I liked how the maps were darker and the atmosphere really matched the theme of the game. It definitely had more creepy vibes back then.
put on the little bottle offering
Right. I definitely miss the old aesthetics. Felt more authentic. Especially old macmillan and farm
Lol you're just use to it, don't play for a year mate and you'll be scared because new killers
Just let go
I used to actually be afraid of killers. I was inept at looping and if a killer found me, I knew I was going to die shortly after. In those days, if you weren't saved from a hook correctly, your entire team could lose the match. So the atmosphere was darker and more immersive and the stakes were higher.
I remember hearing Oni activate his ability, and being nervous because I knew he could rush over to me and down me immediately haha
@@Sykroid I'd probably still mince ya bro, I'd make ya scared cause my knight will shut down your loops and make you feel like a noob again, plus I have perks where I'll see you behind walls.
Ain't no way you'll get away bro
We need more ambient fog on a lot of the maps. It’s ridiculous how bright everything is.
And the grass needs to change too. I remember this specific bush you used to hide in on old Ormond in one corner of the map, and how the Killer Shack could spawn on 2 different corners. The corner where it is NOW, is the corner that that grass spot was in. It was awesome.
Corn used to be a lot thicker, and now you can't hide in it at all thanks to the daytime and lighting changes. Bamboo on Yamaoka maps also got thinned out.
I honestly think that's what I miss most about the old days. Hiding with concealment instead of cover. Not really a lot of examples of this anymore. I also remember there being more cover stretched around places so if a Killer wanted to check a room, they couldn't just pop their head in and do a quick sweep, they'd have to go in and check around stuff. Now a lot of places are super barren and there's no way to hide from the Killer bar lockers or mimicking their movements to stay out of sight.
Defaut settings aren't bright. It's dark af

@@gabrielantunez7642 Oh, trust me, I want killers buffed too (except Nurse). But that shouldn’t come at the cost of the game’s atmosphere. Hell, maybe killers can be able to see through the fog.

@@albinocat to be fair, Dead Dawg Saloon is a prety balanced map. It only becomes killer sided when survivors use most palettes early on, because than the map has a lot of dead zones, but other than that I think it's the only actually balanced map in the game. Midwich is the real killer sided map. It's very easy to get downs in the halls or even in the worst case, you can easily camp the exit gates, because they are prety close to each other.
I really do miss when the game felt like an atmospheric horror game with its own aesthetic and identity. No matter who the killers or survivors were, they never felt out of place. I’ve always thought I was the only person who hated how they just stopped caring about that completely.
I don’t really know anyone personally who has that same problem with the game as me, which sucks because this game has lived rent free in my head for years because of that. I just wish I could go on all these rants tearing it apart and have someone understand and agree.
I feel the same 😭 I miss the old maps, old animations, noob3, and everything that this game was, now the devs don't care and they wanna make it "balanced" and competitive and that is so shit imo, when this game should be a horror casual game with friends
@@RostTV I totally agree with you that this should be a casual game. Now there like 300 perks and complex killer abilities you have to understand. In order to not get stomped as a new or returning player you have to read 200 massive walls of text.

I Seriously feel this video on a level that I could Never describe. I was obsessed with this game when I was 16 (Which was around when the game first dropped, in 2016). Played the beta, and then played the released game for 3 consecutive years after. I Really loved this game, so much. And over those 3 years, I watched it turn into something that no longer wanted players like me. I watched one of my all time favorite games, turn into my all time Most Hated game, no joke. I'm glad I've moved on from the game at this point, but I can't help but find moments where I miss the old DBD. I miss my old DBD Friends, I miss when the community was still new and friendly, I miss when winning and losing didn't matter, I miss actively tuning into my favorite DBD Streamers (some of which I even ended up making friends with), I miss when even Those streamers used to enjoy the game, and I miss the genuine fun-ness of the game before it all just started going downhill. DBD is a game that captured my heart from the day I played the beta, no other game has done that for me. No other game has also stabbed my heart the same way DBD did after it became something that no longer welcomed me. DBD was definitely a big part of my life when it first came out, I wanted to be the best at it. And for a while, I was really good. Constantly Rank 1 Nurse. And I loved it. Then it just changed and I was no longer happy while playing it. I'll forever cherish the memories, friends, and experiences had while playing this game. And while I do miss how it used to be, I don't miss the game as a whole, anymore.
That was beautiful 🥺 hope you’ve found another game (or something else !) that brings as much joy in your life now !
@@batardesensible Aww thanks!
It's kind of hard to enjoy things these days to be completely honest, but I have been Really enjoying the PC Version of Identity V (Which is like, the chinese version of dbd lol) which despite being a mobile clone, is actually Leagues better than DBD. Most games can bring me joy if I play them with friends, but I unfortunately have found it difficult to be able to just enjoy things on my own these days ^^;
@@xXblazmodzXx oh that’s sad to hear 😔. I’ve heard about Identity V when I used to play DBD mobile (before getting my PS5 in 2022 🥳), but I never tried because the graphics didn’t appeal to me. It is a phenomenon that I see quite often in modern online games, the fact that they start as glorious but then fall apart in pretty sad ways

Macmillan with the blue tints. Autohaven with the green tint. Old coldwind. The old animations and HUD back when the meta was ruin and pop. Tier 3 perks when they used to be green. It just doesn't have that same feel to it and I really don't know why.
Unrelated, but this clip from here about Breaking Bad truly broke something inside me, his words were super honest when he mentioned "alive". Truly heartbreaking.
About DBD, I sadly can't tell I played the old versions, but I can definitely tell I've watched many gameplays and I practically hate how they made maps a lot shinier, the lighting is ridiculously set even in maps supposed to be "night time", the moon feels like a big ass lamp in front of your face. Not to mention, I know this ain't a Silent Hill game but when you're supposed to get an offer for the entity to increase fog in the ambience, I dunno, perhaps it would be awesome if the match had actual fog that didn't allow you to see depending of the offer's grade you know. New dbd is better, especially in gameplay. The only thing better about old dbd is the atmosphere and animations.
new dbd: too many killers, unkind to newer players, devs who dont test their game therefore creating killers who either arent fun to face, are underpowered or have boring counters, starstruck, pain res, quad slowdown meta, dedicated servers, long queue times
and old dbd: not as many killers, kind to newer players, simple fun meta for both sides with easy counters, (juggle with ds, hit greats with ruin), people didnt sweat, and better graphics, UI, and animations, old hillbilly, old everything. the game isnt unbalanced in solo q, it never was. its just an excuse people make to justify them being terrible, old dbd had better everything

I first got into dbd when pyramid head came out in 2020 (4th year anniversary), played pretty consistently for a month before stopping until nemesis came back (5th year) and have consistently played for the last two and a half years. I had the most fun back when artist came out, I wasn’t as good as I am now but I was enough to enjoy it and not so good my MMR wasn’t dragging me through hell like it is now. It's so...complicated now. New chapters, new updates, tweaks and balances - a fucking battle pass!? I just can't keep up.
Tbf, the first rift came out in 2019. So rifts have been in the game for awhile now.
New chapters and updated have been (literally) the same since the game released. Every 3 months a new chapter, every half way point was a mid chapter. The tweaks and balancing have always been the same odd balancing here and there on perks and such, until the 1 or 2 wide sweeps they did to hit a TON of the perks.
Also just pretend the pass doesn't exist, that's what I feel most people do unless you specifically want a skin from it. I don't think me or any of my friends even look at it.
