Very sanitary outcome there! Not sure on the Rx-4 trunk lid attachment, but my Rx-2's hinge part is factory spot-welded. Prior to me finding the OEM trunk seal, i used a universal seal. In doing so, it put stress on the spot-welds essentially having me weld them back in place. I too applied silicone for a good butting on the 2 ends, making it "air tight", thus extra tight upon closing the trunk. Ended up making pin-holes to exhaust the trapped air. Not sure if that might be the case w/ yours. But just a heads-up. Again, great looking outcome! 👍👍
Really nice work you did, thumbs up ! The rubber mat is it that made heat proof material ? Just asking because the one who lay in my RX-4 melted from the exhaust system heath 😁

It's the original mat, I'm guessing it is heat proof. The material is actually rubber....
