I went to see "Wicked" in Dallas for my second time on May 29 since I saw it in 2005 wih the original national tour cast, who were all brilliant. I thought the show was still in great shape. Donna Vivino and Chandra Lee Scwartz were terrific as Elphaba and Glinda. I also really enjoyed Richard H. Blake and Jayne Houydshell.

Yes he is. The orchestra is pretty much identical to NYC. The Orchestra is actually stronger on the road than in NYC. It is the same show, and I think its better even than NYC.

Mr. Quinn isn't entirely accurate in his description of this tour.
The original Broadway score has been reduced, replacing many orchestra members with synthesizers. (mostly strings and brass)
What you hear coming from the pit is an approximation of how the composer wanted the music to sound.
It is fine if the producers of the show wish to scrimp on the music, as long as they don't try to sell their show as virtually identical to the Broadway experience.
