It will be interesting to see these new camera placements in action.

Hi Bob. Yes, like the Mirror, they need a bit of tweaking over the first few videos but I think I get it sorted in the end. I can easily use the hand camera on this boat so that gives me a lot of flexibility. I also fit the 360 Cam soon!

I built my own rudder and tiller for my mad max boat, and no way was gonna pay the cost of that extension, so I drilled holes and used cordage, it works great, is tough, and easy to replace. And the wife doesn't look at me sideways!

Good advice, I agree on the cost of the extension, that's why I also keep prices to myself (and my RUclips subscribers of course!!!).
Seriously though, if there's 1 thing I regret buying it's the tiller extension. It's so weak and thin compared to the rest of the boat and you'll find out soo, I get a bit miffed with it!!!

@@SailingWithDave I had shopped for one on Amazon before your video, they were asking about 184.00$ for one. Then I saw on a photo of a nice DIY build making a thicker handle and using nylon rope. Looks and works great!

@@brucefrye2292 Yes definitely worth a DIY job at that price!!

Look at Boat Rambler, got a wicked mount for his camera. Dunno how it works or what/ how its attached but the support pole is invisible on the resulting footage. Really cool.
Reckon camera mounts anywhere aft of the forestay and ahead of the mast are likely to get a sheet underneath and plink! ... Splash...

There are some cameras that can remove the stick now. I actually bought the new DJI Action 3 that can do it with the built in software they provide. BTW its a far better camera than GoPro!!
I just checked the Boat Rambler channel out and I think he's got a 360 camera on the front of the boat as thats how he's able to choose camera angles from it, but the quality is pretty good. You don't get that kind of quality form a GoPro 360 Max. So he's got something expensive on the end of that stick. I will ask him!!

The furling fitting isn't up to standard. The top should have a thrust bearing to take some load. You could invest in an aeroluff spar but.......

Also, if it won't unfurl under load there's a possibility the reverse will be true and the way out of that in an emergency is to let the jib fly and subsequently shred itself. Check out the video by rigging doctor on the subject of hanked on headsails. Very interesting 🙂

I agree, I htink the oiling made a bit of a difference but keep watching as this story isn't over yet!!!

Further to previous comment, your top swivel on the jib is not for furlers. Trim came with the proper Ronstan furler swivel and it has not even looked like jamming even under ‘winched’ halyard tension. Thanks for video update btw. Josh
