I thought this case was perfect, until I watch this video and see you pointed out about the psu getting almost no air, like why would they do that, whyyyy
They've made the mesh a smaller size that is a mix of great airflow while small enough to catch the dust on the front. I use a cooler master case with the same format and it works really well.
Disagree with a lot of ppl, I believe this refresh looks very stunning, beautiful, and unique, especially the white version. No more ugly and useless dust filter on top. When it comes to the front, the fine mesh does an okay job imitating a dedicated dust filter, according to my observation from phanteks p500. Keep in mind that dedicated dust filters aren’t a perfect protection anyway, still plenty of dust gets through. This case is way better looking than the previous h5 iteration with a toilet bowl inside
@@jordanash it's weird, but doesn't seem like a huge deal tbh. One plus is that there is no need to awkwardly pull out the dust filter from behind and clean it. The bigger negative for me is that it's probably a bit awkward to pick up and move the PC since you can't easily slide fingers under, but I couldn't be wrong, I'd need to try the case in person
PSUs facing down have been a standard for years, not at least giving the *option* is a big oversight. If they did they that, then they could have a side or front access filter, then you wouldn't need to move it anyway.
that's my favorite thing about recent NZXT cases lol better airflow + the dust accumulates on the exterior of the case itself which makes cleaning a lot more convenient as opposed to removing panels and pulling out the separate dust filters beneath them (FWIW both Lian Li and Phanteks have been shifting towards this method as well even before NZXT did with H6, H7, and now H5).
They *might* if there's enough feedback about it. They added more warranty for the single frame fans so it's possible. Will confirm with a pinned comment if they change anything.
i know you guys dont like the psu situation, but i have this case...the psu will sit off the bottom of the case with about half an inch to an inch of clearance....I have a 1200 watt psu and i power rtx 3090ti and i7-14700k.....No issues...and the mesh are the sides of the bottom will allow fro enough airflow to enter the psu.
It's clear NZXT wants you to put it fan-side up, I wouldn't like to put it fan-side down with half an inch of space. You might be alright with doing that yourself, but please don't advise others to do something that's clearly not intended.
@@jordanash True, it suppose to fan side up for a reason. What we can think of, NZXT can think of too and yet they still decide to has the fan-side up. They must do lots of testing before decide.
Great and thorough video, thanks. Funny that everyone is ignoring the amazing performance to focus on the power supply intake. Would've been nice if you could've tested with the bottom 240 frame as well - IDK if it's worth the extra $50.
You're welcome. To be fair I think it's because they don't even give the *option* for regular PSU mounting, if it was there people wouldn't mind. I plan to use this in a build where I will test it with the 240 frame fan, as I mentioned I use the same test setup for all cases to make it fair. I also didn't have the F240 when I filmed this anyway.
How is the build quality? I had the original h5 flow and the steel was very thin. I could literally lean on the case and bend the whole frame. I love the size/look of this case, so hopefully they upped the build quality on this iteration.
thanks for the reply! Do you think the Corsair 4000d has better build quality? I’m just looking for a smaller sized mid tower with good build quality and airflow.. any recommendations…?
Hi my frined, I'm stuck between Corsair 4000D Air Flow, Thermal Take Ceres 330 TG, Be Quit 500DX and this case ... Overall which one would you recommend? And is there much difference between the cooling of these cases?
I'm glad I found this video before updating from the H5 Flow with the "Toilet Bowl" to the one without it.... I can't believe they removed the PSU Down option! why?! :S I'm keeping my toilet bowl for now :D xD
H510 - best design ever that NZXT could come up with (the black and white case) H5 FLOW - falls down in design but airflow is okayish Refresh - idk the airflow looks weird it kills the minimalistic purpose of the NZXT brand As for the airflow idk, i would personally get the one that you like more via design.
H510 is a hot box. Single fan or 120 AIO on top isn't good. Solid front panel makes for bad airflow. I'm glad they went for mesh. I like this new design of H5 over the last couple. H7 Flow 2022 is what I have and like it better than the new one as that has too much dead space below the gpu. If the bottom fans were on like a 2" riser it would take some of that space away and look better imo.
@jordanash in short yes, but dusting will be a little problem. Further more it depends. For who have the original this upgade is not nessecary For who want to buy it for the first time, get it.
Glad you think so. This middle ground of a finer grill catches dust well and is easy to clean. I think I mentioned in the video but I daily drive a case with the same style and it catches a lot and is easy to get off.
@@jordanash That PSU intake is not filtered and the PSU fan will be fighting against the bottom intake fans. Also, why are those bottom fan cutouts bigger than they need to be? WTF was NZXT thinking?
Oh NZXT, I thought you meant the build I did. The front catches a lot of dust now, so that shouldn't be an issue, but the spacing and not being about to mount it fan down is very odd indeed.
The design is rather different. The spacing in the gaps stops dust without needing filters, the Cooler Master case I use daily has it and it does a great job.
I thought this case was perfect, until I watch this video and see you pointed out about the psu getting almost no air, like why would they do that, whyyyy
Yeah, not sure about that. At least give the option, right?
PSU has to be with the fan side up? Wow, that's a major L. I was considering this case but not anymore. Thanks for your great review!
Yeah bit weird isn't it. You're welcome, thanks for watching
Ordered. I wanted the H7 but smaller. Not 1 to 1 but its alot of empty space in the H7... atleast how I would build it.
Nice! Enjoy ☺
I don't think there is a dust filter on the front of the case, wouldn't this prevent too much dust?
They've made the mesh a smaller size that is a mix of great airflow while small enough to catch the dust on the front. I use a cooler master case with the same format and it works really well.

Yeah

It looks good, but there's some things that just make no sense, like not allowing people to put the PSU face down.

a shame they got rid of the dust filters on both h5 and h7. couldve at least made it a separate purchase for 10 bucks or so
the mesh has smaller holes which is the filter now you don't want small holes and a filter that would make worse airflow
that's my favorite thing about recent NZXT cases lol

They *might* if there's enough feedback about it. They added more warranty for the single frame fans so it's possible. Will confirm with a pinned comment if they change anything.
Is it me or is h500/h510 better built?
If I can remember it might be a bit more solid, but the compatibility for radiators was bad, not to mention terrible airflow.
is that stock F360 fans good ?
Yeah, you should have seen when I covered the temps

NZXT did it right again after the brilliant H6 Flow. I still prefer the original. Why did NZXT give up with the 140 front fans?
Probably to follow the H7 with it's F360 single frame fan. They have a 280 but I'm guessing it's to keep the same amount of fans in the front.
@@jordanash Makes sense. Thanks.

140s better
Depends on the fan, I've had horrible 140s before

You could probably bend the same if you took all the panels off. It's decent, but nothing groundbreaking.

4000d is great, I'd say they're about on par build quality wise, to be fair
Corsair 4000d or h5 airflow 2024?
Depends what you're putting in it.

I would recommend going with Thermaltake ceres 330 or if you can wait. The phanteks G400a is coming out soon and will be better all of those options.

I'd wait for reviews, it's not guaranteed that the Phanteks will be better.

Yeah the H510 sucked for airflow, I would say compatability too but it came out when CPUs weren't so hot
not really a fan, it looks weird, am not sure why they named it h5
Would you say the proportions with this style look better on the H7?
@@jordanash I care about beauty and i'd pick h7 over this
Fair play! I'd go the same I think, I like the space of the H7, especially in the roof for a 360mm AIO.
I disagree h7 has way too much empty space which looks boring this in a white case would look better
Fair enough, whatever floats your goat
Glad I got the 2023 version because I think this refresh is a downgrade. That PSU housing is a terrible design.
Yep, no idea why they thought this would be a good idea. At least give the option for bottom mounted.
