What a beauty of a kayak! I like the modified Advanced Elements AE1012 you reviewed a while back. I added the Drop Stitch AND the cool backbone for comfort and tracking, but the big mod that really put it in a whole new level was glueing a skeg keel at the rear of my kayak. Totally Awesome!
I'm seriously wondering whether the two-person version of Airvolution 2, which is much wider than the single-person version, is not uncomfortable for paddling?
@@dereksmith7770 I just bought the DSXL frame kayak...and LOVE IT. The grass will ALWAYS be greener. When it comes down to it...kayaking is just fun, anyway.Have fun in your Elites...very , very good choice!!!
@@dereksmith7770 I think you will have a lot of fun with those too, my boyfriend has the elite and loves it. But... I am currently looking for one for myself :) Let me know if you decide on selling!
I hear you. I just bought two Sport DS kayaks for my daughter for her graduation present. If I had known I would have considered buying these instead. :( Oh well, that's just the way things go I guess. These would have been twice the price but are probably twice the boat in capability, convenience, and fun. She loves the Sports and will get many years of use out of them.
Sea Eagle has had a boat like this for the past couple of years, the Razorlite. Would be nice to see a review comparing that with this boat. Sea Eagle has 3 year warranty. What will AE warranty be for their boat?
The Razorlite is an open cockpit design more like a canoe than a sit inside kayak. But you are right, they have had a DS based kayak available for some time now. They seem to be fairly comparable in price (give or take).
Looks good. I considered buying the convertible advanced elements elite but it was super long. We are only 5'6. My question, can you purchase a skirt that zips on to provide bit more coverage? And is it suitable for open water? We'd like to use it outside of the harbour to go whale watching
El Scruffo McScruffy If you are talking about a skirt for the Airvolution, then no, well not at this time. Advanced Elements skirts offered today only work on their inflatable kayaks with inflatable combing. Those kayaks are the Convertable, Expedition Elite and the Advanced Frame, and all of those are rated Class 1 & 2. In heavy chop in an ocean environment i would not recommend.
Dale, How do you think someone who is a little over six feet would fit in the Airvolution? Would it feel tight? Would it be comfortable with the bend in the knee? In the AirKayaks, sneak peak, she mentioned that her husband (whom I think is 6'2") seemed to be comfortable. But, I was curious what you thought now that you have been in the Airvolution. Thanks, Dale
Saw this come out on the AE FB page; was waiting to see if you were going to do a review. Price tag is a tad steep. This might of been a better pick for me vs the AE1007 :/
The seat is a new design. I must admit I had the same thoughts, but after paddling with it the seat was comfortable but I would prefer a stiffer higher back. But again it was comfortable..
Dan Southcomb you are kind of reaching its capacity. Per the manual;Carrying capacity - 235 lbs person, or 300 lbs max load person and gear. Hope that answers your question. You may want to look at the AE3030 as it can be set up for solo..
In the video, were you using the tracking fin? Due to the ease of spinning around, I'm thinking not. If not, did you try it and did it improve tracking?
Whenever you get some time, can you do one on inflating and deflating? You did similar ones for the DSXL. thanks
That is the plan. This was the sneak peek and my formal review is coming soon.

Oooh, interesting. Thanks for the video! Waiting for your follow-up videos on setting-up and packing down. :)

Damn it. I just bought two expedition elites. If i knew this was coming i would have waited.
I was sworn to secrecy. Sorry
@@DaleMrDSimmons Not your fault Sir. Anyone want to buy expedition elites in the UK😂

It seems that every post I have read about Razorlite is that it is "tippy." That has worried me.
@@johnberger3338 I've read that it feels tippy but is difficult to actually tip it over

This inflated, is as hard as a hard yak. I was amazed on its light weight and handling. Totally an amazing kayak.
NiCe Vid .. Good Kayak.. But I'm a Hobie guy .. like hands free .. camera , fishing rod ..Look forward to your next vid
How was the seat? Looks like a large cockpit too!

Dale, That was a great review. Where did you get the blue dry sack? Was it helpful? John
Thank you, the deck bag is a Sea to Summit
What is the max weight capacity?
아주 좋아요
How stable would it be for a 265lb. man.

How is this for someone 6'2
SOLD
you should show how make 2 person to 1person
oooooh......

The front of the kayak is to high up from the water
What does that matter? It seems to be fast and tracks straight. Is there a disadvantage to this?
@@mclark4218 It would be even faster if more of the canoe was in the water. More length in the water is good for speed.
@@raggmunken1958 Makes logical sense.
