I remember purchasing pari for all of my friends who became members of NPHC Orgs back in the 90’s. I knew a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. who owned her own bookstore. She maintained a wonderful selection of Greek-Lettered-Org merchandise to purchase. She seemed to always have something unique & different. My friends enjoyed their gifts.

Wow! Some people are very negative on here about what is simply women joining what is ultimately a volunteer organization with standards and membership requirements. Ideally members will act as sisters, promote good in the community, look out for each other, and put in a longtime commitment. Unfortunately, like any group (including church) you will have some bad apples and things will not always go smoothly. Because a few people are bad, doesn't make the whole organization bad. People are making assumptions that it is a pledge above GOD(and it's not), that members think they are better than others(and most of them don't ;-) ) and that there is no true sisterhood( which there is, but realistically, you are not going to be friends with everyone in a chapter...hell, some of us barely like our own family). I think a lot of this sprouts from it being exclusive in it's intake and meetings, and people getting left out and maybe feeling inadequate or simply not understanding. I get it. I joined when I was 20yrs old. Now that I'm almost 40, I probably wouldn't do it, because I'm at a different place in life. I am still active in sorority and community, I have some true sisters (being honest I'm not close to all of them, but would go out of my way to help any of them) & I can go anywhere & have a starting point to meet new people. Last as an aside, do organizations like "Jack and Jill" & "OES" and white fraternity/soririty get the same flack as the divine nine sorority/fraternity?
@Drea, OES most definitely get the same flack as do our whole Masonic Order, I've been traveling for 20yrs now and I very rarely get pulled off my Square, it's just not worth it and to be honest it's not for everybody, I used to get people asking to tell them this or tell them that and I'd say sure, tell me your bank account number lol, it's not a secret, it's just none of there business. /G\ PHA

But this is full confirmation and has given me the confidence to go back to college and finish my degree and whaaaat, pledge delta sigma theta., so happy for her. Go girl, and live out ur dreams!!!

Honest question cause the only Delta's I know is my aunt and HS teacher and they pledged in college... So is she an honorary member cause she's a celebrity or did she go back to college?
She is not an honorary member, she is a member of a graduate or Alumnae chapter. If for some reason you are unable to join a greek organization while in college, you may also have the opportunity to join through a graduate chapter after you've earned your college degree.
I recall when Quad was personally adamantly against sororities, when she insisted that she was more than enough, etc.,but I could tell even then that she desperately wanted to be part of one. I was so pleased she followed her heart and did all that she needed to, in order to achieve that which she desired. I do believe it has altered her for life, for the better, given her the family and support group of sisterhood she needs and craves, and I noticed a glow in her immediately. Of course finally being able to get some restorative sleep after she crossed the burning sands helped. I say ALL of this in the warmest, most sincere intention (I know how connotations can read); bizarrely this was on my home suggested feed 9 MONTHS later 😅, I was moved to comment right away. Delta looks LOVELY on you, Quad.❣️
Tenika Banks she joined a graduate chapter, meaning she already has a BA degree. All of those women do. Black sororities you can join at any age, during college and after.
