      How do you like it. In the market for one

    • @ranmangolf
      @ranmangolf 10 месяцев назад

      @@curtisgriggs2054 Overall, I like it a lot. PROS: Solid feeling doors and solid construction, the seats are comfortable with lots of leg and head room in the front seat and reasonably as good in the backseat. It drives smooth for an SUV, lots of cargo space, the back seats fold down easily, great power and speed, love the aspirated 3.5 liter engine with NO turbo which wears out engines. Stayed away from hybrids which will most likely need a new battery $$$ in ten years. I got 24mpg on the hwy on a 500 mile drive over the weekend, and at long low consistent speeds got 27 mpg. Had good traction on unplowed snowy streets. CONS: There are some things I would change for Honda: Bring back the gear shifter instead of push button transmission. The technology has some good stuff but I'm concerned about long term how well all of this techno stuff will hold up in 12 years. It's on all cars now. Good towing capacity but haven't used it yet. OTHER: I found that the Tuxmats fit perfectly on the vehicle and protects the carpet better with additional coverage with great looks. Hope this helps

      is the passport easy to fit in a tight parking lot?

    • @ranmangolf
      @ranmangolf 9 месяцев назад +4

      @@atvchicZ400 I would say that it is harder than parking a midsized sedan in a tight parking lot but it is not nearly as hard as parking a full sized pickup in a tight parking space. The rate of ease depends on what you are used to parking. I have no problems.

    I picked the Passport. Didn’t need the extra seat and it’s not quite as big. As for the redesign, it was all new to me so that wasn’t that much of a factor. I actually like the Passport info screen location better. It’s less visually obstructive. Both are great vehicles so either will make purchasers happy hopefully for many years. Great review!!!

    Passport over the Pilot.
    Reasons:
    1. J series engine in the Passport is bullet proof and it still has vtec.
    2. No roof water leak issues on the Passport unlike the Pilot.
    3. Trunk space and don't need a 3rd row.

    I bought a Honda 2022 Passport Trailsport and I love it! I had leased a Honda CRV and it was too small for us. Being truck drivers, I needed more room! I pack for a semi truck. I pack clothes, food, water, drinks, blankets, sheets, pillows, boots, crockpot, coffee pot, etc…because we’re gone weeks at a time. The CRV was cramped and was filled from second row on, but the Passport, I never touched the second row. I have plenty of room in the back. The CRV would fish tail even in water but the Passport being wider base never did that to me in rain or snow. I love how the Pilot’s look but don’t need the third seat. As for fuel on the Hwy I get 28, yes 28 with regular unleaded. I even took a picture of it! City I get 23. I love my car❤❤❤. I love the way it drives. Coming from a semi to Passport it doesn’t feel like a toy car. It feels like a tank! I feel safe and secure while driving 😊

    The gauge cluster in the new pilot is identical to the 10th Generation Honda Accord LOL! A new pilot is slower to 60 MPH by 1 second compared to the last generation. It is also heavier and gets 1 mi per gallon less. Me and my wife both own Hondas but I could not be more disappointed with the Direction they are going in. I went through all of the gear ratios between the Passport and Pilot and the differences. For slow rock crawling the Pilot is better. For towing (which what I was looking for) I think the Passport is better. More highway tow range RPM gears vs HP and torque. Even though the Pilot has a towing mode I don't think that overcomes the gear ratios. The Pilot sort of wastes two lower gears if not heavy into the off roading. I like the tach on the Pilot way better but not a reason for me not to go with the Passport. I didn't need a third row seat either.

Dealer said (after the purchase) that it was a known issue and wasn't sure Honda could do anything about it? Surely, I'm not the only Honda / Apple consumer, or is this a rare combination. Thanks for any help, or any suggestions for connectivity (I have attempted three different phones, with and without case, orientated in various ways, but keeps turning on for 2-5 seconds then failing). Nice video but you forgot to mention that the 23 Pilot has a timing belt which needs to be replaced after a few years whereas the Passport has a timing chain and doesn't need it. That'll factor in when you have to pay more out of your pocket to replace the timing belt at a dealer.

    • @FullTwisting
      @FullTwisting Год назад +6

      This is not correct. The Passport has a timing belt. The owners manual manual on page 564 indicates replacement may be required at 60,000 miles when used frequently in temperature extremes.

    • @fredmoss4540

      That's totally not true.
      The Pilot, Ridgeline, Passport all have timing belts. Unless you do alot of driving or towing it's not 2yrs. It's 100,000 miles normally.
      I have timing Belt in my 2000 Acura 3.2 TL. We have timing Belt in 2007 Honda Ridgeline. It's been replaced at 222,000 miles.

      @kesha1402 Recommend Mileage Interval. All Honda vehicles use to run on Timing Belts. My 1980 Honda Prelude that I purchased new 1980. I owned it 15yrs. I had Belt water pump replaced.
      They were 60,000 mile interval then.
      My 1990 and 1994 Honda Accords had Timing Belts never got to Mileage interval on 1990 before trading in. The 1994 I was just at 60,000 mile interval before trading in for 2000 Acura 3.2TL
      I still own this vehicle at 24yrs next 106,000 next week. The Belt was replaced at 11yrs old by time. They changed Mileage interval to 100,000 miles. This is unless you tow or drive in extreme temperatures.
      I had it changed once because low mileage and car set for 2 yrs then 1yr in lifetime. It's up and running again.
      We have 2007 Honda Ridgeline Pickup Truck. Timing Belt replace several times by dealership and independent.
      Ridgeline 17yrs and over 227,000 miles.
      Most all Honda/Acura vehicles use to have Timing Belts. Pilot, Odyssey minivan. Passport SUV. Acura MDX standard model. Not sure about Type S.
      Just a tried and true engine design.
      Timing Chains can have problems as well.

    I just purchased a used 2020 Passport, so I'm stuck with the older design. I like the redesigned dash features of the 2023 Pilot. I've owned Toyota Camrys for the last 30 years and find their dash features sleeker than the 2020 Passport. I bought the passport for towing a teardrop trailer and really like the two-row configuration because of the dedicated cargo space. I don't want or need a third row. Toyota doesn't make a two-row vehicle that I was satisfied with, so I started looking at the Hondas. The one thing I'm not happy with on my Passport is my ability to reach the foot pedal. I prefer to sit higher in the vehicle so I can see over the front end, but when I do that, I can't comfortably reach the foot pedal, so I have to lower the seat. I'm 5'4", so not unreasonably short for a woman. Considering how many women drive these vehicles, you'd think they would have a better way of dealing with height differences. Otherwise, I find the car to be comfortable, a little less quiet than the 2020 Pilot I test drove, and not quite as quick on acceleration, just like your video comparison, so not much has changed in three years. I have the Elite model, and my husband considers it a little stubby in appearance, although I don't mind the appearance; I really like the black 20-inch rims. I hope I find the same reliability with the vehicle I'm used to experiencing with my Toyotas. I'll go on my first tow in a few weeks and hope to have a good experience.

    The pilot drives like a truck. My wife feels she can handle the Passport much easier, so we picked the 2024 Passport Black edition, just last week.

    Passport sales suck and value dropped like crazy after a couple of years! Can’t understand why Honda hasn’t updated the Passport yet, it would totally increase sales. If you want a bargain, get it now and make sure you want it for many years, because when 2026 Passport finally comes out, the value of the ones prior will be horrible…like some KIAs.

    the Pilot is the best...the new V6 engine is the best...the naturally aspirated engine is superior than any type of turbo-charged -hybrid engines-you know those coming out from Toyota

    Poorly planned comparison... should have WAITED until you can compare both models in WHITE!
    NO NEED TO BLAME AVAILABILITY!!
    ALSO: Why in the world would you film a dark vehicle at sunset??????
    AGAIN: Why not wait and film during the day???
