    Blown away. I'm a carpenter so I do a lot of scribing and templating but I have never seen that technique before. Even the details in the bends. Very impressed.

    Your spatial intelligence is exceptional. I really struggle with that. I'm using pipe strapping for mine and it is not as strong. So I'm considering shaping it to the ceiling but only asking it to hold up a 3 - 5" valance. Then I'll string up the remainder of the curtain fabric on a rope or bungee just straight across. Wish me luck! I need stealth blackout, not just privacy so my curtains will be heavy.

    Oh excellent! So clear, concise, and easy to follow. Admittedly I had a similar idea for "bendy metal" to follow the contour, but I really had no idea where to start or what to call it. Thank you!

    You could glue on a layer on the topside to stiffen it - 1/8" plywood maybe - about 3ft long. That would make it a lot stronger.

    • @averysmallcampervan

      I kept my eyes peeled till I came across a construction site where some was discarded.
      You could ask at big lumber yards, they might receive stuff tied with it.
      It's one of those tricky things - free if you find it or else impossible to buy

    • @averysmallcampervan
      @averysmallcampervan  2 года назад +1

      I found mine outside a construction site but you could try asking at lumber yards if they have any that they took off a load of wood. You can't really buy it new as it is not sold in small quantities.

    Hi I am getting my van up to snuff to go camping when the temp is cooler.
    I am interested in the curtain pattern pdf. you mentioned above. (I too have a dodge caravan.) How might I get this pattern? That's my next step in my DIY
    I also have a question - is there a reason you used the small circular magnets rather than a magnet strip to hold the curtain to the metal strip?
    Thanks again for any help you can give me.

    • @averysmallcampervan
      @averysmallcampervan  4 года назад +2

      Gee, you are the first one to ask about the pdf since the video was published - I'll have to check where I put it and will get back to you.
      I used the small magnets, because they are stronger than the strip magnets. If fact, I did you strip magnets on my front window project and now have to redo it because the magnets lost almost all of their strength over the winter somehow. I don't recommend.

    • @judymarrinan4811
      @judymarrinan4811 4 года назад

      a very small camper van Thanks! I thought that might be the case with the magnets. That helps. If you can find the pdf. Great. If not I understand. It’s been awhile.

    What size metal strapping did you use ? Where did you purchase it ?
    ie. Gauge of strapling, width, approximate length

    • @averysmallcampervan
      @averysmallcampervan  4 года назад

      The strapping was 3/4 in wide, I'm not sure of the gauge. You would need a bit more than the width of the van...
      I am not sure where you would buy it in small quantities, I found mine outside a construction site, but you could try asking at lumberyards, they probably get shipments with that kind of strapping and might save some for you.
      Hope that helps.

    • @averysmallcampervan
      @averysmallcampervan  3 года назад +2

      Hi Just saw this, it was lost in the comments - sadly the perforated strapping is not the same thing. It is much bendier and doesn't have the same springy quality.
      The best bet is to ask around big lumber yards or metal dealer and see if they will give you some.
