To sum things up:
We are in a meta where Scavenging Hyena Unleash combo is being played.
Stonetusk Boar and Novice Engineer are staples of a top tier deck, in which Vanish is an acceptable choice.
Priests are running Ancient Watchers, Divine Spirits and Inner Fires to good results.
A deck in which half the cards are taunt minions is not a gimmick and is highly competitive.
And Druids run murlocs for some reason.

TBF Taunt druid was a viable deck back in the naxx era. You would win the control matchup with ramping out your big guys before opponent had answers and won the aggro by your big guys also being taunts
Divine Spirit Inner Fire was very viable during beta as well, I just think it's funny how these deck come back seemingly out of nowhere from complete troll deck in one expansion to top meta picks in the very next.

y'know I'm really surprised this set didn't have a Neutral that was like, if your opponent has an active quest, gain +1 attack/health or something along those lines.

Infest is also pretty good, epecially with the deathrattle package (trading your giant rat then infesting 5 minions feels pretty good). There's more variance, but most beasts are at least decently-priced mid-size bodies.

In your first game, it's so easy to see how ridiculous Crackling Razormaw is. It made a 1 mana card basically trade up with a sticky 2 mana card. Terrorscale stalker also looked great with Highmane.

Eh, I guess you could. It's just too low-impact really. Once you get above a certain cost, cards need to have a powerful immediate effect to be worth playing. Pure value's not enough. e.g. a 10 mana 20-20 with no text would still be shit.

Yeah but that rarely ever matters as hunter. As people always say, health is a resource. With a deck so minion heavy, if you're not controlling the board you've already lost.

I agree with your opinion about fiery bat not being great at the moment. There are so many 1/1s in the meta right now that I don't think it's as impactful as it could be. In fact, I cut all but mccaw and alleycat in my personal version. Good for you for trying the deathrattle theme. I tried to achieve it but I found I sacrificed too many good cards to ever put it in, so I opted out. But I appreciate that at least someone is trying.

I really don't like this version Trump is playing but Midrange Hunter has been the best performing deck for me on the ladder. Handlock and Midrange Hunter back in the meta, what a time to be alive!
I just beat handlock 3 times as burgle plant rogue by turning into Jaraxxus then he ran out of steam of removals (lmao)

I've played this deck a lot at highish ranks and cards that are good are:
Direwolf alpha
houndmaser
rat pack (this card is amazing)
one copy of zipgunner
scavenging hyena plus unleash the hounds
one copy of dinomancy (don't keep in opening hand and never play on turn two)
grievous bite
Cards that seem a little weak:
ravasaur runt
kindly grandmother
This is just an opinion but I think these changes are good and really fun

I really think quest rogue is toxic to the meta, basically if your deck isn't made to try to counter them with taunts or board clears then you just lose to 20 damage from charge...
I dusted 4 legendaries for that quest ( worth it )

You're right for the wrong reasons. It's pretty easy to face them down unless they get a dream hand. The problem with Quest Rogue is conceptual. There are at least two decks, Quest Druid and Quest Hunter, that require the meta to slow down for them to be competitive. Quest Rogue stops them from slowing down because control decks will die to it without taunts. So these decks will never be competitive so long as Quest Rogue is being played. It's just like how Jade Idol killed control.
Merrick you're right, Quest Rogue is a lot like Jade Druid... a solidly tier 3 deck that can sometimes win or lose in blowout fashion that gets crucified by the community despite not actually being very strong or meta dominant in practice.
I wouldn't say they are *that* similar. Just conceptually the deck archetypes make it very hard to play other decks and they are competitive enough at all times to deter those decks.

with this deck you have mostly between 4 to 7 minions on the board. and you don't have that much card draw.

After his recent uploads, I've been rewatching some older Trump videos to see if Hearthstone was actually better back in the day.
After seeing a Rogue play Hallucination into Grimestreet Informant into Lay on Hands, I think the answer is no.
At 23:43 shouldn't it be 1 Bittertide Hydra removed and 2 Golakka Crawlers added instead of only 1?
Is there really fewer Crystal Caverns Rogues out there and if so is it because someone accually found something that beat them consistently or is it because people realized boring they were to use + play against?

I have the feeling that the quest Rogue will probably get nerfed, but knowing Blizzard they'll nerf them to 4/4s and require 5 of the same, making it too weak and it fades into obscurity.

Kai-Xuan Yao I saw alot of them at rank 10 above they either play silence with buffs or it is the quest priest. He also rated rogue quest as a one star card but I mean the deck took everyone by storm so yeah we can't have right every time.
Do you realize that the person currently at rank 1 legend is keeping himself at the position playing a silence priest right?

Both silence priest and dragon priest are highly competitive, mostly due to their ability to create enough pressure to bully quest rogues and efficient spells that crush hunters every time
It's still way early to say which class is dominant. Right after MSoG was released Reno-dragon priest saw a lot of play, but we know how that turned out right? People sarcastically saying _1 star_ stuff are just being judgemental, and is one of those stuff where they want to see someone popular fall to grace, probably because they lack something in their life.
But yeah, it does seem Trump underestimated some of priest cards. Radiant Elemental is strictly a better Sorceress Apprentice. Shadow Vision, though I predicted it will be hella annoying, didn't think it would used to fish out spells in silence priest deck. Trump did predict Humongous Razorleaf is one of the best card released in this expansion, but he only thought of the use in handlock, not in silence priest.

I like this deck, it's actually pretty good against quest rouge. I'd like to see some more mid range hunter in the META.
This deck has been fairing well to me but I have a few questions. I unfortunately don't have bittertide hydra so I was wondering what cards that I could replace them with, preferably if is rare or lower? Currently I have 2 stranglehorn tigers as a replacement which seems to not be that bad but I just wonder what other(s) peoples recommendations would be. Lastly I luckily do have swamp king dred, but I am unsure if it's a right pick for this deck. Should I keep it or no?

I've actually been having some very good success with a low tier secret hunter recently. Really screws up everyone's cycles and plays.
How do you play bittertides right? It always puts me in a really bad spot when I play it, especially against mage and aggro.
I feel like the only reason midrange is better than quest right now is because quest is a lot slower and takes many more turns to get full value. Carnassa at this point is basically a Hydra with a bunch of extra requirements. If the meta slows down, i think we'll see more quest hunters around.
...also i'm trying to justify the massive amount of disenchants I sacrificed to craft that quest. But it's still really fun.
That's kinda funny... One of the fastest decks in terms of mana curve is actually too slow in the meta. That's... Just insane.
It's such a weird archetype. It's aggro and control and midranged all mixed into one mess.

Midrange Hunter is so good, plus it feels good to smorc nubs. I used the Dinomancer recipe deck and my highest win streak with it is 7

so I have been climbing with my own take on midrange hunter, I found that the best combos for board clear or 20+ burst damage is running the hyena and the charge doggies. I remember seeing someone also run a cult master and tried that and found a lot of success because of either combining with charge dogs or with an already made board. I am not running the deathrattle package and am running a little bit of a budget version, but found success enough to hit rank 14 from 20 in about 2.5 hours. the issues I am dealing with are Jade druid if he pulls removal and quest rogue because balance. any thoughts or suggestions from Trump/viewers?

What makes the deck so disgusting is it can be teched to beat literally everything right now and the deck interaction is at an all time low. The one playing against it has essentially no say as to whether they'll get stomped or not.
It can complete the quest as early as turn 2. It currently has no weakness. I thought aggro would be the answer but if you get Prep-Fanned or they use they bounce the freezing elemental you're a goner, even as Pirate Warrior or Face Hunter. And then there's Prep Vanish...
It's the worst thing Blizzard has ever made. I have no idea how it got passed initial testing.

cfdj43 really really fucking slow for a midrange deck. midrange doesn't tend to have anything past 5-6 Mana

too slow at 9 mana, generally you won with it on 8. I don't like having more then 2/3 cards over 6 mana in my midrange hunter deck and I already run swamp king dred and double highmane.
Phatmonkey How is Swamp King Dred working for you? I got it from a Tomb Spider (wild) the other day, I played him turn 7 and it pretty much won me the game. I hit for 9 face and killed two minions with his passive ability, one of which was the 8/8 taunt from the priest quest. Do you think is a good card?

it's very powerful and you should run it in this deck, it lets your beast buffed and alive. don't disenchant it
What do you think about cutting animal companion for the 3 mana 4/2 buff deathrattles in your hand by 1/1?
not reliable, too slow. better yet another terrorscale hunter (trigger deathrattle)
I just noticed...I can't remember the last time a class legendary was included in a midrange Hunter deck. If anyone know better please correct me of course, but other than the occasional Krush yeeeears ago Hunters never run any of their Class Legendaries ._.
