Julley in our 82nd Episode of LZA SPENBEY DIGRIM we have invited Tsewang Dorjey, a resilient individual hailing from the enchanting Stok village in the Leh district, to share a remarkable journey shaped by both adversity and artistic passion. Diagnosed with a disability at the age of 8, Tsewang's early years were marked by health challenges that forced a hiatus in formal education after reaching Class 1. Overcoming the obstacles, Tsewang gradually regained mobility with the aid of a walking stick. A serendipitous discovery of a radio broadcast led to a transformative opportunity provided by the handicraft department, where Tsewang immersed himself in thanka painting and various art forms under the guidance of mentors like Ka Angchuk and Olthang Pa for nearly 4 to 5 years. Beyond the canvas, Tsewang's creativity extends to writing tsoms, poems, and filmmaking, with notable contributions to a documentary film on the PAGIR theme titled 'Jungwa.' Despite a busy schedule, Tsewang finds solace in painting during free moments, embodying a steadfast commitment to artistic expression.
