Fatgum sounds like my favorite kind of heroic character. No tragic past, no overarching goal. They're just out there helping people because they like doing it.
That's the majority of the cast though. Even Deku's "tragic past" is just being born without a quirk. Unless his dad was killed by All For One or something.

Horikoshi really has a talent on introducing new characters, Fat Gum, Hawks, Overhaul, Big Three, Inasa, they all showed up relatively late in the series, some were even just side characters for a certain arc, but everyone loves them and you can find hundreds of fan art of them even till this day
you also have to take into consideration just how diverse his character designs are. Noone looks similair in any major way and you can immediatly recognize a character after seeing them just once because of that without ever getting anyone confused.
The Treacherous Leech I think it isn‘t a big surprise that Horikoshi is able to do this, since he‘s the guy that came up with an explosive dandelion, an edgy bird shadow monster and an evil potato. Ok - no hate on Bakugo and Tokoyami. (But All For One will always be a potato in my eyes) Still, props to Horikoshi!
At first, I wondered why Momo wasn‘t Fatgum‘s intern compared to Kirishima. Now, I understand better, as Kirishima works as the „shield“ of the team. Thank you Meti for clarifying.
He's no All Might or Endeavor but I consider Fat Gum a true gem. Fat Gum is the genuine everyday good person who happens to be a hero and is good at it. I think within the MHA universe and in our universe, we need more people like Fat Gum.

I was surprised to see what a great character he actually is. When I first saw him in the Manga I thought he was just going to be a joke character like "hey, look at the fat guy. he looks real silly" but now he has become one of my favourite characters.
Wanna know something? It is a real life quirk, haha. It's not as pronounced as his power, but you can come close! I myself lost 67lbs and throughout it all, I was always reminded of Fatgum. I'm even going to order myself a Fatgum hoodie to celebrate. Now I eat anything I like and I lose it pretty quickly too. Just yesterday I lost 3lbs in 24 hours.

I have this thing where I always catch meti videos within the hour they are posted. Its like your my fated RUclipsr. I loved fatgum since the chapter he debuted, his designed reminded me of a *LONGK* kirby.
I got the impression you think ''FitGum'' is an attack form, but it's not, that state is simply when he loses all/most of his fat after releasing the kinetic energy stored. After that he's just a normal dude that has to eat to get back his fat quickly, which, fun fact, it seems that thanks to his Quirk he's able to regain it very quickly in a matter of days as long as he eats a lot.
he actually doesn't regain it in a matter of days - in an omake it was shown that following burning up all his fat it took him a full 4 months to go back to the size he was prior to burning up all (well most of, since the body needs around like 15% min to survive and not get heart disease lol) his fat. for most of that time he wouldn't be able to go back to doing hero work so it becomes really a last resort kind of attack against a heavily offensive foe
Mr Bishop no you do not lmao - some of the lowest levels of body fat that people have achieved has been like 3%. You can search for bodybuilders w that amount of body fat and you can see the striations in their muscle tissue. Your body would have broken down and died long before you ever got to that number

That rappa fight was my favorite. Why. Favorite Boy and girl characters are now shipped. Favorite pro hero turns out to be even more of a badass then expected. Kirishima is actually more relatable to me then any other character. "If it breaks, harden again!"
Fat gum really stuck with my while watching that series. He always stood true to his character and his past. I loved how while fighting rappa he could still breakdown the situation perfectly and counter attack

Fat Gum is one of my favorite heroes. Aizawa is my other favorite, but in the manga the whole arch which will be next seasons plot is my absolute favorite plot so far in bnha. I can't wait to see Fat Gum animated and voiced both in Japanese and English.

I can only recall seeing JoJo and MHA episodes, and I think one about Shimoneta: A World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist, and I mean actually about it, and why its story is relevant jn Japan. Maybe that was an Episode of the RUclipsr Aki… I have crappy memory… Anyway… MNtBG is a great RUclipsr. It just works. Keep up the awesome work.
Picked up on this series late, but the very first thing that I thought of when seeing the Fatgum reveal was Bob & Slim Bob from Tekken Tag Tournament 2. It's an eerie resemblance.
I just love that he is a hero even with his size. As an overweight person this makes me very happy but I wish there were more overweight and great written characters.
Would love to see a video on Rappa of the 8 Precepts. I can't put into words why i love his character as a villain so much, and i don't know if his quirk is ever mentioned/explained, but i think he'd make a good video
