- This is the final video in my Coast to Coast series!
It has been an incredible adventure!
I'd highly recommend... it is possible to camp the whole thing, or BnB or mix it up as I did...
Total milage was around 200 a little over the 192 they guide book says, but still so worth doing, incredible scenery and people along the way.
I hope you've enjoyed watching!
I am currently walking from 1,200 miles from John O'Groats to Lands End and posting the journey on Instagram if you'd like to follow along find me @samrculley!
Any questions drop a comment and thanks again for watching !
Watching back through some of your older videos - love these of you on longer journeys. Keep up the good work, mate!
We did the C2C as a group of four older ladies May 2008. Bringing back memories watching your videos. My fav. acc. was Brompton on Swale bunkhouse. Pasta in sauce, tinned fruit & evaporated milk with a bottle of wine!! All from the shop at the end of the drive. Luxury!!!😊 ALB
Great stuff!
Thanks alot matey!
The Peace and Quiet of Keld always amazes me considering its the Crossroads of both the Pennine Way and the Coast to Coast. I knew the area fairly well as I have previousely done the Pennine Way heading North two years ago and North to South the previouse year. Little did I know I would return to Keld next year when I did the East to West crossing of the C2C. No Honesty Boxes when I did either the PW or the C2C. Keld to Richmond to top up on food and drinks then onward under the A1 to stop at the Churchyard at Brompton on Swale to see the Graveyard which contains the remains of someone who lived to be 167. Then onward to Ingoldby Cross where I camped in the Pub carpark. My next section took me from Ingoldby Cross to the Red Lion in the middle of no where, but it was busy when I went for a drink that night. Red Lion to Gromont to spend an easy day watching the trains at Gromont Station before the steep climb out of Gromont. Gromont to Robins Hoods Bay for my final days hike and that was such a steep climb out from Gromont Station. I spent my last lunchtime at the Waterfall site in the Woods before repacking my bergen and continueing on to RHB. So ended my first Coast to Coast. I return the following year to do the same journey in reverse order East to West. Since then I have also done smaller day hikes round the Norfolk Coast/Essex Coast line from Hunstanton to Ipswich mainly camping on the Beaches and photographing the Seals and their pups. Now Retired and spend most of my days on YT watching others do Hikes I did in the past to counter the boredom and also to counter the fact I am now struggling the walk, but I guess I only have myself to blame for that after all the HIking I have done, TWO Pennine Ways, South to North followed the following year by a North to South, TWO Coast to Coasts, West to East followed by East to West, John Ogroats to Lands End followed the following year by a South to North and FINALLY a COMPLETE Coastal Walk round round the UK Mainland, milage not recorded but at a guess, quite a few thousand miles. Retired September 2023. So although I can no longer get out on the Moors and Mountains I relive my Hikes though the eyes and videos of others. Thank YOU for adding to my collections of Hiked I have completed. Tony in Essex.
Just found your site Sam , exactly what I’ve been been looking for , recently retired always enjoyed the outdoors , know I know where to find some amazing walks, I have the time now so my family and myself will be out and about , I live in Uttoxeter the Peak District is on our doorstep , lots of new routes to explore , so may see you out and about , Thanks again 👍😁
My wife and I finished the C2C two weeks ago. We did it in 13 days of hiking. The weather was perfect and the hike was very rewarding. Enjoyed re-living the route with your videos now that we are back in the States. I used the same Katadyn Befree filter - excellent product. Cheers!
That's amazing well done, it's such a fantastic route isn't it! Yes I have found that filter to be brilliant to and nice to carry / lightweight etc! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, really appreciate it!
Great adventure Sam really looking forward to following your footsteps this year . Let's hope I get the weather you had 😉 atb daz
Fantastic 👏
Thanks alot ! Really appreciate it 🙏
Oh, exciting.. just found your channel. Gonna watch your vid now :)
Thankssss let me know what you think 😊
Awesome effort! Thanks for sharing your journey. I only hope when I try I get passed day 3!
Thanks for watching! You'll smash it don't worry, it's an epic journey!
Excellent. Well done. I've watched a few of the coast to coast vids on RUclips and most seem to avoid the high ground at lake district. So fair play. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks alot for watching and commenting 👍👊
Great series of films Sam, I am returning for my second crossing next year so am currently doing the binge watch of several other peoples films, even though I recorded it myself the first time around. Always like to see films by others in case they come up with other route ideas to plan in to my own hike this time. Looks like you got pretty decent weather throughout!
Absolutely gorgeous and beautiful. You make enjoyable company watching your videos and natures beauty in your peaceful serene country. That does not exist in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. I envy you Sam.More of your most relaxing videos please. It is a tonic to the mind. Mine especially.
Really enjoyed the videos, thanks. Made me laugh that round Ladybower on the good paths it was full boots whilst on the C2C it looked like trainers/trail shoes. Edale, Ladybower etc was my old stomping ground as I come from Sheffield originally. I do the C2C in Sept with an organised group. Days walking as little as 9.5m and as far as 19.5m depending on the conditions. 14 day total with hotel stays every night and luggage transfers included. Nervous and excited so watching a pile of experience videos. Wish me luck - at 58 not sure how the knees will hold up?? Now lucky enough to live in Whitehaven so the start of C2C and up to Black Sail is very familiar.
Amazing scenery my friend, you always find the most beautiful places for hike 😍👍best regards Up'n'Down-Traveling

Well done Sam. 👏 Great video.
What’s your favourite hike to date Sam? Love your videos
I stayed in Keld Lodge. Fantastic food.
I’ve watched at least 10 people C2C on RUclips and at leat one day of rain (usually North Yorkshire moors) but am I right in assuming you got great weather nearly the whole way? Windy on ingleby cross I noticed
Yesss mate got super lucky! I did it during the little heatwave we had 😂 it was a 6ltr of water a day job... amazing experience, have you done it ?
@@Samrculley 6 litres! Did you carry a water purifier? No not done it…yet. Been building up to it for couple of years. Ive studied the Henry Stedman guide book ready! I Got a 5 month old so doing dad role at the mo. I should aim for next year and save 2 weeks annual leave.
Your accent I noticed is local to me…I’m guessing Nottingham…Mansfield way?
I’m in Grantham.
Great video and walk mate 👍
@@andybanjo7530 yeah I have a katadyn be free filter and just top up at pubs and campsites I pass etc! I'm from Derby matey so not far! Definitely get it done dude you'll enjoy that if you get chance too 👍
@@Samrculley katadyn. Ok 👍 Woujd love to pick your brains at some point on gear, recommendations etc. Quicker to learn from someone else’s experience/mistakes haha. Cheers again
@@andybanjo7530 yes mate definitely ! After I've finished JOGLE I'm going to do a video of all the kit... pretty much the same stuff I took on the coast to coast but actually slightly less
Hi there, great vid of your C2C. Me and my wife are doing it this week. We are setting off from Middlesbrough Saturday morning and train over to St Bees then starting the walk on Sunday morning. We both have 70ltr rucksacks and are taking a Berghaus cairgorm 3 and a MSR trailshot purifier. Our bags are quite heavy mines around 15kg and my wifes around 13kg. Hopefully we get some weather like you had also not sure to take a light pair of trainers to wear for the flat and road walking or if my boots will be okay for it all. Did you need a map and compass and did you get lost anytime? Cheers
Hi mate, I had the coast to coast guide book and OS maps on my phone... which personally I think is enough!
Shoes wise I wore trail runners for the whole thing, but I guess it depends what your feet are used to mate and weather! I hope the sun shines on you 👊 happy trails mate
