Back in highschool all the kids on my school bus one day convinced the driver to full send it over a speed bump at 40mph. All of us in the back of the bus flew completely out of our seats, one kid looked to hit the roof of the bus, and 3 ended up in the walkway.
I miss these damn things! Wmata’s lived until 2021 due to breakdowns and stuff happening to them. Rip to the de40lf. 2002/2003/2004-2020. 5601H-5612H. And 5831H-5850H.
Novas were the speed kings . One night ,i was driving down I 78 east & pulled up on A Nova bus operated by N.J. Transit coming in hot from Phili . I was impressed with how that beast was hauling ass till Orange flame start coming from the muffler!! At the time ,i was driving an Acura Legend & you know those dont joke ,i hit 110 mph to pass the damn bus .
That Was One Of The Best "Leans" Since The Grumman/Flxible Metro Series Buses Of The 20th Century. And Flxible Still Reigns King Of The Leans. My Opinion Of Course. Nice Shot.
Back when I drove for Red and Tan...we did things like this , along with racing. I always wanted to go to one of the meets. I worked with Trevor Logan that owned an MC9, and has I think an Orion?
In Ontario Canada that would be a stunt driving charge with an automatic 30 days license suspension, plus a 14 days vehicle impoundment. The charged are one to three year License suspension and a fine of $2,000-$10,000 for a first offense.

Believe it or not, transit systems participate in an international competition called the "Bus Roadeo." There are bus maintenance activities and bus driving competitions, and one of the driving competitions involves navigating a course with tight turns, etc. My guess is that this was a practice run.
Damn those old new flyers definitely had the guts to pull that off. The new ones running on natural gas couldn't do it, engines are just too weak. Diesel or nothing
I'd hate to be the criminals trying to stop THAT bus. Any blockade would be render useless by it's sheer ability to do the unexpected on a whole new level.
