Got ES Anabel after dropping 2k stones on the free banner, and Xianhua from the SDE. Probably going to SA her once I get one more starchart. Also, I do agree that the guiding star encounter being random between the 10 was disappointing - but still, I got something out of it - SA'd Ewella AS from it.
Not going to lie finding out the star dream encounter gives you a random chance of getting a sa unit instead being able to freely select which you want tones down the value for it. Seeing as sa have been out for months and it has not been that long since that gave PAID players a way to sa units more than 1 every 3 months. The timing of a encounter like this kind of makes your heart drop. If your a paid user you already pulled on uprated banners with chrono pack or maybe your monthly and at least got two or three sa by now unless your luck been real bad(me😢). Even so you got enough resources to sa two or three more units if you side graded them. With skip tickets its a lot quicker and not as grindy which is great but when you look at the options for random sa encounter on that banner and notice most of options you just spent resources to finally sa them. The additional is glossed if you been whale or light spender since the bonus on light and shadow from trials. All that being this encounter has more benefits for new players are ftp starting to spend when haven't been on AE long. For longtime whales summoning on regular star dream is recommended you get 1 starchart won't have long wait to complete and sa them.

Update. Used 1k more free stones the 2nd day, and got 4 star Xianhua., So I while I am very lucky, I agree it feels underwhelming under this new SA system. I will have to grind Hard Industrial Ruins to get her tome, burn the other usual resources to upgrade to 5 star, burn 3 Allcosmos star charts, and 14 staff shade points to make her worth it to get the good SA abilities.
Wasted 4k for kuchi and 4k for this new banner got nothing I mean I love the game but this is saddening Can't try new unit Can't SA old unit because you need the chart too from either gacha or grind each month Even if you get treatise/codex for side upgrade unit you still need to farm to SA those unit because the chart is limited for f2p I feel like SA is mistake here because they make it p2p as hell

Hello im new player here, i play this game because of the story. Do you have good recommendation character for star dream encounter banner? Im still in early game around 7th chapter story
For ease of playing, grabbing Iphi would still be a great choice. Other ones would be Minalca (get Tetra sidekick, one of the best for healing and support) or Sesta. Finally Yakumo AS is coming soon but if you’re low on stones you can consider grabbing him. Check my 5* review playlist of all these units to see which one suits you best!
Create problem and introduce solution is always gacha game method to stay alive xD i probably gonna skip this banner as i started saving again 2.5k cc rn
I mean if you are a strict F2P player you cannot expect to have any new units in the first day. Curb your urge to spend stones, 3-5k per banner is maximum. Play at your own pace, don't FOMO.
With patience and strict budgeting I’ve been able to have all the units in the game until the SA system dropped. Not sure why I have to temper my expectations now except that the new system isn’t friendly to any players.

You just have more incentive to pull the rate up banner because it gives you SA but if you cannot land it you still have that unit later same way as before via the upgrade, SDE or random encounter. It's not SA version but the unit just lacks one skill not useless like 4 stars version for example. More way to get Allcosmos Starchart is welcome but I don't it's that much of a problem.
No it's not the same. The whole sidegrading system (not fully possible without starcharts and you're limited to 1 per month), the pace of banners (way faster), the adjustment of rates (no 4.5* in AS/ES banners) and more have been changed. A non-SA 5* is weaker than previous regular 5* by far nowadays. If you feel it's the same that's up to you. I've been here since the beginning and I can tell you it's not the same.

First multi on the free banner, got Ewella ( elven Lancer) So I now have her, and her SA.
Currently at 930 CS, so I can soon do another 10x encounter.
after playing for years, I finally got a 3x 5* characters on free aniv. 10 pulls, this feels like a miracle. (Alma, Anabel, Milsha)

Def great as least now you can try to side grade for great ns DPS and possible skip and save on his as coming later.

Of those 3, if you’re not planning on pulling on Yakumo AS in the future, I’d say Yakumo is a great choice still. After that, probably Xianhua.
