I remembered the visual of this ending from when I played DoA3 as a kid, but it wasn’t until I rewatched it as an adult that I understood the ending to seemingly only work on a second level. At surface level it’s shows Brad renouncing drinking, but I think the idea wasn’t that he was a drinker. Brad only drank to sustain the drunken fist fight style. So he isn’t an addict sobering up. He drank and fought out of necessity. Never out of leisure. Once he defeats the ultimate antagonist, he doesn’t have to keep doing what he doesn’t enjoy. Which is fighting. I assume that was the concrete intention behind this visual and not so much the drinking. Either way, such an amazing visual! The artists who made this ending knocked it out of the park. Beautiful music as well. Great game.
