56:30 .. In hindsight.. As that gbox bearing was a non press fit type, and just slid off. Perhaps that was to be removed first.
Then the shaft (gears included) would have had much more wiggle room on the inner side of the casing, giving the opportunity to remove the lot in one go?
Was wondering that too. Straight to comments to see if anyone had been here first😂
Hi everybody I haven’t commented for a little while but I haven’t missed any of the videos. All I can say is that the last few weeks I’ve liked the format it’s more about you and the guys in the garage. The guys are getting more involved. There’s a lot of more piss taking with the guys And I think it’s really entertaining now so just keep it as it is the people that don’t like you what you’re saying in your accent it’s all about you. It’s your Garage. It’s how you are and it’s gonna be kept like that. It’s about you. You’re better half and your staffas long as you’re happy that’s all that matters.
So stuff them all keep yourself happy keep smiling and don’t let the bastards grind you down. I love it cheers mate keep on pumping the videos out.
Definitely better when the boys are involved. Good move.
This is why I feel your channel is FUCKING GREAT!!! Your not just showing the high end car stuff but also the bike stuff as well. I don't understand why your channel hasn't blown up yet as your content is great, crazy variety of content as well, and your just funny as hell to watch LOL to me you give zero fucks about how people feel about certain things and speak your mind, your not trying to please anyone, and your being yourself.
I think it should get more popular in time.
Especially when people find out that Mat Armstrong relies on Ricky for expert advice..... And so does everybody else for that matter.
Except Honda 😂 they don't want his advice hehe
@@CraigMansfield 🤣🤣
This is the best video I’ve watched, don’t think anyone else shows you how race engines for bikes
This is the best type of video mate! Plus as someone who just spent hours replacing crusty head races on my daily ride which fought me all the way, watching someone with your skill spannering on a brand new motor is deeply relaxing to watch 😂
Outstanding! A privilege to watch a Professional at work✊👍
Yessss. Feet up. Cuppa tea. 1hr REPERFORMANCE is in session. Much prefer the longer uploads.
Watching someone split the cases to work on a transmission makes me like my ole '09 ZX-6R even better. My drum started to act up last season, cover off, clutch off, 12 bolts or so for main cassette and the whole trans comes out easy as can be. Swapped the whole trans with a spare over lunch.
I thought when you said "If you walk in my engine room and pick anything up" you were going to say "I'll give you a clout!"
Love seeing Kate and hearing her comments...behind every successful man yardayardayarda, but it's true.
Now this is more like it love a good bike video hopefully we see r man in action this year 👌🤯
I did notice you pulled the bearing off didn't want to leave a comment just in case you we're still pissed off - but buckets of respect at you bud for uploading showing your mistake very cool 😎👌
well done Ricky on including (the mistake) but you did say you had never stripped one before, so its nice to know you are human😀😀
Everyone makes mistakes mate! Have to embrace them or you aren’t learning!!
@@REPerformanceUK' you learn little from winning, but more from losing ' .
Great video! Got to appreciate how complex a bike engine is compared to car engines! And to strip an engine/box that you havent worked on before in an hour is very impressive!
Great video and great to see some bike engine architecture explained. Especially how you just crack on with it even though you've never worked on that engine platform before. Knowledge is power 👍 Hi to Kate 😁
Another great vlog 😮
Don't know how you remember so much.
All the best from sunny Tenerife 😊😊
Rick, can't sleep so just watching the cheapest RS6 vid as you do😂at 4.20 in the am. Without the hat you are a slimmer Tom Hardy 🤔😁 Your BRILLIANT BUD 👏 never change 👍
Well done keeping all together in your head .
Master Class Rick. Great watch. Appreciate the education.
Thanks for watching!
Another interesting video. The strange accents thing, we all did it where I worked! Nice to see the gearbox add on bit, it happens, admit your mistakes and move on. The workshop piss taking is getting better, the rest of the mob are getting more relaxed with the situation, keep it up. I like the variation in the content of the videos.
I would say it was very enjoyable. It started to get a little bit if Dull is the right word if not I apologise but was so funny when Rick got his knickers in a twist with the shaft did make me laugh a lot but at least he admitted his mistake with others would not like to admit.
Look forward to part two 😉
very good, fair play for showing the easy way to do the thing ( dont want to spoiler it) i was surprised how easy the bearing came off and now i know why.
Your absolutely correct guy's, don't do the clean professional vids, keep them working man clean with abit realism 😊
Awsome to even the best point out there mistakes and own it ! That's why your are the best ! Love ya channel !! Awsome long vlogs !
Great video Ricky, always happy to see more bike content, if anyone wants more details on squirters I have a back catalogue that quite detailed.
Keep doing what you're doing. Your enthusiasm for cars and bikes shows and most importantly authenticity. You can save a few quid on the ADHD diagnosis this were in the same boat 😂
Like the bike building brilliant how you take things apart put it in your table then put it back together fair play
Engine Room looks awesome 😎
The new cbr600rr sound fecking crisp on the pipe! Sounded unreal at the tt
Valve lash? I’m sure it’s shim under bucket, like to see it done especially with the size of the cam caps. Really enjoyed the video. You are more likely too young to remember early Honda commercials but “ You meet the nicest people on a Honda “
just epic!!!! 1-30 of bike build
Face book says Brad Perie will be on R&R bike next year. Hope T J Toms is the second rider for Dan Cooper. At least we would have a southern based team. Best vid for ages Rik, so informative
TJ is on a Kwak mate!
Sam from Seen Through Glass was bigging up your Skoda on his podcast btw 😃
Watched you strip that gearbox, then the bearing slipped off and i thought instantly i wonder if you took the bearing off would the stack come out 😂
Yep! 😂😂
@@REPerformanceUK steve putts mechanic here 🙋🏽♂️ watch your stuff all the time nice work
Loving these long videos
Nice to see Kate trying to add some decorum. Keep well guys.
Would the oil that was drained from the brand new engine be different to the oil used on the 1st service?
Cam from another channel. You fixed the Lambo fans 🐐
Interesting stuff enjoyed it 😎
Don’t know who as the patent on the slipper clutch. But you will see the identical setup on a new Busa and on all the Harley M8’s. Must work 😃
Great video shows your skill opening up a new engine and working it out apart from the gear shaft. I can’t stand Hondas either I had a CB125 twin back in the eighties and it was useless. Never owned one since.
shots fired!!! brutal
I just got in from ze pub - watched this - my poor little smooth brain is blown away. I'm a Suzuki Slut, yet I had no idea of the inny bits, until they become outey bits 😆 This explains why my '89 750 is stuck in 3 n half gear.
"I can can see clearly, now the fun is gaawn...."
That looks very similar to an early R6 motor.
Also, very methodical strip down, I try and teach engineering apprentices to be like this within their line of work.
Great video Ricky more like this, give me a 2stroke any day to strip. Did you see my comment about getting some proper lifting strops
great job lad as always get it rebuilt next video please
Genius, nowt else to say 🤯🤯🤯
To be fair Ricky, Honda were very much at the front of the grid with Marc Marquez, Mick Doohan and Rossi for many many years. Yes they’re struggling now but they will be back.
Stoner Hayden?
@@subaruwrx3381 absolutely. I only picked the above for their longevity.
Enjoyed that, looking forward to the rebuild....even if it is a Honda 😄
Good video, out of interest who makes those stainless benches? They look a bit more sturdy than most that are about.
Love the vid but you need a light in the camera.
Would like to see a side by side comparison of the two cylinder heads to see the differences between the stock head and the HRC head.
Obsession Engineering are running cbr600 this year in BSS, that's the team what run Franco Bourne last year in BSB. On RUclips
How different are the rings, better material?
Just curious, why wooden counter tops in the engine room instead of stainless steel?
Re your previous comment about the only thing Honda engine's are good for is running your tyre warmers . Found it hilarious that the second box of goodies were in a Honda generator box
Probably the best engine builder in the UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🖤 Tom wiggle 2nd best 🖤
No where near mate!! The best engine builders in the country are the old boys in their sheds not talking to idiots like me! 😂😂
I love a bit of bike content.
Happy days mate, I'm a Ducati fan...so no worries. I could ride a Honda, if I wanted to eat dust...
In fairness rick. RE gearshaft, you had anticipated having to press the shaft bearing off so probably didnt think that removing the shaft with gears in place was possible.
Does having the smaller hole in the casting which you can’t get the gear through make the casting stronger? That’s the only reason I can think of for designing it like that.
Interesting for me to watch, but I can see why it's a chew on for somebody who hates them to begin with. You're really good at it though.
Hi Ricky sent to watch your channel by Matt A 👍
Thank you.
Very Interesting video :)
Re: your "Smeg" comment we used to have a dog called Smeg and being as we live in Singapore the locals didn't have a clue and would be all "lovely Smeg" the ex pats had a chuckle over it and my warped sense of humour 😃. Personally a bit more bike stuff but I do realise you are perdominantly a "car" engine channel
Ricky - as ever superb content butttttt. I know its a workshop atmosphere etc etc etc but the effs are increasing a bit too much. Just my 'umble opinion.
Mmm HRC Shiny shiny things👍🏻👍🏻
quality upload guys . would love to know the cost of that little lot
Great content
At last, a proper engine rebuild 😎😉
Always subscribed to the old adage 'Abscess makes the fart go Honda'
I have the same problem with Toyota and Subaru 😂😂😂 and I am only DIY you deserve ever penny😊
Great to see some more bike engine stuff, Honda need to take a leaf out of Suzuki’s book, Gsxr 1000 cassette gearbox around 6 minutes to remove, i can’t imagine having to do all that work just to replace a bent fork/stripped gear 😩
2:32 noted😂😂
I started riding bikes in the 70s. Ricky have you ever been on a 2 stroke bike?
Will you address the factory scuff thing before you will put new piston rings in the cylinder or the scuffs will not be a problem? 😁
Yeah that looked concerning. Why would it be scuffed without having ever been run?
Very nice Video :) Is there an R1 RN65 Engine Vid Like this? 🎉
Mate totally get the cup of tea situation. Nothing worthwhile happens in the UK unless there is a cup of tea involved.
Ricky, Can you help Peter Bjorck… he has been broken into and had his Volvo Gallardo Dobson gear box stolen along with his Snapon Tools tools among other things… he has had it rough for a while and suffered mentally… might be good to reach out if you have any parts or other help to get him back on track. 👍
Man the knowledge Ricky has is insane making me feel like ave wasted my life lol
nothing wrong with Honda's more that its a baby 600. Id love to see you build and upgrade a VFR1200f engine and find out what could be done to a now 15+ year old engine that really didn't see much modification because it was put into a grandads sports tourer.
Awesome 😎
Wonder why the bore was scored like that?
I know the likely answer, but have you ever done anything with the old skool A-Series mini engines? Yes, they're 40's tech, but they do have somewhat legendary status...
Fantasic build 😂😂😂
do any cars have slipper clutches?
When is Dav going to be ready to rebuild an engine?
Owdo Ricky, when u at Oulton Park this year?
Question: why do they use cooper washers?
Because it's a soft metal and conforms to the mating surface, giving a good seal.
@ cheers for that.
Parents would sensor this, for the young ones, Just saying, as you are showing a skill which is one of the best academic for a good life 🙂
We need more Kate in the videos ricky behaves 😂😂
Loving more kate lol 😆
My brother runs a workshop and this is exactly what it's like. Banter for days 😅
It used to be called a selector drum
How much is the kit Ricky?
Dunno whats funnier. Mr yamaha Ricky having to build a motor desigmed by the great H, or him quoting Days Of Thunder.
Shifter external support bearing is called an outrigger, in the world of proper bikes anyway aka a Norton 😉
It didn't look like the exhaust camshaft had ground surfaces on the lobes? Or is that me being a numpty
Entertaining as always Ricky, we all know how much you (Fuckin) hate Honda's, yes Yamaha do gearbox assembly a tad different, but there's more than one way to skin a cat, give it a bit more thought, you'll see the shaft end bearing slides off the shaft end 1st then the complete assembled shaft & gears are withdrawn thru the inside, no need to strip or assemble the shaft/gears how you've shown.
Keep up the good work.
Hi Kate, I'd love to see Honda on. The best tea 🍵 is Irish Breakfast Barry's Tea 🍵. And you have to have fingers 😋 too. LOL
Love it
