      Lissia J85, Absolutely. My Nanna made them when I was a kid and I always had soft, chewy, yummy, sweet Anzac biscuits in the house...we never ran out. I never ate a hard Anzac until I bought some from the supermarket...yuk, nearly put me off them for life. My Nanna's recipe was from 1914 and she was born in 1912 and she carried that recipe with her until she died in 2005 and now, somebody else has that recipe, what a shame.

    • @zalismith3734
      @zalismith3734 6 лет назад +2

    • @hughtorrance8819
      @hughtorrance8819 6 лет назад +7

      Gle Racing: The pavolas they ate were very light solid meringue. A proper pav has soft meringue in the middle with a crusty outer shell. These are easy to buy in the supermarket as a base on which you can add anything you desire. The fluffy cream is on top or piped onto the sides, not the middle.

    • @xddeagan6107

  • @jl4260
    @jl4260 6 лет назад +49

    Real deal Pavlova with the fresh soft spongey meringue and thin harder outer casing with the peaks of sweet whipped cream and lashings of passionfruit ugh it’s the best. Their minds would have been blown if they tried that haha. Also, traditional fairy bread is better than the Nutella version. The spread is supposed to be somewhat flavorless so the rainbow sprinkles shine. Good snacks though!

      ismit32, when you say LIKE 20 seconds, do you mean something similar to 20 second like, 19 or 21 seconds, or did you forget the " i " between " for " and " like " and your just a really big fan of 20 seconds. Or, did you just mean, 20 seconds?

    • @MagnusBellatorr
      @MagnusBellatorr 6 лет назад +1

      SlingshotDingo If you read it in context of the of the sentence and understand the modern usage of the word by younger generations; "for like 20 seconds" is being used as "for somewhere around 20 seconds". I hope this helps clear up your difficulties understanding the use of the word in the future.

    Also in case you wanted to know I think the pavolva is named after a ballerina (But I don't remember that well so I'm probably wrong)

    • @Amaryllis237
      @Amaryllis237 6 лет назад

      Yes, Pavlolva was created to honour a Russian ballerina, Anna Pavlova, who visited both Australia and New Zealand on tours in the 1920s (why there is a debate on who created it)

    • @tellysharpe8255
      @tellysharpe8255 6 лет назад

      It was made first in New Zealand.
      But not many people realise that or even realise that it was made by an Russian. To be frank it technically neither Australian or New Zealand’s, but I think we debate over it because we all like to believe it’s ours and not there’s.

    Milo - Mix a teaspoon of hot water with milo (to desolve it) in a glass then add cold milk or hot milk. Better with cold milk in summer

    • @sophiev8883
      @sophiev8883 6 лет назад

      Hi Sophie - Excellent point about the quantity of milo but I was concentration on explaining how to desolve the milo first otherwise it does not mix with the cold milk and floats on top.
      Incidentally I live 2 km from were Vegemite was invented in a small factory (now 1930's era flats) in Kerferd Rd, Albert Park, Victoria, Australia. There is a small bolder monument to it in the wide median strip in Kerferd Rd.

      Richard, Luckily, in the background, after she popped up a picture of the bridge in Sydney., an older lady stated the true origins of the Anzac but was RUDELY INTERRUPTED, in true American style, by that curly haired brunette sheila whilst the other two were trying to listen. Another failed history lesson to America.

      Kate Marra: It's quite possible Australia copied the Pavlova from NZ, after all we have adopted a hell of a lot of other NZ products and people, but the reality is that there has to a news article, photograph, something which says that X enjoyed a creation that was made in honour of Y after Y danced at the Z on the (insert date here). The new dessert was admired and enjoyed by all. And passionfruit pulp is a relatively new thing for pavs which only used to have well drained fruit salad, because the only passionfruits used to grow on vines in the back yard - lol. Not available in tins from around where I was.
