Again Caron as well as soul ll soul deserve so much more respect in the music industry with other black musicians & singers, songwriter’s from that era like Omar, mica Paris & loose ends & more.
All of those artists are definitely underrated, but if I may, Omar is TRULY, unbelievably underrated…The amount of classic, timeless albums/music that he has released and for him not to get the recognition he deserves is tragic..Omar is your favorite “Neo Soul’s” artist, favorite artist.
I met her before back in 1991 at the African Street Festival in Brooklyn New York. Her locs were down to her ankles, and she was so nice to me , my sister, and cousin. I will never forget that. She asked us our names, man she was so beautiful!
I spoke to her when she had her Facebook page and she is so engaging, regular acting and down to earth and I love her shining confidence about herself and her pro-black disposition. Its painful how she is not as big as she is.
Soul ll Soul should have won a number of awards ,simply because they blew up in the UK,and also in the US I’d say worldwide as well. They helped other artists who came after them too, their album was one of the biggest hits of that year in case people don’t know. Her singles “Living in the Light”,”I adore you”from the Mo Money Soundtrack were all great tracks as well as others.
I remember when Soul II Soul first came out. Merging British R&B with the tribal African percussions was something that I’ve never heard before at that time. Then adding the outstanding of vocals of Caron Wheeler was just mind blowing. My aunt was a big fan and bought all of those albums!!!!
I'm glad Caron is back with Soul 2 Soul. All of their songs and "living in the Light" was my whole college years. I had no idea she had 2 more albums released n the early 90s!!
Another great video. I never knew she sung in Brown Sugar. That means she was a pioneer to establishing British lovers Rock and integral to the song Keep On Moving as she wrote it. Shame the British do not recognise their own Black Stars of which they are many stemming from out of Jamaica and other Caribbean Islands.
Caron Wheeler, best known as the voice of reason behind Soul II Soul's classic tracks Keep on Movin', and Back To Life, and her solo tracks Livin' in the Light, I Adore You, and In Our Love.
I love your channel SO MUCH! As an American, when I was in my teens, I loved listening to British R&B / pop music and Reggae music in the 80s!!!!! I remember seeing Claudia Fontaine in music videos. She was in practically everything. OMG and I never realized until now that I was also seeing a pre-Soul II Soul Caron Wheeler in many of the British music videos from the 1980s.
Big up to Capricorns and great Black British Soul my childhood heroes. Living in N.Y. I heard loose ends Soul II Soul The Pasadenas Mica Paris just to name a few nuff respect to Caribbean British our people are scattered around the world and multi talented👏👏👏🎶🎶
Thank you! ❤ Me and my Sisters have been into here our entire lives!!! Caron is A LEGENDARY ICON to our family! I Adore You ha been passed down to our children! We sing her EVERY OPPORTUNITY especially when we get together and harmonize!!
While I was looking at your video I pulled out my vinyls of Soul ll Soul. I have all of them and the 12 in singles. That was the soundtrack of my teens. The first time I heard the intro for Keep on Movin' I had goosebumps. Never heard anything like that. The music was amazing in the nineties.
Light as a feather. One of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. It has all the emotions of the struggles of black folk worldwide. She is a goddess.
This brings tears to my eyes. I guess bcuz I was a teenager during the time Soul to Soul came out here in the states. I loved Caron's voice, it was a whole vibe and it was the vibe of my life in the 90s.
I love/miss Caron-never knew her back story. Thanks for the song snippets and marking specific people. My only wish would be that the narrator slow down a bit.
Hi I was tagged in this video on Facebook earlier this morning, watched it and was very impressed with the presentation. I was further humbled to have our Soul Survivors Magazine issue 41 from Aug 2012 credited and featured several times in this almost 24 minutes documentation, so big thanks..I'm glad the 'info provider for the soul survivors' was deemed useful. Excellent job..I learned a thing or two too!!
Thank you for the video! I haven't even watched it yet. I already know I am going to thoroughly enjoy it. This woman's voice was EVERYTHING to me as a young lady in 1988 AND going forward!! Loved Soul to Soul with Jazzy B🎤🎶🎵🎶🎵🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
They made their mark in the US with their soulful music!! I know I really enjoyed their music, that album they released back in the late 80s. Caron can sing!!!
First saw and noticed her on Elvis Costello video "Every day I write the book" when I was teen, been in love with her since, surprised when I saw her soul II soul, she's still hot and can sang, great interview
Don’t quit was absolutely exquisite. Dang I loved Caron. Had both of her LPs. The sleeve of the CD had recommendations of books to read….that was the start of my journey learning about my history 😍
I do remember Caron Wheeler in the soul ll soul group back in the late 1980s and do have her first solo album UK Blak which l bought back in the early 1990s. I haven't played the LP for years you don't really seem to hear from her now.
Thought You Would Have Expressed The Song “Back To Life” (How Ever Do You Want Me) Featured In The Opening Scene Of The 1998 Movie Belly. But Great Job On This Documentary.
Excellent job on this story. "Keep On Movin' sounded perfect. I can't imagine it as a disco song. I'm glad Caron insisted on making it more of a positive slow jam. It's ironic how tiny decisions can impact the rest of your life.
I toured with Alexander ONeal in the UK.. I loved the Artists bc they are ETHICAL. Unlike Americans. Alex is an exception. A beautiful man who the American music industry didn't appreciate. The UK still loves him. He still lives there.
Whooooop! Another ace little music vid Sephsaysso! 🙌🏾 So much cool info learnt 😉. I didn’t know Caron sang with so many artists. I can’t believe the Phil Collins gig she missed out on. It’s not just the money she missed, but Phil is a really good musician and loves and understands music, she would have loved working with such a passionate and knowledgeable musician like him. She should look him up I reckon. He’s always doing some kind of interesting music project. Haha, ‘ark at me, I talk like an know the dude ☺. Thanks again for a fab, fun music vid 🤗
Thank you so much 😊 and no worries at all! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and learnt something new too 🤗 I agree, it would've been amazing to see Caron Wheeler and Phil Collins work together. Imagine the music we would've gotten from them omg!! 🥰
I loved keep on moving when l.was a kid... l love British black artist love from America 🇺🇸 l have the soul of urban London sdtk🇬🇧💝 it blows my mind how the accent disappears as they sing
Awesome video. Thank nso much for the great video. You officially have the best and most well researched work on Caron Wheeler that is out there. Excellent research. Now if we can just get her to speak and fill in some blanks, it would be great!
I didn’t see Caron do soul II soul in 2022. The biggest gig they did that year was royal Albert hall. Charlotte Kelly stood in for Caron. This year same again. Last time I saw her in soul II soul was 2016 in a very small private gig in london. Miss her so much from that band
I was lucky to meet Caron Wheeler a few years ago and hang out backstage with her and Jazzy B, she is so lovely. Please do videos on Shara Nelson, Carleen Anderson and Jhelisa.
I am glad they got back together. Karen's manager knew them getting back together would always bring in money because people want to see the original artists always. I wish EnVouge could figure this out.
Excellent summary. Keep On Movin is one of my number 1 songs of all time, and I didn't know Caren Wheeler was responsible for it's production, aside from providing beautiful, soulful, Truth laden vocals. But on another note, I just love how how her impotent label EMI attempted to package her as a prostitute on the cover of In Our Love in a desperate attempt to boost sales. These industry games are so predictable.
I absolutely adore Caron's work - in particular - UK Blak - Amazing!! Her voice is like (vegan) chocolate dessert .... I'm gonna listen to 'Free Nelson Mandela' - now I know her voice is on the track ... plus I always liked THAT particular chorus .... Caron has such a beautiful sound!! Go-Caron!
Again Caron as well as soul ll soul deserve so much more respect in the music industry with other black musicians & singers, songwriter’s from that era like Omar, mica Paris & loose ends & more.

Definitely ahead of his/their time.
I met her before back in 1991 at the African Street Festival in Brooklyn New York. Her locs were down to her ankles, and she was so nice to me , my sister, and cousin. I will never forget that. She asked us our names, man she was so beautiful!

Her singles “Living in the Light”,”I adore you”from the Mo Money Soundtrack were all great tracks as well as others.
Plus to this day you can hardly enter a grocery store without hearing one of their songs.
I was TOTALLY Obsessed with Sol II Sol in tha 90s - they're STILL in rotation in my playlist!!! 🤩 Caron's voice is Heaven to me!! 😍🥰🖤
*Soul*
I remember when Soul II Soul first came out. Merging British R&B with the tribal African percussions was something that I’ve never heard before at that time. Then adding the outstanding of vocals of Caron Wheeler was just mind blowing. My aunt was a big fan and bought all of those albums!!!!

Clear crisp voice!! She is so underrated! I miss their vibe! So much fun an soulful
Keep on moving and Back to life was among my favorite songs by Soul ll Soul. I see she had strong ties with my other favorite UK act Loose Ends.
I loooove loose ends and I'm American.
My pops used to bump loose ends back in the day
Caron Wheeler, best known as the voice of reason behind Soul II Soul's classic tracks Keep on Movin', and Back To Life, and her solo tracks Livin' in the Light, I Adore You, and In Our Love.
A strange enigma. She should have definitely had a few more solo albums. Gr8 video.
Yep totally agree, a few more solo albums would've been great! Thank you so much 😊
I've always loved Caron. Her tone of voice is like no other. Love her
I love, love, LOVE her voice! Keep on Movin’ is one of my favorite songs, & she’s a Capricorn like me 😊
♑ Capricorn gang ♑
Don't Give Up literally saved my family's life in the late 80s/early 90s. No exaggeration
I had the lucky fortune to meet this beautiful woman in person...& her voice at the beginning of the movie BELLY will forever be iconic
Yesss❤
Man, thank you
I totally forgot about I Adore You. Bout to bump that ish right now..
Caron Wheeler really has a beautifully distinctive and iconic voice. ❤ Thank u for this!
She just had that voice! I love this sister .
Oh gawd I loved her solo album. I had it as a teenager on cassette HAHAHAHA
I love your channel SO MUCH! As an American, when I was in my teens, I loved listening to British R&B / pop music and Reggae music in the 80s!!!!! I remember seeing Claudia Fontaine in music videos. Omg thank you so much 🥰 Also I'm so glad that you learnt something new about Caron Wheeler and Claudia Fontaine from the video 😊
I love her vocals! Thankyou!!

Best voice ever. That album defined my pre-teen years. I became obsessed with the Black U.K. The best songs on that album were the ones she sang.
Love Caron's voice, great video.😉😉😉😉
Thank you so much 😊

I need to check out that song, thanks.
I love and adore Caron Wheeler. She had an amazing voice, unique. Thank for that video and information. Love you Caron 😘
This is my Era. That sista has a dope voice and soul2soul kicked azz then, and still sounds good in 2023
"I Adore You" from Mo Money is my jam!!!!!!
Very well put together, thank you for paying homage to a black British treasure and icon. There story must be told. We appreciate you
Caron could go neck to neck w ANY of the RnB US divas of the day.
Her vibe, and the Soul II Soul vibe, is totally POSITIVE!!!
Caron Wheeler is one of my favorite singers. Her voice was smooth like butter.
I really liked Soul 2 Soul 👍🏻 This was interesting , I was unaware of this ladies life , she had a great voice .
It's crazy how some of her songs did well in the US and not the UK.
Not really.
Living In The Light!
This brings tears to my eyes. I guess bcuz I was a teenager during the time Soul to Soul came out here in the states. I loved Caron's voice, it was a whole vibe and it was the vibe of my life in the 90s.

Caron ran across my mind and I decided to search...Thanks for this! She still sounds like an angel
16:02 she was soo gorgeous her and Jane Eugene had the richest complexions both beautiful women.
A us tour is definitely needed
Very much the Queen🙌🏿. She should be listened too and talked about to any up and coming black music artist coming up today. RIP.
The most underrated artist EVER! I Still listen to both her solo albums! They are masterpieces!!

I love me some CARON WHEELER! ❤❤❤ Thank you for sharing this video. She is definitely underrated in my opinion.
🙋🏾♂️ I was stationed in Aschaffenberg Germany at the time of her career with Soul ll Soul. Great memories, music, and podcast as usual. 👌🏾

Thought You Would Have Expressed The Song “Back To Life” (How Ever Do You Want Me) Featured In The Opening Scene Of The 1998 Movie Belly. But Great Job On This Documentary.
Great content, didnt know about the lover's rock roots or her baking vox on many seminal 80s hit prior to S2S.
Thanks for the update on this great artist!
Excellent job on this story. "Keep On Movin' sounded perfect. I can't imagine it as a disco song. I'm glad Caron insisted on making it more of a positive slow jam. It's ironic how tiny decisions can impact the rest of your life.
