Planespotting at Berlin TXL: On 26/05/2017 Delta Airlines re-opened the New York (JFK) to Berlin Tegel (TXL) Airport route and was greeted with a WATER SALUTE upon landing of the Boeing 767-300ER (N169DN). This was the "INAUGURAL FLIGHT" after Delta had terminated the route in 2011! So - welcome back Delta Airlines! Fantastic footage! The approach shot was very nice, as the winglets make the B763 look better in my opinion. Congrats on catching the inaugural! Does Berlin have other routes to the USA? :)

yes we actually had 3 but Tempelhof was closed - so now we have Tegel (very central) and just outside of Berlin we have SXF (the same location where the new BER airport will open some day.. (should be open since 5 years now)).. ;)

I think it was after Airberlin Ceased operations, Delta airlines took its place. It probably originated in Atlanta

It is a seasonal summer service from New York JFK to Berlin Tegel TXL

They actually started Berlin half a year before airberlin collapsed, announced the route even a year before that. But it was already more than obvious that airberlin would either shrink SIGNIFICANTLY or fail. So I think Delta wanted to have a foot in the NYC-BER market already when this happens, to catch some of the traffix generated by those two daily TXL-JFK flights by airberlin. Of course these two flights lived from connecting passengers mainly, but there should be enough for a summer seasonal. The Berlin market especially to the US is not very big being a O&D city. Yields are only good in the summer months. Still only one flight during the winter months and Delta still flying seasonal (except this year where there is no Delta to Berlin at all due to Corona).
