I’m Hmong and do agree we do not have a lot of dresses. My dress was made since I was little for when I got older and was made by my grandmother and mom. Each clan have different headwear/hats and each outfit represent the clan and dialect you speak so they are not mass produced in a sense. I have one dress that is worn for my wedding and New Years and once you get marrie, your family pack plain dresses for you to complete for your child.
Fascinating! I don’t know much but I can say that the Hmong have had a very difficult time lately and that makes me sad. Glad to hear you are keeping tradition alive though! ❤

Many who had kept to themselves, uninfluenced by Western culture until recent decades. That and they were not displaced recently by war... The Chinese war with the Miao caused many to fled to Southeast Asia. We lost so many people, things, culture and traditions along the way and keeping what is necessary to keep us alive. Our clothes have changed because we could only use what was accessible to us in the mountains. Before coming to America, my mom made sure to handmade all my sisters 2 Hmong skirts and 1 outfit each. It's a very long and tiring process, but it's the love and sweat and time that makes us treasure it even more. I hope to own an authentic Miao outfit one day. 🙏
Hi Phoenix! i just recently discovered your channel and i've been watching almost all of your videos because it's really interesting to know about chinese cultures! and since i'm currently working on a chinese themed story for my characters, your videos really give me so much inspiration and information about so many chinese cultures that i don't know. so i want to say thank you so much for making these kind of videos! it's really helpfull, i'm looking forward for your next uploads 💖
Just like the Han people who used gold threads to make intricate designs in their clothes including Qipao. My mom had many Qipao w intricate embroidery made of gold threads, sadly the Qipaos got stolen.
It can take years to make just one dress. And no, they can't be factory produced because machines can't replicate the fine embroidery and details like using your hands.
They're beyond beautiful. There are more existing minorities in other countries who have such skills to, afraid most of them are on the brink of disappearing
Ugh I wish my mom what my ethnic Chinese clan was, but she doesn’t care and doesn’t care to know. Kind of secretly wishing it’s this ethnic group because I would totally wear this to my wedding.
Apparently, your Mother and perhaps other women in the family would have to make it. I have experienced the same lack of acknowledgement in my family. I have been told (and understand) when people leave their country they try very hard to assimilate. Sometimes this means denying their heritage. Sadly.
@@user-ir4fp9mq6z Hi, what more do you need me to explain? This has nothing to do with Africa. Everything here is in the Wa language. The Wa people are an ethnic group primarily living in the mountainous regions of Yunnan Province, China, and parts of Myanmar. The content here includes their traditional folk song。

The Hmong no longer able to produce such finery. But the Miao in China kept their own beautiful culture alive.

Wow! What a lot of intricate work!
Absolutely amazing and beautiful! It would be great to learn more of the history of these fantastic gowns!
I live in Guizhou. I have visited the miao people in a village
It looks very beautyful.
As a Hmong I hope to one day travel to see the ancestral country and try to connect with our original roots
Wow, these outfits are gorgeous.
Also, this was a very fascinating bit of information on an interesting group of people.
Their traditional singing style is so similar to the folk songs at the Balkans.
The song in the background is not Miao
@@angeliquewu8318Do you know the name of the song?
Magnificent!!!
The miao people have always peeked my interest.
Ok, that could almost lure me to travel. To go to places like this and learn how to embroider like that.

"The Meow people..." I was like ah yes cats...then saw it was actually people
We are referred as Miao people because others regarded us as cats/barbarians. So in a way yes cat people
Half of miao tribes are in north east Arunachal Pradesh India❤❤❤❤
Dont the woman of this culture also pass down their jewelry to their daughters?

Miao is Hmong
Wrong. Hmong is Miao but Miao is not Hmong.
Miao is a broad term used for many ethnic groups in china. Some of which do not share language.
Wo men yi qi xue mao jiao, yi qi miao miao miao miao miao
Are they Turkic?
Aren't some made out of silver?
Some head pieces are made out of silver but manys are not
Is that Bgm African?
