Just got a 2023 Ninja 400, gonna change the oil on her pretty soon. This video gives me confidence to try it on my own, thank you
I’m glad to hear that!!! It’s super easy just don’t over tighten anything and make sure the oil it full and you should be good to go.

@@diploida it went perfectly! I've changed my oil twice since then. Been using Motul 7100, it has been a night and day difference over the stock oil.

small tip - before fitting the new oil filter, fill it with fresh oil and then fit it on to the bike.
That helps with instant oil circulation and protects the cylinders from any minor harm.
I would agree but it makes a mess with filters that are sideways…. Iv found it helps out with Diesel engines but not so much on gas. It’s a good practice that won’t hurt anything

She has a pretty helmet . Nice bike too mines 22’ krt green and pearl white I don’t know why they took the white accent off the 23’ too much green I need a cool paint job on my helmet

Hey man question I just got the new 500 and so I’ve heard people say to put a quart run it for a min then add the rest is that how I should do it or just add the full 2 and is it necessary to fill the oil filter or can I leave it dry
I would never ran an engine with “less” oil for a min just to add the right amount later.

Thanks for the information but regarding the rear brake fluid reservoir what should I be looking for just fluid or certain level of fluid? Purchasing one next year this will be my first bike and I wanna be hands on thanks again.
Good question. What I look for is damage to the reservoir and hose, level of fluid, color of fluid (milky color means water in the fluid) I look at the brake pads, I change my fluid once a year when I service the bikes the fluid will break down over time. Hope that helps out safe riding 🤙🏻

Yes always replace the filter
Also did you only actually put 2 quarts in? Looks perfectly full to me
If memory recall correctly I believe the bike calls for 2.1 quarts
Just got a 2021 myself 1300 miles never been serviced and has been sitting for a while how bad could that be
You should be fine I would think, it’s not like these bikes are rode in the dirt
Just hit my 500 mark other then the oil what should I do ( I'm not taking it to the shop bc they want to charge me 200$ for an oil change )
I’d check your chain tension and reoil your chain. Go over body bolts your checking that nothing has vibrate it loose. Tire pressure. Check your forks for leaking just do a once over on the bike everything should be ok but Iv seen new cars with missing bolts many times.

Why didn't you fill the filter with oil before putting it back on? Not saying you don't it wrong my dad has always done it that way and a few of my friends Dads they say it gets to oil flowing on startup so you don't run it dry?
On a filter that is upside down or horizontal it makes more of a mess than it’s worth, that said the filter on my truck I full but it designed in such a way that won’t run out as you’re trying to screw it back on. Good question
The manufacturer commands that the seal be lubricated with a touch of oil.
The reason for this is so a dry filter seal won't "roll up" while tightening which causes a leak.

@@Jdubbsotheradventure indeed it is, and the manufacturer wants to cover their butt in a warranty situation when the filter isn't installed properly and causes engine failure.
The instructions of all oil filters has this commandment somewhere on the packaging.

I used a Napa filter. I’m not near the bike today but any local Napa should be able to find it

Every 3-5000 miles after the first oil change

@@junioravila1269 first oil change is 600 miles, then 3000-5000 miles service intervals. Just to be clear that’s what he meant. Not 3 miles lol if you go 5000 miles on the oil that came with the bike your engine will be messed up
