This is totally true! I've learned sooo much listening music and reading its lyrics. Pronunciation, context, usual expression and of course, I love music from 80's and 90's like never before. A couple of things that I recommend you MUST HAVE on your computer is your favorite music player with "Minilyrics". A software that downloads sincronized lyric of every song, this helped me so much that I can write this to you people. Of course reading ANYTHING in English is always a good thing. As a girl who came from Vietnam and been in American in 4 years, this actually work for me. Since my age at 14 ,i came to american with 0 english. I been listening to music and watching the tv show. I don't have vietnamese accent like other student who move to US. There is alot of my friend asking me how can I speak that well but i'm not. It's just i don't have vietnamese accent.However, grammar is still a biggest barrel to me. One additional thing, i'm really lazy. I never read book or study more about english, just listening to music and watch english tv show with engsub.
This remind me when I'm trying to sing "little girl" from Julian Casablancas, I always reed the lyrics at the same time I'm trying to sing, it is dificult, but I think it helps a lot, thanks for this video.
I watched 40 TV series, 40 documentaries and movies(didnt keep track of it) in 1.5 years of time. It did improve by vocabulary and listening skills but not speaking skills.

Hello, teacher. When I was about ten years old I began listening American music. The only thing I wanted to hear was music, I was not interested in its meaning. Then, two or three years later I started to study your language, nowadays I am 56 and I still doing both listening to music and learning English, what I'm trying to say is that I like English because of music.
