Do your research in Kenya we speak mother tongue at home but when we start schooling we learn English and Swahili.

But honestly Ugandan English is deeply accented in Luganda language. I fact I find Uganda English not so fluent to say .

But in kenya from the first president we got punishment if we spoke vanacular in school ,in class inglish break time swahili.i one day sent away from school cos freetime i spoke a word in kikuyu it was in the 80s.swahili was to unite kenyans and inglish was to undedrstand the world .sciences ,physics and mathematics how do you do it in your language ?any way thanks to our leaders after indipennce.

I have no idea how he arrived at this conclusion. Just do a google search on literacy levels. Just last year is when TZ started teaching in English in schools since independence. This guy must do a thorough research first before spewing untruths. Advise him to do just a simple research in Google before posting such sensitive issues. Any sediments must be backed up with evidence.

i swear am a ugandan thats been to both of these countries but my oooooh my!!!…..of course my swahili is the worst and am not proud of it by along mile but hell Noooo….. Kenyans speak English a certain type of way …… fluent but they kind of like have their own grammar…. Tanzanians, most of them can hardly hear or say a word back
Zambian 🇿🇲 🇿🇲 🇿🇲 accents is cool ,there's 74 tribes in Zambia and all use same accents .
I should visit Zambia some days.

My friend, you confuse the idea of Ugandans finding it difficult to speak Swahili and Ugandas despising Swahili... Swahili is a Bantu language. Many word expressions are found In both languages in both Swahili languages and other languages...East Africa, Central and Southern Africa. Getting back to your question...Swahili was used in Kenya and Tanzania by the colonialists to rule over natives....unlike today Uganda by then had rich tribes. Unlike the Kenyans and Tanzanians, Swahili in Uganda was spoken by colonial forces, the Askaris...they were hated by Ugandans...secondly, Swahili was spoken in slum areas inhabited by Kenyans, Tanzanian, Congolese and Somalis. Swahili in Uganda was seen as something inferior...Thirdly, there has been different governments led armed forces; all of them use Swahili to torture Ugandans...Fourthly, when Tanzania attacked Uganda; what language do you think the invaders spoke, Swahili!. Good answer. In 1979 Nyerere sent soldiers especially from Ujaama villages who stole, raped women, looted, pillaged, destroyed Ugandans properties...they all spoke Swahili. Sometimes it is better to first find out the reason why Swahili is not spoken in Uganda; than saying it is difficult for them to speak. It is a language which can be learnt by any Ugandan, but because of history and torture significances that is why Ugandans do not use it...I have seen Ugandans in Tanzania speak perfect Swahili, but when they go back to Uganda they never speak it....people might think them as hoodlums,thieves, and slum dwellers and anything nasty...You said you are both Nilotic and Bantu.. I think the luhya in you can easily get to Swahili than Luo in you...that is an observation.
