I really appreciate you explaining the 'WHY' before the 'HOW'. For those who already knew, you can just fast forward. I think this approach sets you apart from many other tutorialists. Keep on keepin on.
Glad it was helpful!
You don’t need to use LUTs. You can seperate the orange and teal from the other colours quite easily as shown in many other orange teal tutorials. I don’t think he should have left that information out because now it just looks like he’s trying to sell LUTs. Up until then it was a great tutorial. Just some feedback for you.
Thank you, i am Davinci Resolve beginner, i have a certificate in basic editing from Black Magic, however you make me understand basics thus making my DR skills really good
One of the best videos i came across
Thanks for the tips my dude!!
Brilliant. Thank you.
Most impressive here is your usage of FCPX!!! Now I’m a lifetime subscriber to Jeven Dovey
Thans!!! I'll do more FCPX tutorials in the future
At the hyperactive intro I wanted to close the video. I'm glad I didn't! Super useful video - thanks a bunch!
"hey guys, what is going on!"
Can you only color grade like this of you film with a v-log or flat profile?
Should i shoot LOG so that i can apply orange teal lut?
Thanks, dude. I sort of knew all this, but it hadn't come together to a real understanding. Great and helpful explanation!
Glad it helped!
Do you have a LUT package with other colours for different seasons or would orange and teal also work for snow scenery?
It could work. The LUT enhances the blues and makes them more teals. It turns yellows more red so it all depends on whats in your scene
One thing I don't understand is should we use objects im our frame that are teal and orange colors or works with other color?
For example: if we shoot videos in a street market then there are various colors in which while color grading casts colors to image while using teal and orange colors makes easier to color grade?
Yes the more orange and teal you have in frame the more you'll see more color contrast.
wow side by side comp part is amazing !
Great video and explanation! I was checking out your LUT and you mention in the description that you use the LUT on your REC 709 footage. I am shooting with a CINE4 profile on my Sony a7iii. How do you think your LUT will work on that profile? Thanks!!!
yes it should work. You will need to tweak the color and contrast a little bit once you apply it
Awesome! Thanks so much. I appreciate it!
Thanks. I guessed this to some degree but it was great to see the two clips together! Some of it looked too saturated for my liking but you did say you were pushing the envelope to show us. Very helpful and thanks again!
Yup, pushed it for a sample. I usually don't grade it this strong
Awesome videos, man! Thanks!
Jeven you have the most relevant and informative videos all over the web. You have that magic needed to engage the audience to relax and enjoy your wonderful videos. I spent hours learning from your cutting edge techniques. Have you ever thought about visiting Cuba and take some wonderful shots of my Country?Thank you.
I just went out and got a orange and teal LUT. Great video Jeven, and thanks for sharing.
Hi, I bought orange and teal luts from them. in the zip file were 4 .cube files, which I can not install at fcpx. What can I do now. many greetings marco
You need to use a lut plugin. Look up custom LUT in your effects window.
@@JevenDovey Wow, that was very fast:) like mlut? greetings
This has all the info: support.apple.com/guide/final-cut-pro/apply-luts-ver24f966423/mac
@@JevenDovey It works. thank you very much
just found ur channel and i think u are the best among the rest.
Is your LUT compatible with Davinci Resolve 15? I've just tried to import one I have downloaded (not this one in your description) and it didn't come up in LUT list after following all the instructions. Just wondering if all the LUT's are in same format, or do I need to make sure it is compatible with Davinci Resolve?
What would the idea go pro video setting for cinematic looks so that i can shoot and post process using luts
I want to buy the LUT but currently my files are all auto-opening in vegas (as opposed to being downloaded and opened as a rar file. how do I change this so I can download your file then unzip?
My skin tone isn't in the orange...
Believe it or not, yes it is. Whether you are darker or lighter they fall under the same "Orange" category. But it is a broad category. Which is why it looks so good in film. Its how much you apply or how little that makes the difference.
What he means is the HUE. A color might be darker or lighter, but it's got its intrinsic HUE. And our hues fall into the orange category.
It's hard to explain in this comment section. Please do a Google search with this keyword "Color theory hue value saturation". There's so many articles/sites that teach color theory. A color consists of 3 elements: hue, value, saturation.
Yeah dovey
Thanks so much for the tuts
Am honor
First of all am an African and I have tried to apply this orange and teal look but seems not to work on plants does it mean I never well pls will like more of this from thanks
Very nice video.. great explanation!!! I can see you worked hard on this one and you did fantastic job... just tiny bit more smile there😉...
Thansk!
Demystified the whole topic of colour grading etc. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome!
In Premiere Pro I apply a "CineD to REC709" Lut under the "Creative Tab" so that I can reduce the "Intensity" of it. Can your Tiel/Orange lut be applied to the "Basic Settings" tab?
I don't know premiere pro but if you can apply luts from there then yes. My LUT is the same file type as any other LUT
Nicely done Jeven.. Awesome.
Thanks
I cant understand. Is that any preset for adobe pr??
Hi, your cinematic LUT, i can't open the Link, could you please send me the link? or the LUT?
Hi Jeven
Great channel.
Could you tell me what stabilizer you are using with the compact camera in your intro as I have not been able to find one for my lumix tz100.
Thx
I'm using the Zhiyun Crane for my intro: amzn.to/2zCXbAc It works great and its cheap!
I have videos taken with my phone. Some of them play sideways or even upside down. Is there an editing program that corrects orientation?
Yes editing software can correct this. Not sure on the phone though. I do all my editing on my computer
Hi Jeven, I really enjoy your videos and appreciate you straight forward honest approach! I have downloaded 3D LUT creator but for some reason does not seem to work.. I have already send them an email and waiting for a responce, as I am very keen on buying it. But I wanted to ask you if you know of any alternative SW (s) to 3D LUT creator.
Great vid Jeven, very informative,, mostly, thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
So glad i found this channel!
Hey i just came over from Blackbox to have a look at your channel. I dig your videos, have you ever made it out to Bali, Indonesia? Good luck with your Blackbox journey, hopefully we can all make a little income on the side. New subscriber for sure 😊
awesome mate, thanks for sharing this info
Hope it helps you make awesome content!
Thank you very much for this. Wonderful tutorial...can i ask if you can tutorial also to creat a intro video please
Yeah I'll work on a video about that this week
Great explanation. However, I think some people overdo it and it's getting old to see photos pushed to orange and teal beyond what looks natural.
When you apply the contrast or saturation , the image looks darker. if you correct the shadows the resolution is worse . How you fix that?
sir, can i use this LUT in powerdirector 16?
Sorry I don't know. Not sure with that software
Jeven Dovey how about in vegas pro sir?i love your preset.
Jeven Dovey i mean your LUT.
Your videos have been extremely helpful! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks
Any free software for this orange and teal style?
Not sure. You can do a quick google search for it
I swear you make all footage look so good!! I hope one day i can do the same!! 👍😀👍
You will!! I'm actually working on a course so you can learn everything that I do plus I'll have a FB group where I can help by reviewing footage and giving you feedback. I'll announce its available
Really clear explanation. Love it
Me: tbh it doesn’t look that good... colors are too warm...
Also me: **turns off night shift mode on phone**
😅
Great informative vlog! Thanks for sharing!
Hope it helps with your travel videos!
You're the best.
Thanks bro! Haribol!
Man, your caption says, " Orange and teal tutorial". And you end up saying that Google it".
I got the point how you got those dislikes.
what editor do you use ?
Awesome!
Thanks!
Love this theory Jeven! Awesome edit!
😊😊
Thank you ...
i watched like 10 videos already and still didnt find one that nails this color grading as good as the blockbuster movies. why?
Thanks buddy really informative and helpful.
This totally reminds me of polarizing lens. I could be wrong.
I use a polarizer when I shoot. Mainly polarizers are for enhancing colors and reducing glare in your image. They dont make it orange teal though
Yes sir. Lazy man's colour enhancer! It's nice. ;)
Can you put together a “hey guys, what is going ON?” Compilation. I think that would be hilarious!
Someone needs to do it haha
This was so helpful, thank yoy
Bro i din't have money to buy your lut...sorry
Can you bring back the mp4 format.
"Blockbuster films"
I've read and looked to 3:40, but it's all about colour work on film, nothing (so far) on why the two colours have that relationship. More or less, it is because it is. must look elsewhere.
Nice if you like oversaturated fake-looking scenes.
Still 1 here😲
Not in vietnam anymore
can't dowload T_T
not free
Haha I'm here before 100th comment as usual.
Awesome!

I want your Giveaway Spark,please😧
Very sweet dude I really love the info vids you do ,
(^-^)
Giveaway was finished last week. New giveaway happening sometime in the future
Funny how master cinematographers managed to "separate subjects from the backgrounds" decades before this color grading madness. And now, young film makers think unnatural teal-orange is the way to go.
Is it still becoming even more popular? Please God, no!
Excessive use of Teal-Orange just shows the filmmaker is an amateur.
so all the filmmakers that use this coloring are amateurs?
@@JevenDovey
I did say:
"Excessive use of Teal-Orange just shows the filmmaker is an amateur."
Would you say ..for example, the movie Hancock had a good color grading?
I see that same "copied" look in many, many amateur films, like that is the Thing.
And because that is the "Thing", we have been losing the different shades of blues, making them all green tinted, your yellows turn to orange, and so on, in these two decades.
Movies turned from color films to two-color films.
I understand the Need of color grading, I understand the deliberate use of color grading to set the atmosphere. T&O has nothing to do with that.
I really hope we can see the blue sky as blue, and not green, and faces without "fake tan", in the future more often.
And I'm not alone with this thought.
CGuerrilla I never said this is the best way to color. I made the video cause some people requested how to color orange teal. There’s lots of ways to grade footage to make it look good for sure
@@JevenDovey
I'm not attacking You or this video in any way, I'm just worried about how much this is accepted as a norm and a must in movie industry, and I just wish young people, who are interested about cinematography and movie making, wouldn't just stick to the T&O-technique, thinking it's The standard.
Well.. there is another reason why this is a big deal for me, personally, also.
I have synesthesia, and especially teal causes me nausea. I love movies and filmmaking, but it's become difficult to watch films made in this century. So I might overreact sometimes with this subject. But still ... many people are just fed up with films that all look the same.
