    Some really good tips in there mate especially how to lift & release the rails with care. And I'd like to offer you a tip of mine - with a full-of-fuel rail elevated, I pull the lowest injector 1st, that way there's only a one-off outpouring to manage. Cheers bud!

    Hello M Tech Guy,
    Another great video and strongly believe you did yourself a favor by replacing the fuel injectors. In my opinion, more critical then rod bearings (if monitored and treated nice). One failed injector will ruin the block and at least one rod, resulting in a HUGE repair bill.
    I also truly appreciate your methodical speed and attention to detail to protect all the plastics and other bits that are getting brittle with age. I am a complete OCD Engineer when working on my M5 and that is not a bad thing. I see the same attention and care in your videos....I would allow you to wrench on my M5, aka Silk, and typically NOBODY will get near her with a tool in hand!
    Cheers,
    Mr .P

    Injectors now replaced with the help of this vid👍. Also replaced the 2 x breather valves whilst I was under the plenums ( Bosch P/N 0 280 142 427) not a known issue but they where £9 each so just done it as a preventive maintenance. (Would make a good vid next time you are under the plenums!) I have also replaced all 4 Vanos solenoids as the current price on them wasn’t to bad and would have kicked myself if I had left it till they started failing and the price had gone back up again! They where all the black bodied original ones which I’ll keep as spares! Also completed belts and pulleys whilst I had the radiator out for the solenoids. 👍

      Awesome! Glad you found the video of some use. Sounds like you got a few items taken care of there 👍 Not done my fuel tank breather valves so far, good idea for a video! I have two black bodied VANOS solenoids I want to change out too, where did you buy yours from?

    Massive thank you. Know I asked about you doing a film of this job a while ago. For some reason I imagined it being a nightmare. But as with everything Bmw, it’s just time (usually takes longer to get to the stuff you want to change than actually changing it does, haha) and patience.
    Your calm and detailed presentation. Is very reassuring.
    Injectors now on order. Thanks.
    As always, thank you for what you do for us BMW owners back here in the UK.
    Cheers. Bren. 👍

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 года назад

      Cheers Bren. Yes, they are buried under the intake plenums like everything else on these cars!
      Good luck getting yours changed out, it’s a good job to get done on these cars 👍

    • @brenkeenan8892
      @brenkeenan8892 2 года назад

      Quick update. Injectors done today. No dramas as I knew exactly what to expect thanks to your guidance. 👍
      However, much as it seems obvious, I’d just remind people to fully check that the “O” ring actually comes out with the injector when it’s pulled from the rail. 7 out of 10 of mine came out leaving the O ring in situ!! Easy enough to pop out with a small pick. But if you didn’t notice it, and used enough force pushing the new injector in, it would be possible to get it to clip in place, whilst there are now 2 O rings in. This would obviously cause a leak. So well worth just double checking as you take each one out, rather than have to pull it all apart again afterwards.
      But job is easy enough, just very time consuming. But did give me a great deal of satisfaction being able to clean everything whilst it was all apart. OCD now satisfied, haha.
      Another job ticked off the list.
      Thanks again
      Cheers.
      Bren.

    these are great vids. My 2 owner '08 with 95k miles is soon going to be getting the whole list of prev maint which I've learned from all of your vids! So thank you!! question - how do you feel about using injector cleaners on the E60 M5? like Seafoam or MMO etc.

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  Год назад +1

      It’s worth using a decent injection cleaner like STP as a preventative measure every 6 months to a year (I wouldn’t use sea foam) But at 95k miles and 15 years old I would get the injectors replaced, and use a cleaner moving forwards

    To add a bit of info, it isn't wear on the fuel injectors, but an inadequate fuel filter allowing debris to hold the injector open. You should be able to have the injectors sonic cleaned and regularly change the fuel filter. Then again, new injectors are still relatively cheap insurance.

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 года назад

      Yes, they normally get blocked and stuck open. The injectors are 17 years old and new ones where more or less the same price as refurb

      I believe this will be the way forward. The s65 engine injectors with a new ECM tune should bridge the gap. The s65 shares the same cylinder volume and has a higher rpm limit. I'm still trying to confirm relative placement of the injectors to the valves in the two engines and the overall mass airflow rate (pretty sure it's the same on a cylinder to cylinder basis), but I don't see why this can't be the way to tackle the problem.
