This is in a book by Bonham’s brother ( if I recall correctly) - Bonham complimented Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland; who were very gracious and appreciative. Sting; on the other hand; gave him the brush- off; being a bit arrogant. When a family member complained to Bonzo about Sting’s diss; Bonham let it slide - ‘ We were exactly the same when we started out; cocky and arrogant. Let him enjoy it’- or something to that effect.

Then he was asked about the music John had been listening to in 1980, when Zeppelin were doing that short European tour Dortmund, Munich, Brussels, etc. Robert then said that John had been giving high praise to the Police w/ Stewart Copeland, and Rush w/ Neil Peart.

Claypool that might be just as good or better. Guitar players equal to Page? So many great ones. But better is tough there. Van Halen and Rhodes come to mind as being equals. Bonham on drums was one my favorites too. He combined power drumming with incredible technical abilities and groove. Carl Palmer is faster and has more technical abilities. But doesn't groove like Bonzo. So many others like Bozio, Gadd, Moon, Mitchell, etc. As great as those guys are, none of them got me as into the groove as much as Bonzo. To me he was the best.

John Bonham and Neil Peart were two of my all-time favorite drummers. Bonham, of course, was a one-man powerhouse, and Peart, with his immense creativity, was rock's answer to Buddy Rich. Stewart Copeland is also a talented drummer, but his playing style is subtle and restrained and not as appealing to me, although he ironically was a heavy influence on Peart.

Have you listened to Copeland playing, for example, Next to you, Landlord, Fall out, Peanuts, No time this time, Truth his everybody, Synchronicity, Omega man, Rehumanize yourself, Dead end job, Nothing achieving, On any other day, It'salright for you, Visions of the night, Friends, Bombs away, The other way of stopping, A sermon, Flexible strategies...? I'm not saying he was the greatest rock drummer, but he could play and did play rock. To say his style was "restrained", doesn't seem to me to be totally accurate, "subtle" yes, many times, as one can hear that on most tracks (to name just a few: Shambelle, Bed's too big..., Driven to tears, Every little..., Don't stand...--particularly the beginning, So lonely, Spirits..., One world..., Walking on the moon, I burn for you, I burn for you, wrapped around your finger, Dark nes, and the very impressive ending to Voices inside my head --after the Shah, shah, shah...). Copeland was very creative too, no wonder another creative drmmer like Peart found inspiration in him, don't forget that Peart was a very openminded drummer, always eager to learn. I can aee a glimpse of Copeland's influence on Peart in Rush's Vital signs, for example.

Copeland said "that Little bastard had chops!" about Joey Jordison. He would without a doubt like Aaron Kitcher, believe it or not that shit's right up his alley.

Who knows he could have been under the influence at the time of the meeting.... I mean I would have been but that's me....
Give Stewart a break... For that matter he very well could have been under the influence in a completely sober way from the adrenaline and the excitement of playing in front of a live audience will give you one hell if a high all by itself......

I can tell you that Bonham hated Karen Carpenter, because she was said to be a better drummer.

Her and her brother I guess were talented. Duo obviously wrote some great songs regardless if it’s not your genre of choice, but that’s as far as I’m going aren’t we talking about John Bonham? Not ready to put more than one or two other people in the discussion and Karen certainly isn’t one of them

@@marramamberta321 Thank You. I will assume that you are being authentic? If not, no big deal her and her brother were definitely good songwriters and talented….. I certainly don’t like to denigrate the dead and like I always say it’s subjective but without being cruel, we’re talking about John Bonham and the mighty Led Zeppelin. I could be rude, but I believe they both passed away at about 3233 something like that? But let’s not …well before I say that , I will ask because anybody taking this serious? I am a music junkie have a vast collection of Vinyl always, original pressed autographs collectibles I love Led Zeppelin, The Stones, GNR greatest frontman ever greatest band for five years from 88 to 93 never saw anything like that, but I wouldn’t say that drama was OK. Let’s end this. John Bingham is the greatest drummer ever. I’ll give you Karen Carpenter I’ll give you ginger Baker. I’ll give you Eddie Van Halen. I’ll give you anyone you want the Led Zeppelin break up due to his death. They didn’t think anybody else could do it iconic. It’s a wrap.

That is what the Eagle’s song “New Kid in Town” is really about. Being replaced in the hearts of fans as they move on to other bands and trends. The town bicycle in that song is a metaphor for fame/the machine. The other people are the fans.
Billy Joel’s “The Entertainer” is not a good song by any means. But it has a legit message to all upcoming musicians and should be listened to carefully.
Look at Mastodon! Their last album was a bloated mess and that was 2020. Think anyone under 15 wants to become a new fan? Full disclosure I love them. But where they’ve been? They need a new strategy fast. Or they’ll be another can of beans

You leave Stewie out of it. We all know Peter & Lois are the worst parents.
Courtney Cox is one of the Copelands & grew up in luxury in Alabama in the mountainous forested area south of Birmingham, where the white elites live.
Some people are Nepo-babies & keep it deep cover. She got to dance with Bruce, got a journeyman job on Family Ties, got Ace Ventura and the Friends $ just kept on rolling. Granted, she is easy on the eyes in her prime. But getting your foot in the door is half the effort.
