this cover.
I especially love the last few choruses towards the end where they say we're gonna let it burn yea we're gonna let it burn because they definitely changed it to something more sentimental rather as how Ellie made it more fierce with repeating burn burn burn several times

Hi
I love the direction they went in with this cover, it's different but works amazingly!
I actually really like this. The pitch isn't off like it was in their payphone cover. Well done CTE.
this is by far the best song on Punk Goes Pop 6
This cover is amazing . even if it doesn't sound like recent covers they have done in the past. Its still sounds great ! Good job guys !!!!!
This is nice! I expected a heavier version to be fair but that one's still amazing so it doesn't matter whether it's heavy or not! Good job, CTE! Nice one!
I feel that they gave this cover more emotion I love it.
This is the one I was the most excited for and it doesn't disappoint. Really gorgeous.
I love Ellie Goulding and Crown the Empire, so I enjoyed this very much!
Heard this album at Hot Topic today, and I love it!
I love hearing dave sing more in this song!! Perfection!!
I love how Dave's singing in this, too.
this is called PUNK goes pop not SCREAMO goes pop... so sometimes it will not have screams... but who cares it is still a freaking awesome cover :P
If you listen to the album in full it actually makes for a nice break
Okay, I just want to state my opinion:
Honestly, I think this cover and the new album are great, even though we all have our own opinions. I, personally, don't see anything wrong with a band that has screaming in their songs, and are considered as "heavy" also decide to make a softer song with no screaming like Millennia and Lead Me Out Of The Dark. This just shows that CTE is very diverse and they can make more than one sound.
I love this song and they way they covered it, You can defiantly tell who is singing and they both have fantastic voices
Wow, was stoked for this and it blows!
This is absolutely beautiful!
By far the best cover song on this album!
Omg way more amazing than I expected! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Can we just appreciate 2persons who usually screams a lot, singing with such beautiful voices now
in love with this cover
I really think this could have been a headbanger to rival Payphone if it was heavier, but it's still a great song the way it is. The vocalist for CtE is very talented, and I was delighted to find that they got chosen for this song
This is so different than what I expected, but I love it.
I LOVE this cover omg
They made it for the intention of no screaming to be in it. This is actually beautiful.
*-* esto me hace volver a amar a crown the empire
Seriously you all are going to hate on such an amazing band because you didn't like a cover they did of a song by an artist that's not even in their genre? Crown The Empire is a fantastic band and I'm sorry to say, but some of you need to be a little bit more open minded. I know I'm going to get hate for this, but CTE doesn't deserve the comments that they're getting on this cover.
I don't know why there's so much hate on this song. I love it so much, it gives me chills every time I listen to it. This song is fucking perfect.
One of the best covers on the album
