What?!!! I can’t hear you!
You beat me to it.
I choose hearing loss over death any day for home defense
That's why you have a home defense weapon with a suppressor!
In a state where legal
Yep… time to move from Colorado.
Not everyone wants to pay an extra $200 and give up your rights..
Why would you want the FBI to know you have a suppressor?
I once lost my earplugs at the 240 range. I couldn't hear my alarm clock for a few days afterwards. The ringing has been consistent since. Wear ear protection folks whenever you can in training!
MRE napkins do not make good earplugs, grenade range.

That's double hearing protection range.
@@lelandgaunt9985 I tried cigarette butts! Haha.
@@thomasj3701 That's a "better than nothing at all" idea, but not by very much. The one time I tried it (putting down a "no hope" injured horse) my ears rang for about 3 days afterwards.
Yep, I’m almost completely deaf in my left ear..
Better Deaf Then Dead.
1:45 I don't want you to say, "uh can we take this outside; it's going to make a mess."
Suppressor's for the win!
Repeal the NFA
Yeah, hearing protection can mute sounds you might want to hear before you have to pull the trigger.
Great video! Thanks for all you post!

In the 60s in Vietnam you never got hearing protection even if you were firing off a 105 , let alone a rifle . Some of us have just about lost our hearing and some never will I guess. I flew medevac for a decade and I have zero high frequency hearing .
Welcome home brother.
3”/50 AA cannon, .50BMG, farm equipment, deck crawlers and needle guns.
Flying in CH-47 Chinook helicopters on multiple special missions w/o earpro can really fkup your hearing, too. US Army (retired) 1973-94
BEST video this guy has EVER done and it is MAGNIFICENT!
Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY
as a Viet Nam vet, I wonder how much I've lost. My main weapons were the m-16 and m-60. V.A. told me there is no loss but I hear whistles all the time.
Good thoughts, and realistic, Thank you
At that point, you might need to rely on sense of hearing to win the fight first so forget about ear protection and eye protection. Neutralize the threat first.
It's crucial to be prepared to defend yourself and your loved ones, but it's equally important to understand the legal and moral implications of using lethal force.
TY USCCA
Maybe threaten the intruder with hearing loss even if you miss...
Getting a new cell phone from Verizon:
“Can you hear me now?”
“What?”
I have test fired my .22lr revolver indoors to know how loud it would be. I think all the carpet and plush furniture help dampen it dispite being indoors. I have fired 9mm once, outdoors without hearing protection protection also to know what it actually sounds like in a real situation. Always be willing to test fire so that you will not be caught off guard by the sound.
.22lr seems a really great indoors round.
That’s crazy dangerous for your ears but I understand, also! You’re completely right! .22 is not only lower in decibels but it doesn’t wreck your house as bad
@@Starwolfe64 if anyone is trying to fire a round indoors, I did it into a bag of sand, with one of my steel plates I fire at under it so it wouldn't go through the floor.
Better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6
When I was a kid, I never used hearing protection. Ignorant for sure, but I survived and 50 years later I still hear fine.
The idea that one instance of self-defense is going to ruin your hearing is unlikely as he said it cumulative.
I already have the hearing aids, so I'll just turn them up. 😂
I've actually considered staging electronic muffs with my handgun at night.
@@DG-ie5ipYou _probably_ won't. But if it's a bump in the night with enough time to think, you might. A suppressor on a HD gun would provide a better chance of hearing protection, but even then both would be good.
@@DG-ie5ip right, which is why I decided not to.
I am deaf already from shooting under a tin roof when I was a Deputy Sheriff we were shooting 357 Magnums and 12 Ga. Shotguns and Patrol rifles without ear protection back in the mid 1970’s. So if I loose more no big deal.
Not worried about it
Louisiana just passed constitutional carry last Thursday. In the new governor promises to sign it into law.
Buy a silencer.
Don't forget your guard Hog.
I’m not worried about my hearing if I’ve got to use my gun in defense of my life or family’s life. I can live without hearing just fine.
When I bought My first handgun I had this thought. I actually went out to the river and shot a round or two with out hearing protection on just to get an idea of what to expect. It's ridiculously loud. I'm concerned with not being able to hear afterwards.
They studied deafness among Eskimos and observed that they wait around a hole in the ice and shoot a seal when it pops up for air. Ear pro... Wear em if you got em
I had a negligent discharge in my place. Police never were called. I went deaf for a few seconds. My hearing seemly returned. We’ll see later in life.
If shooting without hearing protection damages your ears. Why can't we sue the ATF for making suppressors NFA items? More important topic then this video
Yes. Great subject. Stay alive. Survive. Deal with the other stuff later.
Your body has the ability to protect your hearing to a certain extent. It's called auditory exclusion, and it happens in the event you have what's called an adrenaline dump. John Lovell did a pretty good video on it about 2 yrs ago.
I sleep with ear plugs to block out dog noises. So, I'm good for up to eight hours.
Also, make sure that your suppressed guns cycle.
You’re trying to save your life. I think that would be the least of my problems right then.
You always have a gun give away but never hear about who win
Bill Burr's black and white comedy special had a hilarious bit of him arguing why a .22 is better for home defense than anything else. It's a joke ppl, and a funny one. Don't @ me.
The odds of this happening once is enough to not worry about it.
Its a trade off. My life > my hearing. I'm old enough to get away w/ a hearing aid. Don't need one yet but' I had to defend myself on my porch las year and my ears rang for about a day or two. I don't believe you lose that tonal range. My music sounds fine to me.
I have the ear muff next to my guns I need the hearing it gives me it has a add in walkie talkie and man I can hear across a large room.
I have a pair of electronic muffs by my bedside.
I have a crossbow
Just make sure u have ur headphones on when u go downstairs looking for the bad guy.
If it has one keep the silencer on
sling shot is much more quiet
What is ironic is that a couple decades ago when I had my semi-auto rifles, I used to foolishly go out and let off hundreds of rounds without wearing hearing protection, now granted this is outdoors, but I subjected my ears to all of that gunfire and somehow came out of it without ending up with tinnitus, but the ironic thing is that the thing that ultimately caused me to have tinnitus was having a little tiny fan on my nightstand next to my bed one night, and even though it was relatively quiet for a fan, the constant sound of that little tiny fan caused me to wake up with permanent ringing in my ears. That was back in 2014 I think, and to this day that ringing never went away. Gunfire did not do it, but a tiny little fan did :-/
I want a suppressor
It is a good topic. I don’t have a suppressor, but I use a 9mm with 147 grain ammo, so I at least avoid the sonic boom of a supersonic round.
A guy I know bragged about having an AR15 ready to go a his home defense gun. One shot and it would be like a flash bang going off right by his head. No thanks.
I think if you plan on using an AR-15, then hearing protection is a must. I can’t imagine firing that weapon multiple times in my house without ear pro. Otherwise, with a frangible round, it’s not a bad choice, especially considering capacity and accuracy.
This is why you keep your hearing protection next to your gun. I know some people will say you won't have time, maybe. But if you train you can grab both.
@@DG-ie5ipThe beauty of modern hearing protection is that it can even enhance your hearing.
Yes it's called electronic earmuffs that amplify ambient sound and reduce gunshots
i would rather be deaf then dead
I do audio mastering, I'd rather be dead than deaf. My life would cease to exist without excellent hearing which is multiple times more sensitive than normal ears.
don't know about everyone else, but, I sleep with my eye and ear protection on, also for good measures I also wear a condom at night.😆
Do they make a shotgun suppresser?
A few years back, I caught an episode of some show on Discovery channel - Forget what the name was, but it was one of those "A day in the life of..." type things, sorta like the series they did with Orange County Choppers, only at a Louisiana gunsmith shop - might have been called "Sons of Guns" or similar - Anyway, they were working on a suppressor for a 12 gauge, and it apparently did a pretty good job when "fresh", taking it down from 163dB when fired "naked", to a couple digits either side of 110dB. Unfortunately, it seemed that it was fairly "fragile" - it started losing effectiveness rapidly after about 8 rounds of double-ought buck.
There are a few out now.
And if you pay USCCA to represent you, they will have taken your money and ran off while screaming, "Good luck with that sucker, thanks for the money."
No.
Why do y’all not defend all of your customers?
I'm sixty-nine. I've heard enough.
I rather be deaf than dead!

No. If it came to that, where someone was breaking into my house and I had to send them to Jesus. I can care less about my hearing be damaged for shooting in my house. I would know that I'm SAFE, and my family is SAFE.
You might not be def but your ears will ring for a while
Nope
Here in CA, yes you have committed a crime. Then you must prove your justification for doing so usually in court!
