Amira and her brother Fincent (violin) were invited by André Rieu to come to London for a Masterclass at Wembley Arena on Saturday 7 December 2013.
6 years of pure unadulterated pleasure from a beautiful, unassuming little Dutch girl who has taken the world of opera singing to an audience of millions who, hitherto, would not have countenanced listening to classical music. Thank You Amira.
I have been listening to Amira for almost 2 years now. The last person I followed was Charlotte Church and really liked her voice, but knew something was missing. Before I was able to get Amira's cd's I decided to try Jackie Evoncho. and went to a record store and bought 3 of Jackie's cd's played them 2 times, they were ok but did not amuse me. I was getting the same vibe as I did Charlotte, only I still prefer Charlotte to Jackie. Then Amira's cd's came in, plus all the you tube live performances.. Then it hit me when Jackie was smiling thru O Mio Bambino Caro and when she was about 11 a reporter asked her if she knew what the words mean't. Jackie responded no. Now from what I have listened to in Opera ( not knowing different languages) that most anything Puccini wrote was about the person wanted to and did sometimes kill themselves. So while beautiful it had a lot of sadness in it. Now watch Amira she smiles to greet audience and then to there approvals of applause. During her songs she is somewhere else and you see emotion in her voice. I believed while brother and parents helped translate the words, she learned what it is about. I remember a you tube of Gabriels Song at tv station ( she told the story of the movie and song) and sung in in Swedish. I am not hear to bash the others the voices they are good and do appeal to others. Just in my opinion I feel passion in the music, when Amira sings.
I agree totally with you.All though some of Amira's rivals have fine voices,they do not hold that attraction for me that Amira has. For example, Angelina Jordan has a beautiful voice I just do not like her style of music.We all have our likes and dislikes but variety is the spice of life. It was a very good idea to put English subtitles under some other videos. You should make it a habit to help us understand what's going on.
A capital suggestion.
All those videos should have English subtitles for the whole world to understand what they are saying. The Dutch are conscientious people and not lazy, great qualities. So why do they fail us here by leaving us in the dark.
Also I find that too little is shown of Rieu's master class to Amira, in fact practically nothing, except for the comment on her holding higher notes.
As Martha says "I wish I could understand". Nobody in the world can understand Dutch. I am sure we would have welcomed a more complete presentation. Too much space is given to the idle talk of the TV station presenters. Pity.
Roo Bookaroo I am sure that many people would agree with you but we also need to appreciate just how hectic life has been for the Willighagen family over the past few months. I have tried to assist and have already prepared a translation of the video above but I am waiting (hoping!) for a longer version with more actual 'class time' with both Amira and Fincent.

Roo Bookaroo I am completely English naturally, and know nothing about Dutch. But I enjoyed this video anyhow. I understood many things, because language is just the outer voice of the inner thoughts and energy. Angels talk to us through feelings, and so when you get better to hear things through energy and feelings, then you can understand a lot.
Personally also, I don't have a right to say I want more of the master class. They are private and belong to the little girl and her brother. I am thankful they shared part of that experience with me. This is how I feel.

Das ist sehr schwierig und hängt hauptsächlich von ihr selber ab. Man sieht ihr an, dass sie ins Rampenlicht will, dass sie glänzen und sich beweisen will. Da sie die Folgen nicht abschätzen kann, muss sie alles, was danach kommt. "erdulden" und daran wachsen, ... oder zerbrechen.
Die Alternative hieße, es aus Vorsicht und aus negativen Erfahrungen Erwachsener mit dem Schicksal anderer Wunderkinder zu unterbinden, was Amira aber garantiert auch nicht glücklich machen und mit einiger Wahrscheinlichkeit genauso viele psychische Unwägbarkeiten für ihre spätere Entwicklung haben würde.
Der Volksmund hat diese Problematik auf eine einfach Formulierung herunter gebrochen: "Wie man's macht, macht man's verkehrt"
Wie dem auch sei, der Teufel ist aus der Box, jetzt gibt's kein Zurück mehr. Wünschen wir ihr, dass ihr das Schicksal eines Macauley Culkin erspart bleibt.

Macauly Culkin wurde mit seiner Rolle in "Kevin allein zuhaus" sehr berühmt, jedoch konnte er danach nie wieder daran anknüpfen und kam mit dem Ruhm bzw. dessen Vergänglichkeit nicht klar. Als auch noch seine Eltern geschieden wurden geriet er in den Strudel von Drogen und Selbstzweifeln. Auch eine junge Ehe scheiterte. Momentan scheint er sich wieder gefangen zu haben.
Auf Amira angewandt bedeutet das: Wird sie mit ihrem Ruhm umgehen können? Und wie wird sie damit fertig werden, wenn sie mit Älterwerden ihren "Niedlichkeits-" und Wunderfaktor verliert und sich die öffentliche Aufmerksamkeit einer neuen "Sensation" zuwendet?
Ich hoffe, problemlos. Ihr Vater machte mir in den wenigen Augenblicken, wo er zu sehen war, den Eindruck, dass er es schaffen kann, sie da durch zu bringen.
Ja, ich empfand den Vater auch gut.. nicht abgedreht und auf Erfolge im TV aus... es war einfach ein gesunder Stolz, den er für seine Kinder hatte
