I live near Atlanta, Ga and my first trip to Cali was in '84. I had never seen cars like that! My 5th grade self seriously thought they were going to transform into robots! These two guys were true poets...and still are!
1992 was the first year of the golden age of West Coast rap. The Chronic came out that year along with The Predator by Ice Cube, Dead Serious by Das FX, Guerrillas In The Mist by Da Lench Mob. 1993 hit, Doggy Style hit the charts, 19 Naughty III by Naighty By Nature, 187 He Wrote by Spice 1, Til Death Do Us Part by Geto Boys, and it was batting 1000 on the west coast (not to say the aforementioned were all West Coast rappers).
Something Serious by Big Mike is a lost diamond! That shit HIT!
This is why 90’s hiphop is the bomb!
This was the time. There wouldn't be many rappers if it wasn't for Dre. Period. These are the goats. Used to cruise the strip at Myrtle Beach to this. Best times. Great react!
80s and 90s rap and hip hop was the best. My little brother and I used to blast these records on an old JVC ghettoblaster in the basement.
This song came out when I was 17 and I had my first car. I still know every word. BEST!
The LBC! That's my hometown. Long Beach! Snoop went to high school across town from me and was just a bit older, but I still ran into him at a couple of parties. Back then, though, he was Calvin. "Snoop" came a bit later. And VIP Records is around the corner from my friend's house.
This album came out when I was in high school. Love watching people rediscovering this bit this does make me feel old lol
Dr. Dre was rapping since the late 1980s. He was one of the founding members of NWA.
Btw, even in the early 1990s when this song came out, those cars were still OLD SCHOOL. Those are old1950s cars that they convert into lowriders.
Dre and 2Pac-California Love.
"I need a doctor " with Eminem. Pure gold.
This entire album was flawless. We rolled HARD to this. Still do!
One of my favorite music videos of all time especially for little man turning his head when the fine chick walks by. Classic.
Hey dude, love the videos brother! It's so crazy to see you young kids hear this for the first time. It literally blows my mind that people don't know who these guys are, but that's just another day for me realizing that I'm OLD, lol, but these guys were iconic and it's very cool to see your videos. Love your cool attitude man! You will do great!
I'm really enjoying these videos. I'm from that era, so seeing a younger generation (re)discover these gems has been a great joy. 😄😊
This video came barreling into the TVs of every suburban kid in America when it debuted and every kid went out and grabbed The Chronic album. Dre Day was the 2nd video from the album, a dis track toward his former group mate Eazy E and others. The Chronic was a huge success followed by Snoop’s Doggystyle album
I was in high school when this came out and I loved this song and some other snoop and dre songs. And this used to come on MTV back when MTV still played music.
Also, back then Snoop Dogg was still known as Snoop Doggy Dogg. ;)
