Awesome video! Very insightful. Esp the last section about scrub radius. Choosing tires and wheels for the Type R is definitely more involved than other cars, esp because of the complex suspension/chassis geometry. In addition to the things you mentioned, Honda has also used their steering knuckle thing to counter torque steer.
I might get 19" wheels instead of 18", only because I do not plan to lower the car at all. I believe that 19s will fill the wheelwell better :) Do you recommend a particular offset range for 19" wheels? Is there an online calculator which could help?
Or, how about a tire with higher sidewalls? Like, maybe a 255/40 on 18" wheels? 265/40 might cause rubbing.

I was thinking Michelin Pilot Sport 4S as well. However, I was thinking 265/40ZR18 instead of 265/35ZR18, just so that the overall diameter of the wheel/tire setup is closer to the OEM diameter, which should limit any speedometer misreading. I was wondering why you and everyone else seems to go with the 265/35ZR18 instead of the 265/40ZR18. Is it because of the lowering springs? If you didn't lower the vehicle, would you have gone with 265/40ZR18?

    • @TORQToolbox

The new wheels look more nicer than the stock wheels.
The new wheels make the type R stand out 👍🏼.

I have the exact same considerations you mention. I had eibach springs installed and I want to put volk 18x9.5 te37's. I'm hoping they come in a 45 offset. This video is ironic because you've described exactly what I'll be doing to my CTR. Except I'll be going with Army Trix valvetronic. But you got my spec perfectly. Thanks for your impressions and info. Great video.
