    Yes, most any 6x9 aftermarket brand will work
    Yes, the stock speakers had more "boomy" bass
    Yes, the JBL speakers had more clear punchy bass
    Yes, the aftermarkets will have higher treble that you can dial down
    Yes, you still need a subwoofer if you require huge bass
    Yes, you need the 6x9 plastic adapters
    No, you don't need the wire connector harness if you want to splice/weld
    No, I don't work for Toyota or JBL.
    Yes, Buckethead is inspirational.

    I used Dynamat around the speaker opening, inside the door frame, foam behing the 6x9, foam sealant at the base of the 6x9s, and foam ring around the front of the speaker for better sound and no rattles.

    Thanks, very helpful. I replaced my dash speakers with 6.5 two way Infinity reference. I’ll do the same with 6x9’s two ways now that I’ve seen your video. Just running stock amp.

    For my 13 Camry XLE I bought a set of JBL Stadium 962M for doors and rear deck and for the dashboard JBL Club 34F to replace my nice Kenwood set 😁 let’s see…

    I had jbl and kicker and for the stock head unit I like the kickers 4ohm better than my 2ohm

    Probably better to hand tighten the speaker screws unless you are aware of how easy it is to strip a screw out with a drill

    I replaced mine with infinity speakers all around. Add 12 inch sub sounds good but next couple weeks I’m just waiting for the stuff to arrive I’m doing stereo upgrade to kenwood

      Did you install 12” in the doors ?

    • @Shade_Tree_Mechanic
      @Shade_Tree_Mechanic Год назад +1

      @@aronp713That would be way too big for the doors. You could get a "stowaway" sub to put under the passenger though seat if you're going for a clean look, less muffled bass (vs trunk) and no room taken away in the trunk area though.

    Bet those speakers would really pop with a amp.

    Nice video…wanted to know if I can install JBL - GX Series 12" Single-Voice-Coil 4-Ohm Subwoofer in the doors instead of 6X9?

      I don’t think you understand how big that sub. You need a box for it and put it in the trunk.

    • @aronp713
      @aronp713 Год назад

      @@topshelfkush9834 right I normally thought 12” were woofers for the trunk…I asked this systems guy if I could install in the front & somehow he said he could without having to alter the door etc. , I don’t much about these things 🙌 I’m still learning

    Can you tell that the front speaker are different from the rear by the sound quality and bass if you just replace the two front door speakers ? And if so does it sound off ?

    • @dickieradd
      @dickieradd  2 года назад +2

      The replacement front speakers have a crystal clear better difference in quality and treble. The bass is decent, but overall it sounds scooped. The original rears have almost 0 treble or clarity, but great mids and shockingly decent low-mid bass that I miss from the aftermarkets, so by keeping it a 50/50 mix I think you get every frequency, and can use the stock radio to fade front or rear depending on the song.

    • @wtDrake

      Were the low frequencies improved at all with the new speakers? I realize this didn't include a sub, but I figure upgrading speakers first is a better start than just a sub.

      @@geo780 These JBL speakers are absolutely perfect. Of course the very low bass frequenciew are still missing and can only be replicated by a subwoofer, but that's a lot of trunk space and weight.

    Your real problem is that your choice of music sucks. Put some vintage jazz on.
