  • An easy to make dryer lint trap that can be made for less than $10. The vent allows hot air to escape. The filter trap dust that escapes from the water container inside.
Material: 6quart plastic container, 16x8 soffit vent, basic dust filter, scrap wood, existing dryer duct.

Congratulations. You just choked out a significant amount of your drier's efficiency.
Everybody me of back pressure impedes airflow inside the tumbler. Less airflow = less efficiency = longer dry time and burned out elements.

I would recommend putting openings on more than one side (e.g., two sides and maybe the top if you're in a corner; three sides and the top if you're in the middle of the wall). Lots of advantages to adding more "outs." 1) You'll get less back-pressure. 2) Quieter (i.e., air is spread across a larger area instead of concentrated). 3) Air filter doesn't need to be changed as often.

You should drill a small hole put a rod threw it on foam mark the full level so you’ll know when you need to add

I would have just made a box to take a standard 16" x 16" furnace filter with a water container in the bottom.

Hi, I use the California Air Tool ultra quiet. I use it at 1am & it is barely heard outside the closed garage. It refills super quick as well.

I use a Makita Big Bore www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-2-6-Gal-2-HP-Portable-Electrical-Hot-Dog-Air-Compressor-MAC700/202713487 . They do make a bigger one www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-4-2-Gal-2-5-HP-Portable-Electrical-2-Stack-Air-Compressor-MAC2400/202713485 . I would guess that any Makita designated as "big bore" will run much more quiet than most comparable sized compressors on the market. I do plan to research the California Air Tool ones though as I'm always looking for options.

    Whats the water for

    • @SydBuilds

The water is to keep the lint/dust from flying out of the top venting holes. The moisture weights down the particles.
